Anyway some make up in Da2 were pretty awful ,almost like when you're a teen and you discover make up and you go all warpaint, and you're sure deep down that you do not look like a clown but a super classy diva .
If we go to Orlais , I suspect we will see more make up , I don't know if it will be inspired by France during La Renaissance but women , back then were fond of rouge, red on the lips and cheeks with very white skin.
It did look pretty bad IMO ..

Clownish nightmares like Orana shouldn't exist, I agree.
They should only exist in the Fade, on a bad lyrium trip.

I had no problems with Morrigan or Leliana but Aveline's lipstick does bother me a bit. Unfortunately, all lips in DA2 look very rubbery and painted. It's an issue of graphical style. It's hard to make a natural looking character. In Cassandra's case, I'd prefer her without makeup. It's not a big issue, but I hope in DA3 devs will try even harder to match style with personality.
What does matter to me, is that I can make my PC look as natural as possible. The rubbery lips in DA2 and the super strong mascara in Mass Effect annoy me. NPCs can paint their faces as gaudy as they want but I want my PC to have a real choice to go without makeup.

Oh, Maker. Thank you for reminding me -- so glad we never got those tarantula lashes in DA.Ria wrote...
Garish makeup is fine for some NPCs, even Orana-level garishness. Take a walk outside and you'll occasionally run into women (and men) who look like Jackson Pollocks' victims. Some people like to wear heavy makeup. It's fine as long as the style (clothes, hair, makeup...) of the NPC fits their personality.

I do, however, expect the ladies (and, as dancarrero suggests, the foppish gents) of Val Royeaux to rock serious make-up and ridiculous outfits. And wigs. With birds in them. I want to go to a ball and just stare at BioWare's creativity in making them look fashionably insane.
Color-wise it'll be hard to top that scene in DA:O where Loghain harrangues the nobles. My eyes are still smarting.
