I was briefly excited for the trilogy - until I looked at it.  There is nothing new and exciting added, with the exception of ME1 for the PS3 fans - that is excellent!

I have ME1-3 already, plus Future Shop (cdn retailer) gave away a wicked steelbook case to house the discs from all 3 games in it - so where's the appeal here?  Its looks like something I have a better version of.

You can argue that the price is good (and it is), but it's not new - look at the Gears or Assassin's creed package deals - they compete.  I suppose there is some argument to be made that ME3 is only 6 months old, so it's definitely a good deal in that regard.

I can't shake the feeling that this is just too soon, there's nothing awesome packed into it, no graphics have been redone or anything, why bother?  It feels like a cash grab.  Again, with the exception of the PS3 fans.

Thoughts?

Definitely good news and in no way too soon for the PS3 folk. The general thought seemed to be that hell was going to be a great place to go for a skiing holiday before they'd see ME1 on their platform - certainly it was what I'd come to believe. They've been waiting for five years or something so not a day too soon.

As for the rest of us.... is it actually too late for some people? It's US$60 and I bought ME1 & 2 for $10 each on Steam, and I'll probably get ME3 when it drops to a similar price (sorry ME3 fans - for me it's way too flawed a story even with fixes to be worth more than ten bucks or so). If I hadn't yet got into the series it'd be a bargain but other than the fact I'd own the games on physical media I can't see any reason for me to buy it as it's only getting me the third instalment for 5-6 times more than I feel it's worth. What might tip the balance is DLC, which the powers that be were silent on last I looked (yesterday evening). If all that promotional DLC that now can't be had at any price is included in the trilogy then I'd be tempted. $60 is still far more than I'm willing to pay for ME3, but ME3 plus all the games on disc plus that DLC I've never been able to get might be worth it, though I can't help feeling that waiting for BioWare to announce an Ultimate Edition might be the way to go. An Ultimate With Absolutely Everything We Ever Did For Mass Effect All Included And Some Of Those Left Over 1 & 2 Bugs Fixed Edition would be worth at least $100 of my hard earned cash.

Edited to add: and here's the answer:

By the looks of it only basic free DLC. I can understand why they still want to sell the paid content but why not offer the promo stuff long after the promotions ended? Oh well, no biggie, but will give it a miss. Hopefully they release an Ultimate Got Everything Edition in the not too distant future.

I think its a little too too soon, games usually do the box set thing after at least a tear. I think it also signals the end of me3 dlc.
