let me explain. everything plays out normal. shep goes on the citadel, illusive man, anderson dies. shep goes to the control panel and activates it. instead of the space mumbo jumbo, the catalyst acts as a sort of an emp, weakening the reapers power by half. depending on ems certain things happen. Low: Reapers wipe out fleet, Harbinger destroys catalyst.medium: Reapers defeated, high casualties, Harbinger destroys catalyst.High: Reapers defeated, low casualties, Harbinger destroys catalyst .Very high: ( as in convince TIM ren. or par) Reapers defeated, low casualties, Harbinger destroyed before catalyst is destroyed. Shepard wanders off the citadel to meet his crew waiting for him.of course war assets would be shown. would having no final choice but what I presented. ( roughly ) been prefered?

I would have liked it.

Sometimes I think the writers tried too hard to "give the player choices", and ended up missing the point badly.

I would have preferred that.

Destroy or Control being the only options depending on alignment/collector base decision.

Also there would have to be a "perfect" destroy ending where high EMS only targets the Reapers.

Okay, why the heck didn't we get something like this, and yeah would have been better than the original endings IMO.

I would've liked a "Suicide Mission"-like scenario with your accumulated War Assets instead.

Have Jack & her Grissom Academy students provide support.
Aria's merc squads using hit & run tactics.
The Rachni on the front lines side-by-side with the Krogan's on their Dinosaur mounts.
The Geth providing heavy ground support with their Geth Collossus and Infiltrators.
Quarians providing air & space support,.
Salarian's using their stealth squads on ground & extra defense in space..etc.etc

You know, what most of us expected our War assets to do from the get-go.

I would have preferred an ending that would have made sense.

Actually, yes, I would have preferred this.

Wouldn't have minded if control were still there, maybe even if they added a sub plot to justify using it as an option instead of destroy. Could do with out synthesis, though - it's just nonsensical and feels out of place. Nearly as much as Star Brat.

What I'd prefer would be if the choices and ending available to us were determined by our choices over the course of the series. IE: if you've united the galaxy, give us the option to destroy the Reapers on our own, uplifting victory and all that. If you've failed to get anyone on your side, have an absolute failure ending. If you've fallen somewhere in the middle, make it a skin of the teeth win, or fall back on a super-weapon.

Yes.

There did not need to be a choice at the end - our choices leading up to it should have determined our ending.

No. I don't want the Crucible being a magical super-virus or Reaper shield-buster or Reaper communications hub that disables them for some moronic reason or Harbingers brain or any ideas like that.

The ending sucks, but at the very least it makes sense for the three choices to exist since the Reapers built them themselves. I don't want the Reapers having some pointless weakness for no reason.

Knowing what I know now, no. I liked the 11th hour twist and having to make that big, morally-grey decision.

The presentation just needed work. But the general concept was worthy.

Exactly, ending a game about a war with "monsters" in a choice.  Ugh.

Yes, in a medium to low EMS maybe you see your LI die or something. To really drive it in to those players that aren't doing enough! >:|

But yes, this would have been OH SO much better.

Yup, plus the choices were most present along the way in the story. Not at the precipice itself.

Bar Alliance Orders for Soveriegn in ME1 or Collector Base choice in ME2. But these were Shepard's choices. Not options presented by the enemy.

I like the ending as it stands already, its fine as it is. If want to write your own ending, make your own game and you will have complete creative freedom to do so. Of course I will then demand you change it and if you do not I will mock you with constant spamming of the word "art" and complain about how you don't listen to the fans followed by whining for months on end until you cave in and change your ending. If you do change it I will move the goal posts and demand more or something different regardless. If you get annoyed about me whining I will use the "I'm only doing it because I love you" whether I do or simply do not care at all and only like you when you do whatever I tell you to do is irrelevant because I can use that phrase anytime despite opposing actions. If you still don't do what I want I will bake you a pie and eat it in front of you denying you a slice because I am a big ol' meanie. If you still don't do exactly what I want I will pull down my pants, flap my arms like a chicken and bark at you. Now if you keep doing everything I tell you whenever I tell you to do it, I will like you again until the the next time you want to do something I might dislike despite you as it's creator wanting to express your creativity how you want, you must only exist to be my puppet on a string.

/end parody of BSN reactions to every single time a developer tells the story wants to tell vs what you want to be told.
