The Mage-Templar war would be a good oportunity for the Tevinter Magister to take advantage of so they can spread their influence across rebel Mages.

The Tevinters are too busy fighting the Qunari they may support the Rebel mages but I don't see the Imperium rising again.

For the black divine though, having the opportunity to influence the spreading of their religion could be a reason to involve themselves somehow in the mage/templar conflict by giving support by other means than an army.

The Tevinters have a lot to gain in terms of political and religious influence.  And they don't even have to support the rebel mages to do it.  All they have to do is point to the collapse of the standard Chantry, and then offer the Imperial Chantry as an alternative.  The Imperial Chantry still has its Circles intact, and a "templar" force of its own.  They could even offer some of its forces as emergency "peacekeepers."

The templars probably won't bite, but they hated the Tevinters anyway.  But the normal people who suffer as a result of any war, jaded mages, maybe even politicians desperate for a stop to the fighting...they might start listening.

To the guys saying Tevinter Imperium is at war, they don't necessarily have to devote military allegiance to back the mage cause. It could be a political swing as people mentioned.

Many times in our own history empires have been torn to pieces simply by internal struggles influenced by rivals. TI could easily push Orlais into imploding and pulling the strings behind the war. No doubt this war is going to cause a lot of turmoil and weaken Templars/Chantry....

A lot of political strife is going to happen.

I don't know what it is but based on the little I know about Orlais, I don't find it a very interesting country at all and I'm hoping the majority of the game isn't based there. What we know, TI's history is far more interesting than any other country, IMO. They should play a major part in DA3 in some way. In the feedback thread over a third of people wanted more TI impact in DA3...

If anything, TI should have an entire game devoted to them...

So don't play it.  I think it's pretty obvious that the fundamental story premise isn't changing anytime soon :D

I just have a feeling a greater evil is going to rise in DA3 and it will force both sides to put their differences aside for unity. Possibly at the end. Something tells me that TI will have influence behind this greater evil and they'll play a major part in DA4. Who knows. I just want to know more about TI...

And your problem is what again, exactly?

This is the easy way out of the mage/templar conflict, and I hope they don't go that way for DA3.  Yes, people do set aside their differences to face greater threats, but it still leaves the original conflict unresolved.

I agree. It's also overdone and sounds way too much like Mass Effect. However, based on reactions from people on DA2's story and seeing some Bioware devs talk about how they looked at Mass Effect, I think they're going this way.

I liked DA2's story because it was different but you know, I don't think Bioware tells the family angle very well. So, back to the greater evil, IMO. I think more people are accepting to this that type of story and it's what Bioware is good at.

Tevinter will  take avantage of the situation no matter what happns.

War and internal struggle wil devestate the lands which will create refugees which of course are easy targets for slavers. Profits will be a booming

Tevinter would probally want to see the collapse of the chantry not likely for mage freedom (who wants more competition ,right) but for better acess to lyrium which at present is controlled by the Chantry.

The turmoil would also be good for Tevinter with Orlais weakened. Tevinter or Nevarra would be contenders for the most powerful Human nation.

Tevinter will endure

To be entirely fair, you didn't just handwave pre-existing conflicts in ME3.  The krogans, turians, and salarians only fight together against the Reapers if you cure the genophage (or con that idiot Wreav).  There is literally only one permutation of events that allows you to strike peace with the quarians and geth--neither join you against the Reapers until that issue is resolved.  IMO those were some of the stronger plot elements of the game.

Keep your Imperial money,
Even if its made of tin,
Keep all them crinolines hunny,
The Tevinter'll rise again.

No, Blood Mages, Oh, don't you sit and spin
if we all turn out with a rebel shout
The Tevinter'll rise again

Hall out that armour of yours
I'll tack it up with an Imperial pin
Raise up them spears and axes
The Tevinter'll rise again

No, Blood Mages, Oh, don't you sit and spin
if we all turn out with a rebel shout
The Tevinter'll rise again

Start all them bugles playin
Listen to the trumps begin
Ten thousand men a marchin
The Tevinter'll rise again

No, Blood Mages, Oh, don't you sit and spin
if we all turn out with a rebel shout
The Tevinter'll rise again

I think its completely in line with what we know about the Imperium for them to take advantage of all this to spread their influence. I'd be extremely surprised if they didn't. I just hope we get to take the Imperium down in the end. Or, at least, the corrupt elements within it. Finish what Andraste started, so to speak.

And hopefully we'll have a more viable solution than the Circle system to put in place when that happens. Cus that obviously didn't work, with magisters running a muck and blood sacrifice apparently being common practice and all.
