I read about some fake survey that showed up with some highly specualtive info, and one of the supposed game descriptions said this:
"The world of Dragon Age is one on the brink of collapse, and when a desperate gathering in the name of peace becomes the epicentre of a magical blast that decimates the Chantry's leadership, it becomes clear that someone or something is manipulating events to drive the world into chaos."
Now, this piqued my interest because Anders destroys the Kirkwall Chantry, and I know a mage in Asunder (the novel) tries to assassinate the Divine. However, this makes me think that another Anders-style explosion and ceimation of Chantry ranks is going to happen again (in prequel, or beginning of game).

Edit : Actually on re-read that doesn't really make sense. Perhaps it is a copy cat thing. Or Justice/Vengenace has been completely corrupted.

That's practically the plot of Rise of the Seeker, too, except the blast came out of a dragon.
I didn't see Dawn of the Seeker (I apparently draw the line at movies) but I heard Cassandra got labeled "Hero of Orlais" for saving Divine Justinia from a copy-cat mage assasination attempt. I thought that would be the reference, but it seems a little bigger than that, and you apparently "get called" on after this.
There's other stuff too (Morrigan related speculation), this just caught my eye first.

It could also mean that Anders could possibly be used by a more sinister force. He wouldn't be that hard to sway, all you have to do is agree with him about mages and he'll be your **** lol.
Yeah, my Hawke would know. But he can also (if you were basically verbally abusive towards him without stabbing his vitals) decide he is a terrible person and vow to kill himself after he helps you annull the Circle.

I won't have to sway him at all, since the murder knife already did its job.Chiramu wrote...

I don't think it's referring to someone like Anders. It specifically says it may be "something" that's responsible. And the other leaked description talks off the veil being ripped apart and demons flooding through. Chaos and destruction isn't something Anders or other rebel mages want.
Funny way to show how much they hate chaos and destruction. . . by bombing a church.

Bombing a church and tearing open the veil are hardly comparable.

The Chantry isn't a church. Even if it was, Anders would have to bomb dozens more to even equal a small fraction of the chaos and destruction that the Chantry has been directly responsible for throughout history, ever since its inception.jkflipflopDAO wrote...

Um... It's Cole from Asunder.
Cole kills mages, not Chanters.

Not trying to derail the thread but this deserves a response.
The Chantry saved Thedas from : The original Tevinter Imperium, The Qunari and helped with Blights. For the Tevinter and Blghts maybe Thedas would have banded together without the Chantry, but the entirety of Thedas was fine with letting Rivain and Antiva burn until the Chantry declared an Exalted March.
Saying the Chantry caused lots of destruction without context is silly. It's like saying the UN are warmongers cause they declared several 'peace-keeping missions' (read wars) in their history. (Noteably Korea and various operations in the middle-east)

No, Andraste saved Thedas from the Tevinter Imperium. The Chantry as it is known now didn't even form until much later. Once it was formed, it attacked Tevinter repeatedly, without provocation, simply because the "Black Chantry" has different ideas about magic.ghostmessiah202 wrote...

Speaking of magic, the Chantry never would've beat the Qunari if not for the mages under its control, but the mages get no credit for their work, and are bundled back in their risons without even a thank you. The Chantry is no better than the Qunari.
The Chantry also declared an Exalted March on the Dalish Elves, reducing their civilization to wandering nomads. It also supported the Orlesian invasion of Ferelden. It also called multiple annulments over the past thousand years, slaughtering every mage in a given circle, right down to the youngest child, for daring to find fault with a system that routinely abuses them.
Comparing the Chantry's Marches to the peace-keeping missions of the UN isn't helpful, because I never said I agree with those either.

I'm sure that's the same line of reasoning that caused two airliners to crash into the WTC.

OH MY GOD! No, just....no. Don't. I will summon a moderator for my own thread before we start something like that.
