I was wondering a few months ago if elves can become Templars.

Also, is Thedas the only continent on whatever planet DA takes place on?

Exactly how Dalish magic is different? Maybe an example of a typical keeper spell?
I've been wanting to write some fanfic but hate going against lore.
Oh and creation spells like stinging swarm, do the summoned creatures dissipate after some time?

What will we find if we keep going south of "The Arbor Wilds" or North of "The Donarks"?

The Wilds extends quite a way south of both the Korcari Wilds and the Arbor Wilds-- it's mostly either thick forests or inhospitable wasteland, however, and thus not of much interest to lands in the north. Likewise, north of the Donarks is jungle. Not a lot... once you get into the Boeric Ocean you're looking at mostly small island chains. There are outposts of several nations there, but also Qunari... not to mention angry natives (this is where the Rivaini hail from, racially speaking) who don't like southern lands getting colonial inclinations.

Well now I want to sail around a bunch of islands in the Dragon Age universe exploring new places, meeting new people, killing those people, and finding terrible evil horrors best left unfound.

Thanks for that.

Will Empress Celene and Justinia V ever make an appearance in the games? (Not counting Justinia V's "cameo" in Leliana's Song).

Did that one guy ever stop kicking the wall????

Despite repeatedly being thrown out by the Kirkwall City Guard, he continued his wall-kicking rampage. He snuck into the keep in the dead of night, kicking walls in the throne room, the Viscount's chambers, and even the barracks themselves.

He was tried before a magistrate for several counts of abuse of city property, resisting the guard, and mind-numbing beligerence. He was nearly acquitted, but he kicked the magistrate's box just before the verdict. Sentenced to five years in prison, he continued kicking walls in his cell until he finally suffered a severe toe injury which put an end to his crime spree.

LMAO
...and this is why I love the BioWare writers!

Mind-Numbing Beligerance should be an actual charge.

Edit:  There should be a wall-kicking easter egg in DA3 where someone starts doing that and is imediately arrested by guards....

The proper demonym is "Thedosian".

I'm guessing Thedasian sounded too much like Asian?

Interesting.  This map of Thedas:
images.wikia.com/dragonage/images/8/80/ThedasMap.jpg
shows "The Frozen Seas" starting not too far south of the Arbor wilds.  Wouldn't that mean the forested areas don't go much further south than the bottom of the map before becoming tundra?  Or are the Frozen Seas actually further south than they appear on the map?  I know it's just a minor background detail, but I'm a geography nut and so this interests me.

Also, I have a couple other questions about Thedas itself.  Does Thedas cross the equator at any point, or is the equator much further north?  I'm just wondering how far north one has to go before the climate would start to cool again.

Looking bakc at that map, is there a large amount of land to the west of the Tirashan, or is the sea closeby?  (Or has this not been decided yet?)  What about north of the Donarks?

Any chance of getting an even bigger map of Thedas in DA3?  I'd definitely go for a collectors edition if that were the case!

Well, I wouldn't say lots of sex. I imagine Cailan was pretty good at
keeping to Anora's scheduled appointments, however. "Just close your eyes
and do it for Ferelden."

Lie back and think of Ferelden?

Thanks to all the devs who've taken time out to answer our silly questions.  It is greatly appreciated!

So, what was the Bait actually meant to be in "Bait and Switch"? I mean, I know there was nothing in the chest in the end, but I'd love to know what it was that Fenris thought he might find.

from the Fenris thread:

David Gaider wrote...

"What did Fenris think was in the chest?"

Information on his family. He didn't really think it was true, and was all but certain it was just a way to lure him into the open, but he couldn't ignore it.

Oooh, excellent. Thank you!

How easy/difficult are Templar powers to learn? How long would it take, how much training is required? Is Lyrium consumption necessary? Does Lyrium make it easier?

In Origins, Alistair says it isn't necesssary and the Warden doesn't need to drink Lyrium, but the talent description in DA2 says it is. Is that a straight up retcon or simply different sources giving differen information?

Does Hawke consume Lyrium to get Templar abilities?

We don't see it happening or hear it referenced, so i assume not, but the specialisations are on pretty shaky ground, lorewise.

Maybe Alistair knew of a secret way to learn the powers without taking lyrium?  Or perhaps Grey Wardens can power the Templar powers with their tainted blood?  (Wild *** Guess)

This is what i love about the DA universe it has so much potential lorewise and narritive wise. Like even in the edges of our current map (which in many rpg universes are ignored) we can have quests and stories about tension among the natives and the colonizers or deep inhospitable jungles that have secrets and lost treasures.

To all the writing team and Mr.Gaider keep up the good work and here's hoping these small tidbits about the world are shared in DA3 atleast in the background or even in codex entries. It makes the world much more believable and immersive knowing  that there are always more conflits or mysteries out there that are current PC dosent even know or have time to tackle ;)

Who did Anders's cat originally belong to?

I think "no one" is a safe assumption. Because you may (or may not) find it in DAA wandering around the keep.

Though - who knows, may be in DA3 we'll get an unexpected closure to an arc of this marvelous NPC... or, probably, find out more about his mysterious origins... could he be the long-lost "Orlesian Tabby" kitten that belonged once to Empress herself?!... :P

What do you mean? Was not Cailan crazy about Anora? Many NPC mentioned that. And Anora was sure Cailan loved her.

Anyway, my question is about Dalish - why could not they claim some land? The Wilds sounds like it belongs to no one, and sure there are many free territories out there.

Don't the Wilds belong to the Chasind. I mean that be saying that they live there.

In other lands might there be other mighty beasts besides mortals and dragons that their deities sometimes possess? Tevinter can't be the entire world nor its center, is my guess.

What are the fex?

A primitive race which originates on Par Vollen.

I knew it, they're monkey people with monkey tails and the DA3 protagonist will be one of them.

I'm get a mental picture of Anora tieing Cailan to their bed and having her way with him when I read that.

I wonder if she makes Alistair and the Cousland-Warden do "scheduled appointments"

I guess Anora, in bed, would take the lead and be in charge. *imagines Anora as a Dominatrix*

It's a stray the Warden Commander found at Vigil's Keep.

You grab it, and it becomes a gift for Anders.
