Will we have some Closure to Hawke's story?

DA2 ended on a bad note, with our protagonist deemed missing. There was absolutely no closure and left everything up in the air. The amount of closure in the end can be justified by the cancelled DLC, which most likely would have finsihed Hawke's story on a more definitive note. But now since there is no DLC left for DA2, will Hawke ever get the closure he/she deserves in Dragon Age 3?

Its nothing new to Bioware stories to leave it open like that. It's possible to have similar circumstances in DAO (Witch Hunt). KOTOR and KOTOR 2 also did the same thing with the main characters. If history has shown anything, though, you probably won't see any closure as you may think of it. For all we know, his part in the grand story ended with DA2 and that's all we will hear from him again.

I hope so. And if not, I hope David will come back someday and tell us how the expansion would have played out (they don't want to say right now, because they can still use some of those plots in the future).

Mark has said it would be nice, but he doesn't currently know how they'd do it. So I'm not sure what to expect.

My Hawke rode off into the sunset with Anders, leaving a trail of destroyed chantries in their wake.

This is true.

I'm not sure whether that's funny or sad... :/

I thought walking through the mirror did not need closure, it was a nice mystery ending....

Hawke needs a little though, i did feel like there was more for him to do - sadly the expansion fell through. On the flip side, i was never that in love with hawke overall, so im no that worried what they decide for him...Closure or just leaving it open for you to decide.

Could have sworn I read somewhere they weren't going to use Hawke or the warden again. So.....

My mage femHawke moved to the Kocari Wilds with Merrill thus keeping the witch of the wilds legends alive long after Flemeth and Morrigan left. Until otherwise noted in a future game anyways.

I would hope they will mention Hawke in DA3 and not use the explanation of "they just disappeared."

If not I'm gonna be really annoyed at the DA team. They should explain it in DA3 if not have an appearance from Hawke himself. I liked my Hawke and I don't want to see him screwed out of the franchise because some fans don't like him.

Bioware didn't have Revan as missing at the end of KoTOR.
Obsidian had him go missing (off into the Unknown Regions to face the True Sith Empire) after KoTOR when they made KoTOR2.

They left the Hero of Neverwinter's fate as an unknown though
With the expansions to Neverwinter Nights, you could import from the end of Neverwinter Nights into Shadows of Udrentide, but you weren't the Hero of Neverwinter anymore. The same character from SoU was for Hordes of the Underdark, even if it was an import from Neverwinter Nights, but still not the Hero of Neverwinter.

As for Hawke (and the Warden) I would like Bioware to create an "end" for their stories, ideally with us playing them.
Warden first (with an imported Hawke from DA2) then Hawke afterward
Hawke is a somewhat more critical figure when it comes to the current Mages vs Templar/Chantry (and possibly Inuisition) conflict, where the Warden is a more periphery figure due to recruiting Anders to be a Grey Warden. Hawke also has involvement with a potential Qunari invasion, more than the Warden would/should due to Isabella and being directly involved with the dimplomatic relations with, and death of, the Arishok and many Qunari in Kirkwall.
The Qunari would certainly regard both the Warden and Hawke as persons of interest, but Hawke would be of higher priority for aformentioned reasons.

With one or both being missing (Female Warden can become Queen of Ferelden and not go missing), some way of "ending" their story (I mean their more direct involvement in the world) without them automatically dying or being imprisoned would be a nice thing, so long as it was done in a way that either allowed us to dictate that ending within the game, or base it upon endings to DA:O/A/WH where our Warden hasn't disappeared.
Hawke can be given a few cameos based upon outcomes from a DA2 import, just as events and characters had minor differences in DA2 based upon the DA import.
As odd as it may seem, I think an opening to DA3 similar to Metal Gear Solid 2 could be a good way to help define Hawe's role/fate/ending. Start as our Hawke (from an imported save game) like starting as Solid Snake, and change to our PC for DA3 with the potential cameos from our Hawke during the course of the game, assuming he/she is alive after the beginning of the game of course...

Hopefully we will see Hawke die within the first 30 min of DA:3 - yes we need closure to his/her story, but much like Ja Ja Binks all he will do is serve as a reminder of what a (creative) failure the previous entry in the series was.

If our protagonist could have the option to kill Hawke it would be great.

As many ties with DA:2 should be cut ASAP in DA:3

 This!

Even the name "Hawke" reminds me of Hawk The Slayer.......

www.youtube.com/watch

.........one of the worst Fantasy film ever. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if Bioware didn't use Hawke the Slayer as the entire foundation for DA:2 lol.

I'll be happy if they do not mention Hawke at all.

I wouldn't mind to find out that she was murdered by the Warden, though :D

If Hawkes story is not given some closure like in Witch Hunt, I'm going to be pissed. I stop playing games where they leave **** totally open and never, ever go back to it.

Maybe a conflict between both which leaves the protagnist in the position of deciding which on lives?

I do not really care about closure on Hawke, honestly. If he gets mentioned, good, if not, so be it.

I don't think there's much more they can do, without making them playable, which ain't going to happen.

Same.  TBH I like being able to headcanon my ending, it saves me the messiness of something like ME3.

But if Hawke does turn up in DA3, I'd like to have my new protagonist put her down like the crazy murderous psychopath she is.

My William Hawke had all the closure I need, in Bioware's preferred way - headcanon. After leaving the city that had systematically destroyed his life and his sanity he wandered around aimlessly, until he finally settled in small town somewhere. There he became known as "Bill, the drunk", never talked with much anyone and was found frozen to death one cold winter morning.
