If I were her I'd at least shave, or try to do something about it. Citing religious reasons, well, it's kinda silly when most men won't have anything to do with her.

Maybe she doesn't care?

That's admirable but it won't make getting a date any easier, or prevent constant staring. Like I say, if there was a feasible solution, I'd take it.

What I learned in this thread.

1. She needs to shave, to appease the status quo.
2. She needs a boyfriend.
3. Her faith to her religion might make her a disgusting person, even though it has
made her content in her life, because religion= bad, boo! hiss!
4. She's might also be close minded because of reason stated above.

This thread gave me a massive headache.... Looking forward to the other positive threads you people manage to mangle and twist to this cesspool of negativity.

I have to agree. I'm hardly a huge advocate of organized religion, but to say the woman is worse off because she can't shave due to her religion when she clearly has large reserves of moral character, self worth and overall human decency because of it seems rather pig-headed. Just because a religion prevents you from doing something that would make your life easier doesn't somehow negate all of the good it has brought that person.

A religion might prevent people from shooting people who make fun of you in the foot. This would make life harder, because then people wouldn't be terrified to ever make fun of you. But that doesn't mean that religion is inherently bad or wrong.

1. No, if she desires a companion, shaving or treatment would help. If she wants to be lonely, keep the beard.

2. Well, she might want one, yes. To that end she'll probably do what everyone else does when they go on a date - make themselves look as appealing as they can. The women with beards fad never really got off the ground so her chances are diminished if she keeps it.

3. Her faith is illogical, and in this case highly impractical. Even damaging.

4. Not what I said or implied.

5. Your little guilt trip has fallen flat on its face. Sorry to disappoint. :)

Way to be extremely shallow.

No, really- some people actually aren't interested in the dating rat race.  I have no idea if this is the case with her, but there are people who are asexual, and there are people who choose to be celibate for religious reasons, and they're not freaks or weirdos.   They're not necessarily any lonelier than anyone else.  You can have had partners galore and still be lonely.  These are the kind of things that ascetics can teach society, that the things we run after and lust after aren't necessarily keys to happiness.  It's more your orientation toward life circumstances that determines if you're happy or not.  IMO.

I could link you to a couple sites.

You know, maybe she just doesn't care about that right now.  There actually are women, young women even, who have aspirations other than finding a husband.  And whether she finds someone to partner with or not is her own business.

I was never considered "hot" because I'm a large boned woman -- sucks, but women with thick bones (and I am NOT talking fat, I'm talking large framed) just are not considered as sexy as small, delicate women.  Now, I either could have let that own me, or I could do what I did and decided to stay true to me.  And wow, somehow not only did I date, but I got married, maybe a bit too young, to an amazing man.

Sexy is often more attitude than looks.  And self assurance, in both men and women, is incredibly sexy.

I think that's enough of that, thank you.

End of line.
