I have two characters with healing/first aid but I have no idea how it works. I thought it would be in the power wheel but it's not. Yet it's required to upgrade garrus for electronics and to upgrade kaidan for medicine (neural shock). How does this work? It could be very useful if I knew how to use it. I just never shows on the powerwheel.

Seriously though, are you on X360? (I don't recall any power wheel in ME1, but I'm on PC). Anyway, check your key mapping settings (or pad buttons mapping settings in that case, I think, or something like that). First Aid is activated with a separate button/key. On PC it's R as a default if I remember correctly, and I always remap it to F. No idea where is it as default on the 360.

I'm on Xbox and there is a power wheel but I never see anything that would represent first aid of any sort. It drives me nuts since I have to put points into it for two character I play to get them access to what I need (electronics and medicine/neural shock) but the first aid seems rather useless as I've yet been able to find a way to access it. I hope somebody knows. It would be nice to have.

I believe that First Aid works just like Decryption and Electronics.
Putting points into any member of your squads First Aid upgrades your (Shepards) medigel use.
It heals for more and recharges quicker.

I think she meant what button do you press to make First Aid do its stuff. starlitegirlx, not being an XBox player I don't know but perhaps it's possible to see how it's done by watching an XBox ME1 video walkthrough or let's play on YouTube.

On Xbox, press Y to use First Aid. The First Aid power does not appear on the power wheel. Using First Aid consumes 1 medi-gel.
You can also repair the Mako by pressing Y. Repairing the Mako repairs only "health" damage; it does not replenish the Mako's shields. You must be in the Mako to repair the Mako, and you cannot move while it is being repaired.
