I was expecting Irenicus based on an earlier setup, forgot about Bodhi and Sarevok. Which component have I failed to install to not get that (feeling like a fraud as I doubt my monk would have got through easily against her - if at all).

That's a good question. I was under the impression that it was just a result of Smarter General AI and Smarter Mages.
Now I'm not so sure though, I'll try to dig up an answer.
(feeling like a fraud as I doubt my monk would have got through easily against her - if at all).
Don't feel that way!
Your install still has plenty of nasty for Veyal.
Btw. Abigail made some progress this evening. She'll head to Suldanessalar tomorrow.

Another 3 or 4 hits and I'm feeling confident as I'm mid-health and he is almost dead. Then he insta-kills me for Reload19. I grab some more potions from my pocket plane and return. This time I lure a Burning Man (I am unbuffed and he dispels anyway) into a Stunning Blow then glug two potions of fire resistance and melee Imix. He dispels the fire resistance part way through a GWW (I now know how I died earlier, GWW on a Fireshield with starfire will have zapped me in 1 or 2 blows) so I retreat and send in Spectral Brand as I heal. Then I GWW bullets +3, realising his startfire centres on himself and I can escape the area if careful. Two sets of GWW bullets later he is badly wounded, and two more have him dead at the cost of my +3 bullets and some +4's too. The second Burning Man is dealt with and I grab a second heart before paying Cespenar to upgrade a Bag of Plenty.
I return to Saradush (for the last time) - nothing to buy so head instead to Karthis al-Hezzar. Nyalee is waiting for me at the Forest of Mir (but first I have to deal with the two vampiric wraiths that have revealed themselves since my last visit). I GWW a Vortex Spider before Spectral Branding a shambling mound with about 3 GWW's and a second with three more. Then back to fists against fire elementals, bears, two nymphs, Nyalee (who was immune earlier but the nymphs were suspiciously still so assume they were warding her somehow), another fire elemental, dire wolf, three mummies and two ghasts. I turn to leave as a skeletal assassin attacks so cast Hardiness as he strikes. Four hits convince him to remain dead.
Yaga Shura next - familiar with Ascension so aware it is a tough encounter and another one where fire resistance would be nice (if it isn't repeatedly dispelled), not familiar with SCS at all so will be fun. I'm expecting a long battle with cat and mouse tactics so will leave it for when I have more time.

Time to kick some giant butt and one hit is all Yaga Shura takes before running. After a while in the shadows I talk to a soldier who then turns hostile. I start stuttering so it looks like Yaga Shura and his twin brother Lagger Slower have arrived so I use a WW and a few extra kicks on his Lieutenant Fighter.

I'm away to the west and hidden as a Timestop is cast. True Sight and FoD greet my return so I hide to the east. A lava bomb hits as I switch back again. Lieutenant Cleric takes a GWW but Yaga Shura returns with another Lava Bomb.

I steer the bomb to the mage, hide before the thief can locate me then force PfMW out of the mage at least twice. Hardiness and fists are used to attack a soldier in a vain attempt to draw the thief out but Yaga Shura has glugged an oil of speed so I run instead. The mage casts chromatic orb so I glug a potion of invulnerability to boost my saving throws. On my third circuit of the cooking pots the thief aims - and misses. I'm running so fast I have to backtrack for a GWW. The thief manages to hide so I kill a soldier as the thief appears again. The remnants of my GWW scare and kill her - good job too as I was surrounded and she creates an escape in the nick of time.

I glug, run and hide. Another glug as a Lava Bomb hits and I return for the mage, but Yaga Shura is on my heels. I barely have time to grab all the loot dropped by the thief then I am off again. He casts Sunray so I have a few moments grace to hide again. The mage has a white fireshield (fire and cold usually) so I glug a potion of cold resistance and check. Both fire and cold are confirmed - and a lava bomb so I run and glug again. No sign of de-buffs so I glug two fire resistance potions and a second cold resistance for complete immunity to fire shield and hopefully to Sunray and Lava Bomb. Two sets of stoneskins later the mage very quickly runs out of options.

Just Yaga Shura and his standard army left now. His oil of speed has gone so I have time to add Hardiness then summon the Spectral Blade. I manage to position so he attacks the blade and I start with a GWW. I leave to heal while he is still barely injured, adding a potion of Heroism and Improved Invisibility. Hardiness and GWW get him down to injured and I glug two healing potions before returning with another GWW. This one badly injures him at no cost to myself - he is casting Fire Storm and I've left by the time it arrives. I lead him out of the effects and GWW again, this time he casts Sunray (still better than melee) and I resist.

He is near death but two hits have me down to 59hp so I glug two more potions and return with another GWW.

Thanks. Worried about a crash here as it's notorious under Ascension and not something you want to re-do several times.
The main source of crashes in the Yaga-Shura fight (I think) is due to a malformed CRE file for the Lieutenant Thief (he has darts equipped in the wrong slot or something, so when he tries to make ranged attacks - which is random - the game crashes). The good news is that SCS fixes it.

Ok. I thought I'd quickly post on Abigail's fight with Jon in Hell. This was a a fun one- mostly because I honestly had no idea how it would end.
The Plan: Equip the Shadow Dragon Armor, Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Helm of Defense, Amulet of Power, Ring of Gaxx, Symbol of Lathander, Cloak of Reflection (100% Lightning), Boots of Speed, and Belt of Inertial Barrier. Put The Defender, The Thrower, and the Dragon Shield in the weapon slots with Ages and The Reflex nearby. Keep Oils of Speed, Potions of Stone Form, Potions of Fire Resistance, Potions of Heroirms, Potions of Mind Focusing, and Potions of Extra Healing at the ready. Start with minimal buffs: assume they will be dispelled. Instead, rely on item based resistances and potion counters for defense. Keeping spell casting to a minimum: most cleric spells are too slow for tough fights and the Aura will be needed for other purposes.
When the battle opens, immediately vanish using the Sandthief Ring and head south to evade Jon's Time Stop-> Melee. Vanish again to evade the next one. Once the Time Stops are over, try to find some space to get True Sight off and then take down the Glabrezus with The Thrower. Moving onto the Balors, get a low value summon down, let it draw their attention, and then hit them with Holy Smites. Dispel->Thrower may be used here as well. Be quick, but don't squander resources that will be needed against Jon.
Before engaging Jon cast Shield of the Archons and Armor of Faith. Use the Thrower to take out his Stoneskins, then bring the Deva. While the Deva attacks in melee, support with Dispels and Energy Blades. Get Jon down into the Badly Injured range, then finish him with Ages and the Defender under Improved Haste running Potion of Heroism, Armor of Faith, Draw on Holy Might, Regeneration, and Aura of Flaming Death amongst others.
Execution: The battle went according to plan. However, when the Energy Blade Improved Haste effect failed to kick in, I feared Abigail might find herself unable to overcome Jon's Regen rate and need a reload. Fortunately, it all worked out.
The battle begins. Prebuffs fire.

Abigail heads south invisibile as planned while the Demons Teleport Without Error around her.

Time resumes. A Remove reveals Abigail.

She vanishes immediately via Ring of Gaxx. Time Stop two avoided.

Then an oh-so-fun phase of running around like mad trying to find room to cast True Sight. Demons all around, Symbols crashing everywhere: Wiltings, Unholy Blights- not to mention a Dark Planetar. This was scary, but Abigail's shorty save bonus made it safe. Using Potty1's phrase: Dwarf up.

While Abigail was mostly on the run in this part of the battle, she made a scrappy nuisance out of herself. Here, for example, popping a Glab with The Thrower while sending a Flame Arrow back at Jon with The Reflex.

Finally found space to cast that True Seeing. With their Mirror Images gone, the Glabs would soon fall. Abigail would still have to stay on the run though.

Then the Balors. Aerial Servant->Dispel-> Thrower to start them off.

Holy Smites did the heavy lifting here.

Last one was finished in melee. The Defender + Armor of Faith + 127% Fire Resistance made this safe.

Time for Shield of the Archons and the assualt on Jon.
This Thrower smack signalled the end of Jon's Stoneskins.

Bring on the Deva, followed by the Energy Blades.

And then the finish in melee.

Fin!
Best,
A.

I did try doing a cut-down install last night, though I'm not sure yet whether it's working properly. Looking at The Potty 1's recently entered barbarian I thought something other than another rage character should enter so I've rolled up a sorceror in BGT. She might go onto this challenge (if the installation holds up and she performs well in BG1 & SoA).Alesia_BH wrote...

In the Illasera fight, I was reminded once again that suceeding with Abigail is going to be a matter of acknowledging what she isn't and accepting what she is. She is not, a spellcaster -not in ToB at least. Lengthy casting times make most Cleric spells unusable in the thick of combat. She is, instead, a range fighter who uses a handful of quick casting spells along with an occasional summon. Not as glamorous as being a blaster-caster or a buffed melee fighter, but it does have the advantage of working.
Abigail opened by accomplishing some interesting things with her spells, but, ultimately, it was movement, resistances and The Thrower that won the fight. Symbol Stuns cast pre-battle and a Holy Word neutralized Illasera's casters in the early going.

A Harm almost took one down too.

But before long, the Potions of Superior Healing were drunk and the Stuns wore off leaving Abigail on the run with hammer in hand.
Illasera's bow kept The Reflex in the off-hand at all times, making Chaotic Commands a must post Malison.

While spells weren't a problem, Abigail did not fare well in the early going. The phasing Black Reaver prevented her from throwing The Thrower. She tried to do some hit and run melee with The Defender, but at 5 it is way to slow for that. The result? Lots of damage, lots of potions drunk.

Switching The Thrower to melee mode helped Abigail turn the corner. The Thrower has a Speed Factor of 1.

With the phasing Reaver out of the action, Abigail switched The Thrower back to range mode.

Shadow Dragon Armor paid off once again when the Black Reaver mage got down to Level 2 and 1.

With the crowd thining now, Abigail could work in some spells.

Finally Illasera. The Reflex stumped her untill the end, but players with more recent versions of SCS installed should expect to see the Flame of the North from Illasera rather than a puzzled look.

Grominr next.

A.

Angelo takes a second GWW and I move away from Semaj just as he casts Timestop (at least that reveals where Tamoko is too). Semaj summons a Mordenkainen and a pit fiend as I race to Tamoko. She glugs an oil of speed but I've used a GWW and we take each other to near death as the pit fiend closes in. I run first as the Pit Fiend fireballs Tamoko, causing her to panic. I've glugged an extra healing potion and two hits finish her off. Three hits sort out the Pit Fiend but there are now three Mordenkainen Swords that I cannot injure and Semaj has fireshields active. I summon the Berserk Warrior to occupy him but six swords are cutting into me. I head to the barrier by the stairs and hide. Semaj doesn't waste long and as he starts to cast I decide to lay on hands and aim my sling at him.
With seven swords after me I have to run or be boxed in. I glug a second potion of invulnerability to counter a chaos and try to keep a clear route around the summons. After I while I manage to hide again, and aim my sling with only the mage in sight. We trade unlimited but ineffective bullets against mostly ineffective spells while his swords start to unsummon. Two GWW's of bullets finish him off and I write about a new ability in my journal (pity it doesn't remove level drain).

I attack and kill the Woodcutter but after several spells his mage insta-kills me. Reload20, be nice to the Woodcutter.
This time the Woodcutter points me to some carts where two umber hulks and two drow are found. I deal with them before heading in to a Hive Mother. She wounds me badly so I heal and use GWW bullets as well as sending in Kitthix, the Berserk Warrior and Spectral Brandling. It takes 11 bullet GWW's and a dozen or so potions to kill off the Hive Mother, retreating to glug after each GWW. This of course allows her to heal twice and stoneskin twice, extending the battle (might be a different matter if I had the Sling of Seeking and it actually worked in ToB).
The Woodcutter points me towards some graves but I've seen them already and call his bluff. As he attacks I GWW the life out of him with the Berserk Warrior and Spectral Brandlet near a mage and Kitthix near two warriors. A thief tries to backstab me but I'm moving away from the mage. The thief frontstabs me but I have just GWW'd for a fighter so retaliate. Whenever the mage approaches I retreat, finishing any GWW's with bullets. Soon the backstabber and two fighters are dead too, but my magic resistance has been reduced (from 93% to 3%, nasty). A second backstabber arrives so I rotate between melee, ranged and glugging. With them all dead I make the mistake of moving towards the graves. Two gauth, several fighters and another mage later I am more than ready for a rest.
The entrance to an enclave is nearby and I have gone from feeling confident to concerned; my last monk run was benefitting from items (cloak, ring, etc) that I don't have the luxury of this time around.

Abigail has completed Pocket Plane Challenge 1.
Anyone seeking an indicator of how confident I am in a battle need only check Abigail's Quickslots. If you see the Wand of Wonder AKA the Wand of Totally Fracking Desperate, Maybe I'll Get Lucky and Petrify Something, that means I'm getting a little panicky. Abigail kept it close as long as Bodhi was alive- even after discovering her weakness.
The battle began with the standard Time Stop->Demon Festival from Jon-Jon.

Then a whole lot of running. In contrast with Abigail's earlier fight with Jon in Hell, these ones, at least, wouldn't need killing: only patience. Potion of Invisibility + Oil of Speed kept Abigail safe. Unholy Blights were the threat.

When the Demon's left, Abigail cast Shield of the Archons -and read a ProUndead Scroll- before begining the hammer assault on Sarevok. Happily, ProUndead worked against Bodhi even though she can not be Turned by a Level 39 Cleric.

While using The Thrower against Sarevok, Abigail made progress on Jon's Skins with an occasional Dispel.

He's getting near the end now.

Shadow Dragon Armor helped once again in the MMA, COrb phase.

Down with Sarevok.

And Jon-Jon too.

Just the Vamp left now. The concern here was Bodhi's regen rate. Considered dispelling ProUndead to bring Aura of Flaming Death into play, but ultimately went ahead with just Deva->Harm->Energy Blades.

Fin!

Time for sleep. Abigail will probably take on Gromnir tomorrow.
Best,
A.

Inside the enclave I remove a myconid king, four spore colonies, umber hulks and spiders then plane-rest outside the drow barracks. Thelynn'ss the kensai must die first; I can't afford to see lots of glugging and repeated GWW's or Critical Strikes used against me.

After that I work around the room (reaching level 40), then pocket-plane to rest and store excess potions. The North Tunnels have a Slavemaster so I use Hardiness, monk speed and Improved Invisibility to reach the far end and GWW him. It takes a few GWW's and I have to glug two potions of extra healing on the hoof.

Even with auto-pause (target gone) temporarily enabled I am swarmed and have to escape into the next area where two Glabrezu injure me further. I look for another exit then double back instead of risking the Southern Tunnels. I return through the Northern tunnels to the drow barracks and only then do I realise I've switched to my sling at some point - no wonder I was getting injured in melee. I heal and add Hardiness before returning to the Northern tunnel and clearing it out. The bag of holding is emptied into a pocket-plane container (taking many minutes) then I return to the tunnels. I really shouldn't look into the Southern one but I have to see how Lashar'ra fares. Two GWW's then.

I auto-pause GWW the cluster of spiders then kill the rest to emerge with 62/122hp and no healing. The two Glabrezu have been lured into a false sense of security when battling my sling, and one melee GWW drops them both. Some spiders, two umber hulks, two umber hulk elders and a drow party later I am faced with the abode of Odamaron (I vaguely know it is enhanced). I plane-rest, save and buff. Odamaron casts Timestop but I have stayed back to detect two traps then moved back further to sling a skeleton warrior and the time passes quietly. I use WW then GWW to drop both skeleton warriors but Odamaron has teleported next to me. His second Timestop will be more fun then. He gates in two Pit Fiends but one GWW shows them I could take on 70Gates. A Dark Planetar is summoned and a Fallen Planetar arrives - it may be inconsistently named but I recognise the need to run until it returns home.

I head towards "The Apprentice", intending to kick it on the way past but it casts PfMW so I continue running. My fists bounce off Odamaron (had to try it) then the apprentice adds a third Timestop - peaceful once more. I test Spectral Brand on Odamaron - no luck either so I am in for some fun and need to think of a plan B. I start a container-grab as a second Timestop from the apprentice adds more tranquility. As I approach what was shown earlier as a trapped container I can't help but notice a second apprentice lich has appeared and it looks rather vampiric. I grab the Skull of the Lich and depart. Have I got an urgent need for Cespenar or what?
The resulting upgrade is truly made for a monk, +5 to hit and NPP addresses two key weaknesses at long last (and something I didn't do in my no-reload monk run).

Time to try out the new toy - no rest (for the wicked Odamaron so I have less of his heinous spells to face). First impressions are good - apart from confirming I must stay away from the Planetar.

I glug a couple of healing potions as we lap the room, topping up whenever necessary. The Planetar unsummons as a Mordenkainen arrives. I drag two magic missiles around the room (so this is what a CERNd-portrait particle accelerator would look like). Two Mordy's are following me so I lure them away and return to try a Spectral GWW on the vampiric lich apprentice as a third sword arrives.

Odamaron is still protected from my damage but it triggers various defensive buffs. A fourth sword arrives while I keep out of a chaos/teleport field and a cloudkill type of area. I hide for a while, some swords hanging around and others attacking Odamaron as his area effects distract them - he is immune but his stoneskins have been removed, re-activated and removed again. I decide to hang around until some of the five swords retire, but then sneak in and out to force some spells out of Odamaron and his remaining apprentice.
I hit the apprentice (immune) then lead a new sword away before returning. Odamaron is immune and stoneskins as I hide again. I leave them in a new cloudkill and hit again. More Mordy's and another chaos area effect. The last sword forces another stoneskin so I try a Spectral GWW. The final hit does 20 damage so I GWW again.

The second apprentice has dual-fireshields running so I use my unlimited bullets to check for a stoneskin. The GWW expires so I add a second and find the +2 bullets can hit him. His fire shields expire after 2 or 3 hits so I close in and Brand him back into the grave with what is left of my GWW.

Ogremoch 1. I get him to badly wounded but my 3 Hardiness and 16 GWW's have run out and I cannot beat his stoneskins any more. I've pocket-planed mid battle to grab more healing potions than I've glugged through the rest of ToB together. After about an hour I gave up. Reload21.
Ogremoch 2. I charm a Greater Earth Elemental. Armour Piercing Strike and GWW hit with the Answerer - 16 hits seems to make no difference and the Greater Earth Elemental repeatedly misses so I GWW with fists again. I have no problem hitting him, just can't stay long enough to remove his stoneskins and injure him. After about 45 minutes I gave up. Reload22.
Ogremoch 3. I leave the enclave in search of items. I return with a Potion of Absorbtion, Hardiness, Improved Invisibility, Spectral Brand and GWW. It is going well - able to put 7 or 8 GWW's together (and then the game crashes).
Ogremoch 3b. The Greater Earth Elemental saves against charm so I kill it. Again I string several GWW's together but he stoneskins quickly and is barely injured (suspect that happened in attempt 3 too). His dispels eventually neutralise the absorbtion and I stay too long while trying to maximise a GWW, and am killed. Reload23.
I stop for the night to consider my options. His hits dispel and with only one potion of absorbtion this causes me problems. His stoneskins can refresh quicker than I can remove them, my GWW's need to be saved for when his stoneskins run out but are also needed to remove them. I only have limited summons, so will have to think carefully before trying again. 1-2 GWW's with The Answerer followed by an attack with summons to help against stoneskins seems the best bet. I need a stoneskin mule to test The Answerer on - with everybody summoned in my pocket plane I'm sure I can find a volunteer.

I forgot to say earlier I have the Gargoyle boots so have a brief moment of stoneskin myself.
Aerie casts crash-test-dummy stoneskin and I confirm The Answerer still increases her armour class. She adds mantle and I increase it further. Each hit lasts a short while (24 seconds, 4 rounds?) which means I'd have to be GWWing Ogremoch constantly. I don't feel comfortable with that so see if I can use the Chaos blade, but Haer'dalis won't confide how it works.
Weapons that ignore stoneskin are my next thought. Spectral Brand has +1d6 Cold Damage. Aerie yells in pain as I test my theory. Hmm. Interesting, but can I bring anything else to the party.
Usuno's Blade and Dagger of the Stars both cause greater elemental damage but only a 5-10% chance of them, whereas Spectral Brand is a 100% certainty (similar to the FoA then).
The Gnasher club does 2 damage per round for 4 rounds, while Aerie showed no damage I wonder if they count as separate hits for a cumulative de-stoneskin. Step forward please Aerie. A brief check shows she has 7 stoneskins, so she adds a guinea-pig stoneskin and I hit her three times with the club. I wait a minute or two and nothing happens so I hit her with my fists and after four more hits the stoneskin collapses. Gnasher is no good then. I'm still thinking though.
I look through the junk I've accumulated in my

Ogremoch 4 has a film feeling (e.g. Mickey telling Rocky to stay down against Apollo Creed). If the cold damage works against Ogremoch I'm reasonably confident I can outmelee and out-drink him, if it doesn't work I'll be slamming the door on him and in serious trouble about how to continue.
The second Greater Earth Elemental saves against charm, so I kill it with unbuffed melee. I've saved my WW in case I need it later and summon Kitthix plus the Berserk Warrior. Ogremoch Stoneskins as I GWW. He hits me for 24 and I hit him for 2 - this is going to be a long and painful day. I retreat to buff and slam the door as the Berserk Warrior heads to Valhalla and Kitthix is squashed. I add stoneskin and Absorbtion before summoning Spectral Brandlet.

As a GWW expires I try a Wand of Cursing but his Magic resistance blocks it. My next GWW sees The Answerer land 8 hits (for 120% magic resistance reduction). I run back and use the second Wand of Cursing - save vs spell of 20, you've got to laugh. I switch back to Spectral Brand and run until my aura clears then add another GWW. Three minor hits are followed by three un-stoneskinned hits and he is suddenly badly injured (much quicker than before).

Three more hits (still badly injured) then he criticals me and my absorbtion plus stoneskin fades so now I am faced with a slug-fest. I hit again and he is near-death but my GWW expires. I really should add Hardiness but his defences are down...

I try another GWW instead and two hits land before he stoneskins. A third hit applies cold damage before I slam the door (let's "role play" this and pretend I'm hanging on to the door to keep it closed) to re-apply the expired Hardiness and the second Gargoyle boots Stoneskin.

I open the door and GWW which convinces Ogremoch to stoneskin yet again. We trade blows, my stoneskin removed but it has saved me one hit. I have two critical misses then three hits. Two more hits then he hits me. Three more hits and another GWW (pausing after each hit to see if I need to fight or flee). My third hit has done 21 damage so his stoneskins are down again and I have half this GWW left. Two more hits and he is iced.

I hope that helps others with some ideas on what to do....and more importantly what not to do. I'd like to see a barbarian with hardiness, Roranch helmet, girdle of Bluntness and a decent offhand choice - must be able to get over 100% crushing damage to heal on hit!
