Anyone miss this? I know David said we can expect less scheduled talks with our companions and probably closer to DAO's system. But I remember him saying it won't necessarily be the party camp but could be something like taverns.

But man, I want the party camp back. Maybe it's just me but sitting around a campfire and talking to my companions is always relaxing. It makes more sense if we're going to be visiting multiple countries in Thedas.

Games with campfires always relax me. I don't know why, maybe I'm weird. Heck, in DayZ I'll just randomly make a campfire somewhere. My friends ask me what I'm doing and I tell them to come sit by me and talk by the campfire...:P

Anyways, please bring the party camp back. Tents, companions, and campfires please. I liked interacting with companions when I wanted. I wouldn't mind seeing them expanding the party camp a little too. Like...letting a tent be my personal space? Customizing it and having my loyal Dog in there interacting with me? Maybe a crafting station? Chest storage?

I do miss the party camp. I do, however, think it would be fun to have it vary every so often. If we're going to be traveling the whole map then it would make sense to me that you won't always be at a camp site. A tavern or inn would be nice here and there. Let's face it... I'm sure we stink of battle and a hot bath would be nice. lol

I agree in that I absolutely loved the party camp in Origins. It gave a sense of coziness and comfort after exploring one of the areas. However I think they should switch it up a little with DA3. While I still think everyone should be in one place, as it makes everything far more fluid in that I don't have go to five different areas with five different loading screens just to stay connected with my companions, I think it would be a cool idea to have them be on a ship or something like that.

I hate the Party Camp. I'd like the sense of my companions having agency and doing things rather than just following me along waiting for me to talk to them or click "add to party."

Assuming we will indeed travel around Thedas (or a big piece of land, at least), I would like a campfire that changes over time. After all, when having such big travels we can't exactly make camp in the exact same place all the time.

I'm probably wishing too much though.

I liked the Part Camp but I liked how in DA2 your companions actually had their own lives. Maybe a mix of both for DA3. When you are traveling for a mission you have a camp but between main missions you can visit your companions in their homes/hangout spot.

I was thinking this while we're not on the road and when we are, the party camp is accessible and they move around the camp doing their thing.

you should be able to stay in inns and make camp where ever you want!

So an open world game? Hah, not happening.

I would like to see more of the companion's interacting with each other in the party camp or tavern. The cutscenes with Dog were great.. I would love more of those but between the human characters. It would be nice to choose the location: campfire or tavern.

So you mean like if we're in a snowy mountain range, the camp should have snow? I'd like that. And for the tavern/inn lovers, that could be camp when you stop in a city. It's not open world, just variations.

very disappointed, I thought you guys meant there would be some kind of camp where the PC could go and throw wild parties...

but I guess a place to talk to companions would be nice too

I think it would be pretty cool if we'd get to stay in different places depending on the situation/area. So perhaps in the beginning we have no choice but to camp or stay in abandoned shacks as we travel cross country, but then once arriving in a big city or town we'd stay in a tavern/inn, then perhaps we'd save some Noble from Bandits and he'd invite us to stay in his chateau for a few days during a couple of related quests or something. Just to switch things up a bit.

I like the DA:O and DA2 methods of party interaction about equally.

But if we're going to have a central 'hangout' for all the companions together, whether it be inn or Inquisitor headquarters or campsite, I would like it to feel more alive. The party members should move around and interact with each other, instad of running off to their separate corners and ignoring each other, like in DA:O.

I liked the camp rather than the characters just standing in other random locations.

If the characters actually wandered around their own home, or the tavern, or actually moved about - it might be ok...but they were just standing there....doing nothing..until you clicked on them...then you would re walk through the door and they would be all like "Oh, nice to see you here.."

It was just creepy.

Would be better then DA2 where your followers stayed in the same placed for seven years, or be like Fenris and never clean up the corpses in your house. :/

I miss having all followers in one place. I do miss the party camp. In DA2 it could have been The Hanged Man.

I think the party camp stretches credulity a little, especially in areas like Denerim. Why were we randomly camped somewhere instead of, say, in an inn? I think it might work to have a rotating backdrop for the party camp depending on where you are in the game. If you're in a city, everybody's at an inn. If you're out in the open, camp. It makes a little more sense.

But I do agree that the convenience of the party camp is worth the occasional weirdness of it.

While I missed having all the companions in one convenient cozy camp (eliminating the need to zone 6-7 times to talk to them all) I also enjoyed the idea they were out in the city/world doing their own thing too. A combination of the two systems would be great!

I like the idea of a tavern in a city where they've all gathered. Those not actively speaking to the Protagonist could be shown in postures of drinking or playing cards, or in the case of a romanced partner you go to a room for some privacy (not necessarily sex, but to discuss something intimate or private between the protagonist and their SO), or a set camp area you can go to if you're 'traveling' as a spot on the map to get everyone all together in one spot. Then if you're in town, they have their own place they prefer to hang out in. A boat would really tickle me, I really wanted to sail away with Isabela at the end of DA2, but if the game is set in one geographical area (Orlais, Val Royeaux, etc) it may not be feasible.

Some really good ideas/viewpoints expressed already on this thread.

the camp was cool, the atmosphere and all that so Im not against it unless it makes no sense.
It should make sense. If thats houses or bars then thats completely fine. I really dont think they should share bunk beds or anything...

If we do keep companions indefinitely even without using them (a feature I don't really like), then yes I'd like to have them all in one place.  The party camp is worth it for the inventory management benefits alone.

I miss the party camp.
It made me feel like these people were actually a group instead of ten seperate people that just so happen to follow the same person.
