I'm with you.
I'm about a month in, and it doesn't seem to be letting up that much.

Going to be a fun topic for the therapist. ^_^

Synthetics killing organics was exactly what I saw in ME 1.

im with you there.  it seems to have always been about this.  the scope changes,  you learn more - but at its core this has always been a major theme

ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME?

You do realise that it was THE REAPERS controlling these synthetics, right? RIGHT!?

Or are you trolling?

whoa Jade!  Image IPB

They werent being controlled - they were bribed by tech and power.  corrupted like man can be

Think she meant they were following Nazzara's orders(or Saren who was following Naz's orders), controlled in a sense since they were killing organics on Nazzara's or Saren's whim and not really because they just felt like, kind of like how soldiers follow some orders regardless of how horrible they are, but yeah not brainwashed like they were in ME3.
Before: K weird glowing boy
After end credits:  WTF

after credits reaction approved.  Image IPB

But even tho they were taking orders after being bribed this doesn't diminsish their threat.  Synthetics are stronger, smarter and cabable of reproducing much, much quicker.  Very dangerous!  It's a "theme" of the game, thats all I was saying.  We've proved we can hug it out for now so the end goes against this but the threat is still very real...

Every single AI threat out there has been dealt with.  The Heretic geth?  Completely wiped out by a small 3 man team to a space station.  - Became problem due to REAPER INTERVENTION.

EDI?  Deactivated on Luna and turned into an ally.

Zah'til?  Destroyed by blowing up their star.  - Became problem due to REAPER INTERVENTION.

Reapers?  Pwnt.

Almost every single problem with AI has been because the reapers have made it so.  They are a self fulfilling prophecy - every instance where reapers are not to blame - the Organics have persevered and won.

Hell look at rannoch.  They were almost defeated.  Went back and were kicking ass.  Until REAPER INTERVENTION gave them upgrades.

There never really was an Organic/Synthetic Conflict.  To me its always been a Everyone else/Reaper conflict.

Geth vs Quarians is no different to me than Krogan vs Galaxy.

Up until the final mission of ME3 I was literally telling everyone that this was the best game series ever. I recommended it to sooo many people and often cited that Mass Effect 2 was voted 'best game of all time' by some random poll.

When I finished ME3, I felt sick. I felt like I just watched my favorite video game story purged by some vengeful writer who wanted to 'torch the franchise and run'. I immediately tried the other two options to see if it was a trick, and upon realizing it wasn't, I finally joined the Mass Effect 3 thread on my gaming network of friends to find out what all the hubbub was about.

It was there I saw that nearly everyone agreed that Mass Effect 3 destroyed the series for them and made them never want to play any of the previous games again.

But whatever, it doesn't matter anymore, it's done, and this is what it is. I agree with all of them and Total Biscuit that the ending to Mass Effect is 'total bollocks' and is way too forced bittersweet (I respect those that disagree, of course). And I no longer can recommend Mass Effect to people when the ending makes all the previous accomplishments in the series pointless. But that is just me, it really depends on what you play an RPG for, but considering how it made me feel after I finished the game (and coincidently, most of my peers), I don't really want to recommend that to anyone.

I was waiting to get ME3 because I wanted to finish some of the dlc in ME2. But then I starting hearing things about ME3's ending. I didn't believe them at first, I just thought people were over reacting. I was still excited to play it cause its ME and the final game in the trilogy. I honestly thought that the endings were gonna be good and people were just exaggerating. I got ME3 in july and played it. Finished the game and to keep it short I was pissed and thought how could anyone think these endings were a good idea.

My thoughts too, except I had preordered it, and I bought the day 1 DLC when I picked it up, even though those annoy the hells out of me. Since I hadn't finished Skyrim, I put it aside.  I know people who planned their days off and even took their vacations that week so they could play non-stop. I started hearing the ending was a real WTF. One relative described it as a punch in the gut when Tali jumped off that cliff. I kept thinking, "But they promised us all those endings, they must have done something wrong," until I got around to playing it. Then I joined the WTF chorus. I even held my nose and tried MP to get more war assets, though I really hate MP. And the EC hasn't done anything to change my mind, Bioware.

I've gotten cynical. I am holding the line, and will not give Bioware another dime until we get a decent ending. It's effected other games too. I am no longer interested in preordering from anyone and cancelled my preorder of Assassins Creed III. Now I'll wait and see what the peer reviews are, and ignore the game sites and mags reviews, since they're all bought and paid for. I know others who are saying the same thing. I could see devs from other companies hiding out at the next con until the Bioware team comes by, then grabbing them and giving them a blanket party.

Same for me. I no longer pre-order any game. If something seems interesting enough, I'll wait for the fan feedback. I will not put myself through this kind of disappointment again. Don't get me wrong, I love the whole ME series from ME1 to ME3, passionately but.... yeah, the ending. I don't know if I'll be getting any new DLC, either. What's the point of getting something new, nice and shiny for the game, when you still get totally depressed in the end? :?

Exactly this. What's the point if it's not going to give us real closure and still leave us with that hollow feeling in the end? Money is tight, so why throw it away on pointless DLCs?

This has happened to me aswell. And the current pre-order - gift system has made me skip a few titles all together. I
was interested in Borderlands, but wanted to wait for user reviews. Then I found out that you get a LOT of goodies when you pre-order (including one character class) and after hearing that buying the game after release date felt like buying an incomplete game. The same is happening with Halo4 and X-Com:Enemy Unknown. At the moment I'm very unsure wether or not I have the comfortability to pre-order either of those, but if I dont, I'll lose some neat features. Might be that I'll end up skipping both of those titles for a while aswell.

As much as I loved the first 2 games, I was really worried after playing the single-player demo. The auto-dialogue was awful. I figured that maybe the actual game would be better.

Nope.

After waiting an hour installing codes, downloading, & installing, I finally played the first few hours, hating it more & more. The awful dream sequence with vent boy followed by not being able to tell the Turian councilor to go **** himself was the end for me.

If Bioware wanted me to play their specific version of Shepard, why bother giving me choices in the first 2 games?

I had already heard about the horrendous ABC ending choice nonsense, so I put the game away until July.

Once 3 months spent in New Vegas had allowed me to care less that a previously beloved series was ruined, I forced myself to play the entire game, watching first the regular terrible ending followed by the extended longer version of terrible. I found myself going strongly renegade just because of how angry the failure of a game made me.

At least they retconned the destruction of the mass relays so the entire galaxy wasn't annihilated regardless of which color of space magic you choose.

I guess the other 9 imports I had ready will just have to sit in limbo until I decide to start drinking enough to not care about the ruination of what had been my favorite recent series.

Yeah, I played for about a week straight to do everything right and I loved it...right up until the last few minutes where I went, "huh?" It was 3 in the morning so I figured I was delirious and played the destroy ending again and went, "huh?"

I did the other endings and still went, "huh?" since all there really was, was different colors.

I do like the EC and it brings more closure to the story. I'm satisfied by the effort that was made to do that.

Overall, the game was gripping and emotionally intense. I really got the feelings of loss and desperation and roller coaster of victory and defeat.

I feel the same with my imports. The choices really dont matter so I only imported the one and its the only one I play when I feel like playing the SP and I had somewhere around 10-12 different imports.
