I have no problems with there being bisexualls in the game. i do have a huge problem with all of the love interests "magically" being bisexuall just to cater to the dating-sim crowd. Its downright immersion breaking, and thats a huge no no in rpgs. Having some gays, some straights and some bisexualls would be way better. That way my character wouldn`t end up looking like some sexual Mary Sue, like Hawke was.

I like having some NPCs who are unquestionably friends only. Having all of the characters being romanceable by any PC seems unrealistic and smacks of some sort of harem fantasy to me. I liked that ME3 had different pools of romanceable characters based on the PC's gender instead of making everyone Shepard-sexual.

But don't you kind of want that ego boost. "Who wouldnt want to be with me? I'm Commander Shepard." Many times the LI is completely enamared by you anyway. You aren't some Joe-Smoe, you are the champion, the warden, the commander. You are an example of your race and a hero. It should matter your actions far more then your sex to these people considering the issues your facing.

I don't want things to be realistic in a video game. Its a fantasy. And I want the character that I want to be at my side. For the people who don't want to romance a character its easy to turn them down or take the flirt as some weird joke. For a person who doesn't like any of the other LI however, the miss out on a special part of the game.

Why not? This is a fictional universe, people may not be as hung up about sexuality as in ours

How, precisely, is a bi (or straight, or gay) person supposed to act? Should they wear signs around their necks?

I've been on this rock long enough to realize that people don't talk about their orientation as a subject of casual conversation. There's no need. If they're interested, they let you know. If they're not, it doesn't matter. Maybe you'll find out if a friend brings a same-gendered person to a party and spends the entire evening licking their tonsils, but that isn't something that usually happens.

I'm also curious as to how someone could divine sexual orientation from casual conversation alone. I'll remark to a friend that so-and-so is an attractive actor/librarian/whatever, but even that doesn't mean anything. I'm straight, but I'm not blind. It doesn't hurt me to acknowledge that another female is pretty.

this, my memory is a bit fuzzy on this but werent there ZERO gay or lesbian characters in DA2? I like how ME3 did it, straight, gay and lesbian characters... DA2 just wrote off most characters as BI... because apparently a gay companion would have been too hard to write :P

Once again-- the romances are *not* "all bisexual". While some people don't like subjective sexuality, being aware of the fact some of your love interests could romance someone of the same gender in another game takes a back seat to fairness and fun gameplay. As I said before, if we have a sufficient number of romances, a spread of set sexualities would actually be my preference... but that's not always going to be the case, as the game's focus is not on romance content even if threads on the BSN often seem to be.

And since this topic inevitably goes downhill very quickly, I'll close this here.
