Opening Scene Narrators - Anders or Morrigan?

1) Anders. Anders should reflect on what he did in DA2, what led to the subjugation of the mages, how he ended up where he is (Awakening-->Grey Wardens-->Justice), and his motivation for blowing up the Chantry. He would recount the happenings since then leading up to the story at present. This narration can work if he is dead or alive. Either he recounts it as he sees it or he recounts as an omnipresent ghost, commenting about what he set in motion (the result being DA3).
2) Morrigan. We're all wondering what happened to her since DAO. Might be trickier if she is actually dead, but I have a feeling DA3 is going to assume she is alive because leaving that god-baby storyline handing would be rather disappointing. She would recount the Warden's journey and her own whereabouts post-Blight. She would relay what we saw of Flemeth in DA2 although she wouldn't know the details or why Flemeth did what she did. She would admit, though, that Flemeth is plotting something big and that this new chapter in history (DA3) will involve Flemeth, and she would hint about the god-baby. No details, since that would play out in the game.
3) Well, another obvious chioce would be Leliana, but her voice drives me crazy. Being an Orlais story that most likely has her play an active role, though, it might have to involve her.

Their voice work fits so well in the Dragon Age universe they could be talking about the correct way to milk a cow and I would probably be interested.
Even Cullen, who looks like he could be a main, could work well.

In that case, Anders... unless he too is dead.
Then, canonically-alive Varric.
It would be a neat trick to give us a taste of C&C right from the beginning.

Hey he pulled it off making her cute and actually somewhat coherent with that little unicorn from the old D&D cartoon! Plus, he's Petri from Land Before Time.
Morrigan > Anders, both her voice actress and her connection to the overall story. I feel Anders had his part to play in DA2, and let's leave him there.
Flemeth as an opening and closing narrator would be fantastic as she's tied just close enough to some of the events transpiring in Thedas now, as an omnipotent being (I tend to think she's either an old god or a very old dragon rather than a human being--time will tell I guess). And Kate Mulgrew does a fantastic job with her lines!
Some possible others who would be good are Leliana, Varric, Cassandra, Cullen...or maybe even a new NPC the protagonist meets in DA3 (a mentor like Duncan comes to mind).

But Bioware does love the "bring back the dead" thing since I killed Leliana and Anders before I played DA2 and they showed up >:U
Perhaps it would be the Divine? I'm assuming you'll met her in DA3

Flemeth would be possible as omniscient narrator, because I guess she will also be present in DA3.
If it is some kind of bards tale than Leliana is also possible.

Then Flemeth seems to have her hand in most everything.

4) Oghren will sit with a pint of Dwarven ale reflecting on the meaning og life. Suddenly Varric enters and a drinking contest is inevitable.
I'd love to see this too.

Maybe no narrator? Why not having the feeling that the action happens in real time and that not everything has already happened.
Well, for those who haven't played Origins or DA2, it would be a way to catch up. DA2 started out with Varric's narration telling how the Blight happened, a brief overview of the events at Ostagar and Lothering, and leading up to the Hawke family's flight from Lothering. For a player who has just become introduced to the story by playing DA2, it was an effective, efficient way to draw them into the events of the story and keep it personal (since Varric doesn't voice out every event of Origins, only uses it to set up the tale), and still allow them to enjoy the story as it unfolds.
I can easily immerse myself in Hawke's story and play it as if it were happening even if I know in the back of my head Varric is actually sitting in a chair telling Cassandra the story of Hawke, a few years after the events. It's one reason I always make Hawke fantastically gorgeous or handsome since Varric is basically turning Hawke into the medieval equivalent of a cinema star.

And if there is one thing that I did not like about DAII, then it was Leliana's necromancing. Not that I don't like the character, en contraire, that was exactly one reason I killed her along with the roleplaying I had going, to see how future Dragon Age games would handle the loss of such an intriguing character (let's face it, every single main character of DAO has enormous potential to change Thedas in some way or the other). And instead, I got a "hey, I got better".
Poor form. You can say about the rest of the game what you want provided you have substantiated opinions, but that was the one real nagging issue I had with DAII.
So, to not turn this topic into a "what I didn't like about DAII", I'll simply reiterate that TOs idea is a nice line of thought, but inapplicable without retconning a multitude of players' decisions/roleplaying, which I think would be horrible.

The problem is, unless BioWare wants to shamelessly retcon some players' decisions, is that Anders and Leliana can positively die, and that Morrigan, though not explicitely shown, has very little to no chances to survive the shanking that can occur at the end of her DLC.

Using the dead to narrate something isn't uncommon in fiction (and Origins does it with Duncan giving the narration at the end of the game, long after he's perished in Ostagar).
I'd just prefer they use a character with more of an impact on the course of the stories than Anders, who has a significant impact in DA2, not so much in later tales.

Good. Let me kill him again. Even in his ghost form.hobbit_of_the_shire wrote...
Just had a thought about the opening scene of DA3. It would depend of course on what the actual story is, but the opening narrative ought to be voiced by a former major character.
1) Anders. Either he recounts it as he sees it or he recounts as an omnipresent ghost, commenting about what he set in motion (the result being DA3).
So BioWare could change her personality like Merril and Anders? I doubt BioWare could even remember Morrigan's personality and expression.hobbit_of_the_shire wrote...

Her voice acting is consistent but she only appears once in awhile in DA 2, so couldn't tell much about her.hobbit_of_the_shire wrote...

We need a narrator to understand the meaning of those moving stone drawings which many people (myself included) like so much. Prologue is created to bring up to speed new players as well to fill in DA:O/DA2 players who didn't read books/comics yet want to know what happened between DA2 and DA:I
ME3 could have used a prologue. I was lost even after playing the first two games. So I think a narrated prologue is a must for a series like Dragon Age.
