Sten, while he has a nice voice actor, didn't strike me as an individual comfortable speaking. Whether this stemmed from the language barrier, or the subject matter, or simply his own private nature, I am unsure. His words were well chosen and he spoke volumes with as few lines as possible.

Agreed. Also, assuming the mage-templars feud will play a major role in the plot, I can't see Sten being particularly interested/knowledgeable about it.

Only Anders if its the voice actor from Awakenings and he makes random references about that 'other guy' in DA2 which caused so much trouble.

Sten doesn't play a huge role in things unless he comes back in DAIII, so it'd be hard to use him (is he even mentioned at all in DA2?). If an old character was chosen, it'd have to be someone that was in DA2 (or have important ties in DA2) at least. Morrigan, for instance, because Flemeth was a big character and she's tied in with her somehow.

The narrator would have to objective about the future journey. They of course could be skewed on past events. A Divine narrator would have to be objective and not say anything pro-Chantry in the introduction.

No to the Warden or Hawke. In addition to possibly not having played the previous games, we'd have to get the correct voice (need savegame for DA2 and DAO had no voice so how to choose?). No to the PC itself because not having played the PC yet, there is no emotional bond to it yet. Also, PC narration would railroad your path/thoughts probably. But I do fully support choosing PC BEFORE gameplay.

5. Mabari War Hound voices the opening.
Just think about it, it would be epic!

Ruff, ruff, ruffruff. Ruff, ruffruffruffRUFF, ruff, ruff, ruruff. Awooooooooooooooooo.

Mabari War Hound would have to be voiced by Frank WelkerPosted Image

Hey he pulled it off making her cute and actually somewhat coherent with that little unicorn from the old D&D cartoon!  Plus, he's Petri from Land Before Time.

Morrigan > Anders, both her voice actress and her connection to the overall story.  I feel Anders had his part to play in DA2, and let's leave him there.

Flemeth as an opening and closing narrator would be fantastic as she's tied just close enough to some of the events transpiring in Thedas now, as an omnipotent being (I tend to think she's either an old god or a very old dragon rather than a human being--time will tell I guess).  And Kate Mulgrew does a fantastic job with her lines!

Some possible others who would be good are Leliana, Varric, Cassandra, Cullen...or maybe even a new NPC the protagonist meets in DA3 (a mentor like Duncan comes to mind).

I was being serious with Frank Welker as the Mabari. He voiced Scooby in the Scooby Doo cartoons.

I'm not a big fan of the whole narrator thing, it made the time cuts and the ending feel cheap in DA2 and it only worked due to the long time span of the plot. I hope they will SHOW and not TELL the story of DA3:I.

I would love either of them to do it, honestly. I love Adam Howden's sexy, sexy voice. And Claudia Black's opening narration for Kingdoms of Amalur is pretty much the saving grace of the entire story.

Maybe for DAO your LI should tell the warden story in different perspectives so Morrigan would tell the same story differently than Leliana,if you didn't have any LI maybe it would be best for Oghren or Alistar to tell the story, but not in the same way as LI Alistar.

For DA2,also LI,if you have no LI varric :D

P.S I presonally would love to see Leliana telling the tale of my warden

Hawke should be the opening narrator. He was there at the beginning, and is pretty much the only one with the whole picture.

It should be Flemeth. She is the one pulling all the strings when it came to her recusing the warden and sending Morrigan with him/her in DA1 or saving hawke and co.

So she is atleast indirectly responsible for a lot of events in both DA1 and DA2. I am fairly sure she will end up meeting the PC in DA3 too. Thus making her the narrator will be significant as she'll be only an observer of the events and yet close enough to the action to have a view on it. Like she may change the tone or content of her narrative after each major quest depending upon the player choices. Frankly it will be more interesting than a generic narratic saying the same thing in a monotonous voice every time no matter what choices you took.

I want Fran Drescher, Gilbert Gottfried, or Richard Nixon's head from Futurama to narrator the entire game.

And no, I'm not joking about this!!

The Sten (actually he's the Arishok now), but speaking in Qunari. He should speak at great length, using many many words, with some passion even. This should go on for several minutes. The subtitles should read "The Grey Wardens defeated the Blight. The old Arishok was killed in Kirkwall. The kabethari, saarebas and bas all divided against themselves. It was madness."

Then begins the game proper.

This would be epic.  Failing that, Flemeth makes the most sense as an overarching character with enough perspective from outside the events to make her believable to those of us who have played all the games and offer a good introduction to her role for those new to the series.

I vote for Flemeth.

Anders is dead in all of my playthroughs, as he may be dead in many playthroughs, it would seem a needless expense for Bioware to have two different opening voice actors.

Since it is Orlais it could even be Leliana.

Obviously a somewhat more verbal Sandal should narrate the opening.

"There was a warden, and a dragon, and fighting, and then a champion. And then... Enchantment!"

Billy West. He also does the voices of Fry, Professor Farnsworth, Zoidberg and Zapp Brannigan.

He has done a lot of work outside of Futurama too, his range is impressive. I'm sure he could do something appropriate for Dragon Age.

We need a narrator to understand the meaning of those moving stone drawings which many people (myself included) like so much. Prologue is created to bring up to speed new players as well to fill in DA:O/DA2 players who didn't read books/comics yet want to know what happened between DA2 and DA:I

ME3 could have used a prologue.  I was lost even after playing the first two games.  So I think a narrated prologue is a must for a series like Dragon Age.

I never even played ME 1&2 and I was able to jump right in there lol

So I don't think we need a prologue. I think Duncan's voice was great for DA:O, but it needed that because it was a new story.

I actually like this because it sounds like he's got his sense of humor back xD which means he's booted Justice to the curb!

Thinking more on it, I think it should be Flemeth. She's going to be alive during the events of DA3 regardless and she has done a lot of important things in the DA verse, such as saving both the Warden and Hawke and seems to know about the coming 'storm' ie the war. Also she has a nice voice.
