I've been using this insult-turned-nickname from my youth: "Death." (I wore all black. Yeah, I was that girl...)

I thought it was fitting. Meet, the Grey Warden, Death. Then there's Death Hawke (my personal favorite). And soon ... Death-whatever in DA3.

You?

My usual choices (if I don't go the default name) have some meaning for me.

Examples of some of my favorite names:

Isabeau, come on that was a given for any fan of the movie and people were calling her "LadyHawke" on the boards prior.

Gawain means "White Hawk of Battle"--a grumpy S&S warrior type. He was not just aggressive, but a dick as well (though he had his own sense of honor).

Kit(ty) Hawke for my tongue in cheek, take nothing seriously rogue (and the run I consider the most 'canon' for me).

Lily Hawke (my sweetest, most diplomatic, pacifistic Hawke ever) with an appearance matching Emma Frost from the Xmen. She used ice/creation magics.

Roland (one of my favorite male names ever) which means 'famed throughout the land', which kind of fits a "Champion" of Kirkwall.

The only names I have that make sense are Dumat Surana. Dragon of Silence, silent protagonist, it's funny, see? Following that was Zazikel Hawke, after the Dragon of Chaos, which just seemed to fit Hawke so well. My inquisitor will be named after an Old God, but I'll need more info to decide which one.

Something overtly French if the protagonist is Orlesian. Jean-Baptiste, for example.

LOL I never had the courage to name one "Chicken" Hawke though!

I suppose it's too early for me to tell at the moment. If its in Orlais, I will go with Roland probably again (as it's a French name) and something else with a Frankish tone for the female. If I like the default names I just use them (as I did with my Avatar, Neria Surana). I also went with the default on my Orlesian Warden as well, Leonie.

i'm thinking maybe Haley (if we got the dog again i might name it nate) casue my warden was named Payton (her dog was named Lucas) and Hawke was named Brooke (didn't get the dog might have named it Dan) it's a one tree hill theme :)

Either my real name or Kyle (My most commonly used name since Jedi Knight) or Alissa.

Something Irish probably. Or something like  Ishka, Florence or Sidra

I do tend to use my real name a lot, or spelling-variations thereof. I am so not creative with my RPG names. I am envious of all these ideas. A French name sounds like a good idea, admittedly.

After learning BioWare's plan to take over your character in future installment, I don't know if it worth the effort anymore.

How about "Darth Death"? Sounds perfect to me.

I usually use my name first, then something Polish(Mieczyslawa Hawke, Kazimiera Shepard, etc.), then whatever. I have a long list of names already on since I'm studying creative writing...

Isabeau also sounds French to me...so maybe Roland for a male protagonist and Isabeau for a female?

I'm terrible with names in RPGs. Choosing one takes me longer than customizing their look.

So if I like the default name, I'll probably go with that. Couldn't do that in DA 2, because I hated the name 'Marian' for my FemHawke. It didn't fit. I named her Leah instead.

And if the DA 3 PC is Orlesian, I'm probably going to name her Belle. Because I'm original like that. And because I don't know any other french names. xD

I'll probably use a name I like from Game Of Thrones. A female blood mage would be cool with the name Melisandre, and a male rogue that uses dual blades would fit the name Theon. I know I regret the names I choose sometimes. What was I thinking when I named my DA2 character Thor Hawke?!

Maybe Datura ,it's a plant , people used to think it was "witches' weeds" because it's super toxic and can make somebody hallucinate .
It's a cool name for a future mage .

Maybe, but don't give me the Goldanna treatment if I decide to pull an Alistair.;)

I enjoyed playing as a Female Hawke for my canon, I might do it again for this one. If so, I'll call her Katherine or Saskia. If it's a dude however, I'll call him Robb or Tyrion in honour of the (p)imp.

Depends if there is a surname involved too. I'm obviously not going to use Tyrion for 'Kennedy.'

Exactly. Can't choose until I know it.
