I'll note that Fiona wasn't too badly affected by being possessed by a demon in The Calling. But Fiona is also very tough.

Fiona's the first to f-bomb the Chantry. What a woman!

Irving does point out it's because Connor made a deal with the Desire Demon. As long as the mage willingly made a bargain with a denizen of the Fade, which was the case with Connor, it can (apparently) be reversed. That isn't always the case with possession. Uldred, who lost a battle of wills after summoning more demons than he could control, would not be able to have the same procedure done.

Thanks, LobselVith8. You make an interesting point, and I do remember Irving saying that, but that still doesn't make much sense to me. I mean, once you've been vulnerable to a demon's manipulations/sought out demons to make a deal with, wouldn't you be considered weak and a lost cause? I thought that was the whole justification for killing blood mages and abominations to begin with. And if a mage is tricked into helping a demon in the Harrowing, for example, doesn't that fall under the category of a "curable" possession and therefore the Templars should not be killing these apprentices?

I imagine the apprentices could be saved if that was the case. There are reasons why people get into debates over the Chantry controlled Circles.

There seem to be blood mages who don't use their powers for evil or go on demonic rampages (Malcolm Hawke and Merrill come to mind), can possession be the same thing? Again, that brings me back to my OP.

It's just a very complicated topic, like I said. Hopefully with the mage vs. Chantry war coming to a head, we will get some clarity.

There is also the example of Pharamond, the tranquil mage from Asunder who was possessed, and restored from tranquility as a consequence.

Circle needs clever and talented mages. Everyone else gets a lucky sunshine sticker on their forehead or a headcut.

Talent is a requirement for the Harrowing.
Testing Fade survival skills is the purpose of the Harrowing.

Still, death or tranquility seem like a steep price for not being "talented." Worse than an F. Mage school is hard. :P

I'd like to see Connor and Feynriel in DA3. They have too many conflicting things we've been told about possession and if it's even possible to recover. I'd like to see the writing cover this a little more.

Unfortunately, my main PC handed Isolde the murder knife to kill Connor. Her punishment for making me hear her "Tegan" cries. So, if he's included, I'll only get to see him on my second import...:crying:

Oh, it just occurred to me...for certain players who made certain choices, isn't Jowan fleeing Ferelden a possibility, as well...? :P

Connor, Feynriel, Flemeth, God Baby (maybe, baby), Jowan, Anders...any other "dubious" mages I've forgotten? Assuming they are alive according to your choices, of course. I wouldn't call Rhys or Sandal dubious, but there is potential for further story there, as well.

Also, I know there are people on other threads who have stated that they don't like so many past cameos because it makes the world feel too small and closed, but the devs have already pointed out that since the protagonist isn't carried over from game to game, then it is the other common characters and locations that unite the series. And sometimes in RL you really do run into people from your past when you least expect it in the strangest places or have common acquaintances with other friends you didn't know knew each other (I know it seems to happen to me surprisingly often, anyway, LOL). There are a lot of loose threads regarding NPCs that I would like to see tied up and the only way to do that at this point is to either feature them or at least mention their fate in future DA games (or books and comics, I suppose).

Plus, I just like all the DA characters. :3
