I'm talking about a BioWare game, a WRPG taking the generations aspect of some RPGs and making it their way in their own games.

Right, just taking generational elements into account,  aging and introducing new characters and really using the passage of time, in a much more realized, important to story kind of way than DA2, which may as well have been the next day for all that changed.

A story driven RPG of a decent length (say, 60 - 80 hours) that let's you play through three generations of a family (20 - 25 hours for each character maybe?) and concludes with all three of the characters teaming up at the end to take down the big bad could be pretty awesome. When I think about it, Dragon Age seems like the right series to give this a shot. Maybe it's something we can see for Dragon Age 4.

Not only would it be a cool way to see the growth of your own characters and a way to explore family, something BioWare's admittedly not that great at, it'd also be quite cool to see how your companions evolve over the years.

I was actually having a discussion with someone about this the other day, although not in relation to DA3.

A game where you had a party based RPG, but you could groom a younger squad mate to take your place - and then your main character dies / leaves halfway through and then you take over the groomed character - who then has to deal with the consequences of your original characters choices years earlier.

Isn't the end of Red Dead Redemption, when you switch to the son as char such a multi generation thing?

Or the end of Mafia 1, when the gangsters shoot you as old man.

It's a little bit of it, yeah. RDR's is very cool, a little cold retribution. ;)
Also, I thought the way they handled family life on the ranch was exceptionally well done. It's one of the best games ever made imo.
