I'm pretty sure allowing you to randomly murder your companions isn't on their to do list.

Anywhere on it, to be certain.

No. I'm all for killing companions but only under certain conditions.

I support this, because I believe we should have the option to do anything. Also, companions should try to kill us more often.

The PC is supposed to be a hero.

Not a psychopath.

Having the option to either off the companions yourself or just tell them to get lost, are both good features.

Origins had it and even DA2 had it to a lesser extent.

Tell them to go away, yes. Kill them, no it never did.

Defend yourself and kill them, yes. But that's a far cry from simply wanting to kill them just to kill them.

Honestly the only thing that came to mind when I read this was: why? Why on earth would you want something like that?

Um... yeah, no. There should be some sort of condition or reason to kill off characters, ignoring them or telling them to go away at anytime should be fine, but killing? It comes across as a little childish to me, if you don't at least learn about their character and views first. It could create situations like this:

Mage- Inquisitior, I wish to join your party and offer my magic to aid you.
Inquisitor- ... Yeah, I don't like your haircut.
Mage- I- What?
Inquisitor- You die.
Mage- But I-Gaaaaah!
Other Companion- Maker! What did you kill him for!? He wanted to HELP us!
Inquisitor- Your hair is starting to look stupid too...

Why not? Some characters are annoying & need a good killing. Nothing inhumane about it.

You could kill Zevran and Leliana, and leave Sten to die.

I expect the reasons people would have for wanting to kill any particular character woudl be as different as the people playing the game.

And I'm not really saying that companions should be killable all the time, but the option to do so should come up at least once (or more) depending on the character in question and how one plays the game.

Zevran tried to kill you.

As for Leliana, when? When you first meet her? I didn't know that.

Calling leaving Sten the same thing as killing him is a little unfair.

But I do see what you mean.

Well, there is a big difference between killing a companion if he or she tried to kill you or for some other story related issues and then just randomly killing people left and right because they are "annoying" or you just don't like them.

Leliana can be killed during the Sacred Ashes quest.

In fact, nearly all companions in DAO can die/ be killed along the way, but in plot-relevant moments. Which I support (although killing party members is something I never do).

I think that the option to "fire" at will any given companion and tell them to get lost would be a better way to go.  It allows players to get any characters they don't care for out of their hair, and it preserves the characters themselves for future use.

To be fair, there may exist occasions when your character might feel he has legitimate reasons to kill a character, but the writers haven't anticipated this.

Doubt having this option would be worth the hassle though, not when the companions are tied into the story

Which I don't blame you for (in addition to being ridculous it's a coding nightmare). Would there however be more optional companions? I.E you can ask them to leave or they leave on their own and that's the end of it? Sort of like how in DAO with the exception of Dog and Alistair you could ask any companion to leave at any time?

Yeah this is what I meant pretty much. I <3 the please leave feature from DAO. It was perfect and made sense. Meanwhile in DA2 I'm constantly boggled how my Hawke who's trying to lay low keeps association with 2 non subtle apostates. >_>

Never understood where the urge to murder companions who disagree with you is coming from.
