I saw this on the XCOM website, but I'm going to credit Rock Paper Shotgun because PCGMR and their post reminded me.
The upcoming game XCOM: Enemy Unknown game is a tactical TBS. To show off how player choices can impact the playthrough, Firaxis released a trailer where the viewer can make broad choices in the deployment and equipment of their squad and then see how those might play out.
I was thinking this is really similar to the blog posts from a couple months ago concerning DA3 companions and how their gear will be implemented. This kind of trailer would be the perfect way to demonstrate that without releasing any kind of demo or actual program. For all I know, this is a common method of showing off upcoming games, but I've certainly never seen anything like it before. When the DA team is ready to show off some stuff (and seriously take your time
) I think this would be a great way to do it.
Completely agree, I'd love to see an interactive trailer like the one for
XCom Enemy Unknown., or this
interactive Dishonored trailer that lets you sort of play through one of the levels, making different choices and it really gives a good idea of the gameplay. This is so much more helpful for getting the sense of a game compared with a CGI trailer, for example.
I don't recall ever seeing a trailer like this before for a previous game, but I hope to see more, particularly for an RPG with different ways to complete quests, etc. Is this perhaps a new trend for game trailers?
Hope they make one for DA3!
