As the title says I've tried to do this game solo nightmare as a rogue. My guidelines are to fight every fight possible and not to use any game glitches. For instances where the game doesn't give you a choice about having a party (e.g. the beginning of the game and ostagar), I set my party's tactics to cautious, disabling their tactics script, removing all their equipment, and move them as far from the fight as possible.

Setting the tactics to cautious keeps them from attacking when being melee'd. Disabling their tactics script keeps mages from casting spells or using abilities that might inadvertently help. Removing all their equipment makes my main the target of attack (If the loading screen text is to be believed, the most heavily armored character draws more aggro.) coming out of cut scenes that are followed by fights. Moving the others as far from the fight as possible makes the opponents focus solely on my main.

Caveat 1: Because I'm a rogue I don't have any control over who the AI enemies attack. So coming out of a cut scene the baddies still attack my butt nekkid companion occasionally.
The Dalish elf origin was doable except that there's an optional undead fight that's kicked my arse so far. I think I can get by it with better stat/skill allocation...
Caveat 2: I didn't use any bugs like the lvl up bug in Ostagar.

The Human suffers from not having a shop or a means of getting bomb components. Maybe your skill choice determines what you get from stealing?

Only the male city elf has made it to Ostagar. The reason is because:
1. You get to lvl 2 without fighting a single battle or opening a single locked chest.
2. If you take steal as your first skill, you get 2-3 (I forget which) extra lesser heal pots.
3. You get significantly more xp than female city elf origin because you can opt to fight your way into the Arl's estate as a male.
4. If you plan it right, you fight the end lvl boss just as you get to lvl 3 and lvl up in mid fight, thus saving you health pots and replenishing stamina.

I found the start to be really tough due to the derth of skills and uncertainty of how to allocate stat points. I put all stats into dex, used daggers for melee and xbow for ranged. For skills, I took steal and poison making. Talents went to stealth and below the belt. On lvl 2, I took Combat training skill and Dual Weapon talent. On lvl 3, I took Deft hands talent. That got me to Ostagar. Once there I invested money into making Acid Flask bombs and poison making skill. The Gazarath fight was Acid Flask Bomb kiting affair. I also got very fortunate in my drops as I picked up at least 3 Acid Flask Bombs, not that I needed them but it did give me a lot less nervous. I also bought all of the health pots (lesser and normal) from the quartermaster. I turned in all quests prior to the fight including the Chasind Trail one. That got to me to lvl 5.

I didn't do any of the math or damage parsing but I got the feeling that the xbow ended fights much quicker than a bow did. Again that's just a feeling.

I'm currently on the 2nd floor of the Tower and looking forward to the Ogre fight.

I'm gonna try to do both Dwarf origins eventually. I'd appreciate any help and advice. Hope this helps.

I think that solo-ing is very much luck oriented. I tried a human rogue origin again and this time got all the way to Ostagar. I didn't get to Lvl 3 until getting to Ostagar.

I pumped all stats into Dex and starting off w/ Steal skill, Stealth and Unlock talents. Upon reaching lvl 2, I picked up trap skill and double sweep. What kept me alive wasn't skill, though, it was luck. Upon entering a fight w/ multiple enemies, they'd go after my dog and mother before attacking my main which was the only one attacking.

Steal skill in this origin didn't really net me any extra health pots that I could recall. I got maybe 1. I also only picked up enough trap materials for 1 trap.

Once I got to Ostagar, I noticed that I was about 3-4 xp bars behind male Dalish elf origin. The battle w/ Gazarath was easier but again that was mainly due to the fact that Gaz attacked all the non-attacking, non-moving, non-skill using party members while I rained arrows on him. Only when they were dead did Gaz come after me and I kited him through shrapnel traps I prepared before hand.
