But everything else about him is meh

Even his scene in the Gauntlet? Or where he remarks that you're the closest thing he's had to family in a long time?

All I got to say is that Oghren and the other Gray Wardens have a date with the Deep Roads and I want to celebrate their upcoming demise.

Give me Oghren, Sigrun, Varric and Sandal for the party mage, Bioware! Other races not needed.

I would play that.

No offense but I really don't want to see Oghren again, unless it's in a very small capacity. After all he has been in two games already.

If they bring Oghren back, he better be back to his sensible Origins self than "I'M A WALKING JOKE" Awakening.

I never really saw much of a difference between Oghren in Origins and Oghren in Awakening. They seemed the same. In Origins, Oghren would always make a jock or some sort of sexual euphemism. But beneath all that, he bore a great deal of shame and regret over failing his wife, his House, and his Dwarven honor. And through the Warden's assistance, he can get over that and find a woman to start a new life with.

In Awakening, he's the same crude, vulgar, and crass Dwarf he was in Origins. This time, although he's found a woman to be with his issues stem from being unable to deny his inner warrior and struggling to be a decent father to his child and a loving husband to Felsi.

In the end, he really didn't change. He evolved, whilst still retaining his sense of humor. At least, that's how I saw it.

Ah right right. I had forgotten about that. His reaction to being in the Fade was pretty funny, but the scene of him being mocked made me like him even more, for having put up with that in Orzammar.

Yes please bring the fan favorite back Bioware even if for a cameo!

"But bringing characters back is unrealistic considering where news games will be located."

Well Bioware brought Anders, Isabella, Alistair, Ban Teagan, Zevran, Leliana and Sophia Dryden back for DA2 (depending on your choices in some cases) so bringing Oghren in Orlais (or wherever the hell DA3 is set) wouldn't be entirely wrong considering all those previous characters turning up in Kirkwall in DA2. That seemed more unrealistic to me considering each DA game is supposed to be about different protagonists, lands, stories and characters but instead we have The Warden's sloppy left-overs (in quests too) appearing in DA2. Having one character turn up from before would have felt more realistic.

So if they did it before they can do it again and this time for Oghren the fan favorite.

Except that in Awakening, he inexplicably leaves his wife and daughter to be a Grey Warden, knowing that he could die during the ritual, knowing that the Blight is over and Grey Wardens are not desperately needed.  His family needed him, but instead, he ran away and became a nonsensical, pathetic, rambling drunk with no sense of purpose after completing the Joining.  He is a coward and a creep in Awakening, and there is no evolution, unless you consider regression an improvement.  There is nothing redeeming or worthy about his character at all after becoming a Grey Warden.

I really don't want to see him again if it's just to see him being a belligerent, crude alcoholic who shows no interest in the family he abandoned, while he cracks inappropriate jokes.
