Everybody please bear with me here for a moment. Imagine if the Klingon arrested Isabela, and Varric, then dumped them on the surface of Rura Penthe. Rura Penthe is a very cold place(understatement) meaning that Isabela, and Varric are in big trouble. Luckily for Varric he has a coat, disco shirt, pants, thermals, gloves, and lots of chest hair to keep him alive for an hour.(long enough to be saved by the USS Enterprise)

Sadly Isabela only has a tunic, over the knee boots, metal gauntlets, and a bandana to protect her from Rura Penthe's below zero temperature. The logical conclusion is that Isabela will die instantly(Hierophysics) of a combination of hypothermia, and chapped lips.

What if she huddles with Varric for warmth? Or makes a coat of his chest hair? Or cuts him open and takes shelter in his innards?

Ewwww innards option. Varric does have chest hair enough for both of them.

Like Iman, she'd charm another prisoner out of their coat.  Or kick his ass and take it, like Shatner.

That's right.  Isabela could be like either of them, she's that awesome.

I thought in DA3 we can equip followers like in DAO, so why would this issue even matter? BTW, I do hope arcane warrior come back so that I can have armored mages.

Not quite. Each follower has an individual design. If you equip them with leather armor, it won't look like it would on the PC or a different follower.

there are still going to be much more customization options for companions. The equipments' look may be characterized accordingly for each individual in the party but there definitely will be big differences between leather armors and chain mails.

As a general rule I despise the what fits the character excuse. Because I'm sorry being such a tool that you want to look sexy over living through the day probably does not fit the character.

OTOH in a fantasy setting I think you have a bit more leeway with rogues and other fencer style fighters. The goal is not to model reality, but more of an fantasy action movie reality. And in fantasy action movie land a fencer is so awesome at parrying blows when unarmored they are better off that way. Our suspension of belief is not shattered by Isabella dodging blows or parrying attacks reflected by HP. While some kind of light armor that does not impede movement would be more practical, the lack of it is not too jarring since this is fantasy action movie and not historical battle recreation. We can say well if it helps avoid attacks just a smidgen it is worth skipping the armor

ME2 sorry it did not fit the world, setting, characters, or action movie style they were presenting.

The Witcher 2 is absolutely not sexist.

lolwhat?

Did you not notice that two of the main women characters are magically unconscious/turned into a statue, and in need of rescuing for the majority of the story?

The the women who show any power are always punished? Their eyes are gouged out, they're burned at the stake, or they become damsels in distress who can't handle the mental trauma of seeing people die.

This is absolute insanity. Sorceresses are by far the most powerful faction in the game. A woman was the leader of the revolution for equality in Vergen. TW2 has put more women in power than any Bioware game.

Oh, what's that? A plot point revolved around a woman in *gasp* TROUBLE? Sexist! Sexist i say!

Some people here have to learn the difference between a setting that contains sexism, and a sexist game. There is a significant difference between the two.

Fantastic. This is the DA3 forum, not the Witcher 2 forum. Drop this argument or at least apply it to the current discussion a little more.

I didnt like how Isabela was portrayed. It was cheesy imo. From the looks to behaviour.

I have a feeling that every now and then BW is making game for 'mature audiences' (with M for mature slaped on the cover) under the age of 18.
Bioware should try harder to create belivable npcs and their romances, and drop that lowest common denominator like population sampling and fishing for ideas in .xcl tables and graphs. It lays flat every game based on a 'win formula'.
Isabela pales in Aveligne plot comparison, or Samara-Shepard relationship for that matter.

Just make companions that do not feel like... just 'toy'' for my character.
Which mean make my character/avatar feel like a normal being. Someome that do make thing/saving happens but, could be things/saved if the place were changed with my companions. Companions that do not drool with admiration when the hero talk. I don`t want to be a celebrity in my own group Enough with daydreaming teenage fantaisies.

I think the day it happens. Video game migh evolve and taken more seriously.

Aveline.. great exemple. Alyx Vance.... Sam Carter in SG-1 :P.

If Isabella wants to wear clothes like that on a night out, then go her. Don't care what she wears out of combat.

In combat, I want to see every character wear some armour.

I really don't think we need hypersexualized or undersexualized female characters. Why do these aspects have to become major character points, why can't you just make a bunch of well rounded characters then flip coins and decide whether they're female or male. This whole 'she's a **** but it's super feminist' garbage, to a female gamer...or at least to me, feels like an excuse to dress her in minimal clothing and have her act like a ****. I liked Isabella but let's call a spade a spade here she wasn't made to change the way gamers look at scantily clad characters she was there for the male gaze.

And to touch on the DA/Witcher 2 thing, look at the side plot story for Leliana, I had to go and kill the assassins who were hunting her down or at least confront them. She was in danger and needed my help. Morrigan, her mother is eventually going to kill her so off I go to save the day for her. Isabella needed saving after she made a complete mess of things oh and Merrill needed saving from herself. Female characters who weren't in danger and needing my help: Wynne (because she's amazing) and Aveline and WHY because they're non-romanceable. Oh and my sister....I think it's been a while since I looked at DA2.

As a female gamer, all I want is an awesome bad ass, ass kicking female character who can do this without selling her body and without being so unbelievably moody and unfeeling that it's impossible to relate to her. I feel like this is having my cake and asking to eat it too but come on I'm really not asking for much. Sex appeal shouldn't be judged by how much skin is clothing or how frequently a character makes sexualized comments at the Player character.

Did you notice the majority of the story revolves around trying to track down a threat to men in position of power and/or to protect those men, and that quite a few of those (and other) men end up murdered?

TW is very much equal opportunity when it comes to brutal treatment of its subjects. Ironically though, that brutality comes largely ignored when not aimed at women because hey, that's "normal".

Apropos of nothing why is it that most of the people who claim Dragon Age is not mature are frequently the same people who describe say, Oghren, as a stereotypical drunken dwarf?

It's almost as if you need to have a certain level of maturity to notice the maturity. Nah, that couldn't be it.  Has to be the level of boobs and/or violence that matters.
