Origins is worth a playthrough on its own merits. Dragon Age 2 not so much.

I think I saw them on sale the other day for $10 for everything.
I can't really answer if it'd be worth it to you though. I felt like the money I spent on DA games was well worth it to me.

Well DAO you should because it is a great game. I liked DA2 but it was rushed and it shows but it is an alright game and they are very cheap so yeah I would if I were you

One game took most of a decade to make once it finally escaped development hell, and the other game was rushed out to shelves in less than a year.
Despite this, I recommend both. Check gameplay videos on Youtube to be sure they're broadly the kind of game you enjoy, assuming you come from Mass Effect fandom and not other RPGs in general.

I play on PC and think DAO is better on the Computer. While I believe DA2 can be played on either console or PC.
To me these are the best games out there especially DAO if you like cRPG's. But it's all a matter of taste, isn't it?

DA:O is a super game with a ton of content. You can get the game and all of the dlc content for a good price.

They are both good games and worth playing. Having played DA:O on both PC and PS3, I can say I enjoyed the PC experience FAR more. I only played DA2 on PC, and while it isn't as good as Origins, it is a good game in its own right. If you enjoy the games, I would suggest reading the 3 novels as well. The first book "The Stolen Throne" is by far my favorite, and the other 2 are pretty good as well. As a note, the word "Ichor" is used FAR too many times in the 2nd novel

This. I can't answer if you will like the games or not, if you are getting DAO you should really get the PC version though. DA2 either PC or console works.

Do you like team focused tactical RPGs?
If so. Yes. Pick them up. It can't hurt DA3 for you to know the world, characters, and history. Plus it's likely that there'll be an import option in DA3 which means having a few saves will would rewarded in-game.

You can get DAO Ultimate Edition (All DLC Included) for like £12 for PC.

Buy DA2 first, that way it'll feel like the series improved when you play DAO! Unless, you prefer games like DA2 then...

They're both worth it. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, they're just bitter.
Even if DA 2 may have been lacking in some aspects, it's still way better than most other RPGs on the market. Go forth and play, my minion.

Origins is a must, a truly fantastic game. Unfortunately Dragon Age II couldn't live up to it, imo, but it isn't a bad game neither. So if you like rpg's, I'll highly recommend Origins. Dragon Age II made some major changes to gameplay and art direction. Here I would recommend to watch some gameplay vids and judge for yourself.

Origins is a very fine game.
DA2 is mediocre at best.
My personal opinion: Buy the DAO Ultimate Edition and forget DA2.
