I'm completely honest here, I find Liara extremely boring.

Why does everyone like her so much?

Yes, easily. I don't find her special at all.

Samara could have already replaced Liara in ME3. Less whining and stalking on the Normandy.

I wouldn't mind if ME4 had no asari squadmate, personally.

I found samara hypocritical and inflexible. She also had the annoying habit of attempting to tell me what to do.

No I don't need asari mom on my ship

If you found Samara annoying you should play the first KotOR and take Bastila with you on missions. "It's so hard to follow the Light Side, I have to constantly tell you about my own doubts to stay on the Light Side", yeah whatever Bastila, I already got the Light Side bar filled out and I didn't even try to.
And she's the only female LI in that game.

To me, no. No asari would ever truly replace Liara. But I wouldn't want to see her back in a future ME either. Keep her and all other previous squadmembers out of it. Bringing squaddies back will only lead to disappointment.

Every person is different and likes different things. Sometimes a person's thoughts are so far from your own, you cannot even understand that person. Personally I cannot fathom how people can be positive about the ME3 ending, I just don't understand.

Guess there's nothing to do but to just let it go...

This post is about as subjective as it gets. If you dislike or are indifferent to a character, of course they'll be easy to replace. If you're more attached, then the inverse is true. A thread like this is pointless other than to garner who likes which character.

100% agree.

Of course another Asari can replace Liara. I'd say Liara is one of the more easily replaceable squaddies, you could never replace Garrus.

Solution replace Liara with a clone of Garrus

Could I have another Asari on my ship in a Mass Effect game? Sure, but it definitely would not be the same.

My thoughts exactly... *sigh*  Liara... :(

You could easily have another member of that race but of course it wouldn't be the same character. I mean, we have multiple humans and each of them has a distinctive character (and yes, I'm including jacob and kaidan).

Same thing with Wrex and Grunt...both are krogans but both have different personalities (a strength of the ME franchise).

I mean, how many of us wished we could've persuaded Tela Vasir to join our cause?

Grunt might of been a krogan but he wasn't wrex. There was no real bonds of friendship formed with grunt, he was more or less a professional killer on demand.

Well, yes. I understand that.

But that's a strength of the ME series. Can you have another asari on board as either a squaddie or crewmember?

Of course you can.

Would said asari have the same personality as Liara? No, otherwise you might as well have Liara to begin with...

Liara is unique, no way. Err... well, maybe Ereba could.

Replace? No. Be a different character to fill a different but equal niche within the story? Yes.

I agree with others that Liara can't be replaced. While I welcome a new Asari squadmate in the new game, she won't replace Liara in my mind.

Why would the one you're comparing Liara to even be an asari? Why would a new asari have to "live up" to Liara at all? Different characters are different characters, 's all there is to it.

I'll miss her, but hopefully I'll find new squaddies I care for as much or perhaps even more =)

Asari are pretty dull in general. Might be cool to play as one if Bioware ever made a Mass Effect: Origins, where you can choose your own race.

Honestly though, Liara's not even my favourite Asari. I genuinely like Matriarch Aethyta, Aria T'Loak, Samara, Shiala, Tela Vasir and even Captain Enyala better than her.

Not that I mean to criticize anyone who likes Liara, she's a good character, this thread just seems to imply that the other characters are somehow more replaceable than her, and I just don't see it that way.

Also, Mass Effect reboot? When did that happen?

Garrus is the only squad member I would go out of my way to see in future games. EDIT: nah, just bring the whole damn squad in. I could never play favorites <3

I think a more pressing question is why do you feel the need to bold the word "Liara" and use ellipses either before or after mentioning her. Seriously you do it every time you mention her in this thread. It's creepy.

In my opinion, I couldn't imagine another Asari the equivalent to Liara. Been through too much.
