Can a new Asari ever replace...Liara?

I can't help but think of the line she says in Mass Effect 1: "Among the Asari I am barely considered more than a child".
So basically, if you go for Liara, you're a paedophile and should feel bad.

"Little more than a child" in the same sense that most older humans would not consider a 20 year old mature.
It's also more to do with her chosen field of study, for example - you would place more credence in a 50 year old scientist than a 20 year old scientist.
The 20 year old would be physically mature, but you'd still look down on them due to their age.

English comprehension is not your strong point I see.
That statement doesn't mean that she is a child. It means she's barely considered an adult. Liara was saying that by Asari standards she is a very young adult.
Liara was 106 at the start of Mass Effect 1. We know that Asari reach adulthood sometime between 40 and 60 years old, because we are told that Morinth left home while in her 40s, and we can overhear two random Asari NPCs that also make statements about being 60 years old and finally on their own.
But even if a player missed those clues on when Asari reach adulthood, and failed to comprehend what Liara actually said, a little common sense would have told the player that Liara was not a child. Besides the fact that Bioware thankfully isn't going to create a romanceable character that is considered a minor, Liara has a college degree and has been working as an archaeologist for fifty years. How many children do you know who are college graduates that are working as scientists?
Since we are told that Liara worked as an archaelogist for fifty years prior to ME1, that also puts her at 56 years old when she started her career. That happens to fall within that 40 to 60 year old age range for when Asari reach adulthood.

I realize that with the announcement of the mass effect reboot there will most likely be a new protagonist along with a new crew and new LI. This new crew is likely to include a asari as they are one of the most well traveled species in the mass effect universe. My fear is not what this new mass effect game might entail story wise, I'm ready for anything, but about a new Asari crewmember/li in particular. Will this...can this new Asari live up to...Liara? How do you dupicate the beauty, charm and intellect of...Liara?
Could I ever grow to care for this Asari on the same level as...Liara? Could I romance and hold this Asari without thoughts and want of liara dancing in the back of my mind? Could she ever purge and replace...Liara from my thoughts? I'm holding on to hope that since...Liara is only a century old and can live for up to a thousand years that she'll somehow find her way back to me but am I hoping for too much? When I think of that blue eyed freckled blue berry, I...I just don't know about this new mass effect anymore...
Bioware has many wonder workers in the literary department but my faith is on thin ice when it comes to this particular subject.
Oh Liara....<3:crying:
I know how you feel.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way about ...Liara. It truly is comforting to see so many like minded individuals in this thread.

A liara thread you say? Point me to this fine spider silk.

the answer is yes ...
... but the replacements will ever and only be replacements and every decision we let them make, will be under the shadow of the original cast.
replacing legends never turned out to be good.

It's been here as long as you have, I'm surprised you didn't know about it before.

I'd be more concerned about Wrex, who will always be irreplaceable tbh.

ME4?!?
edit: in sci fi, the hero never ever dies off, just reinvents themselves.

I would submit that it's the culminating romance scene in the cabin, with the forehead touch.Random Jerkface wrote...

Of course another Asari can replace Liara. I'd say Liara is one of the more easily replaceable squaddies, you could never replace Garrus.
The flirting? Banal. The Bromance? Arugably sycophantic. The intimacy without uttering the word 'love', a moment coming from desperation, trust, and a glimmer of hope?
There aren't many romance scenes in ME2 I liked, but that moment was one of them.
Pitty it didn't stay as a singificant one night stand.

She's definately pedo bait, especially when you consider she's so socially retarded as to not even grasp something as emotionally basic as humor.
Still, she isn't quite as bad as Merrill....
