You say Tomato, I say Tomato.
Or something....
She's not as well-spoken as YOU, of course, with your inside jokes and bestie devs.

One thing that always seems like it's a bit awkward with returning companions is that it's difficult to talk sensibly about what actually happened in the previous games without not only violating head canon, but honest to goodness stuff that actually happened in game.
I mean, that time they saved the world, killed a few dragons, recovered the Urn of Sacred Ashes etc seems like it would come up.

But does this mean that there wont be a Leliana or Alistair romance unless we are the Warden again?
No Anders or Isabela romance unless we are Hawke again?

Got a thing against guys who's names start with A, eh?

I think that we writers would be reluctant to have a character be romanceable in more than one game for one simple fact: revisiting a romance plot would seem incredibly stale, unless the character had transformed into someone else completely. We've already done that story.

I tried imagining the Dragon Age writers writing a romanceable character as "someone who doesn't have baggage" and laughed for a minute straight. :innocent:

Perhaps he should have gone with 'Entirely new baggage.'
But I agree. I never want to see old romances romancable again in that capacity. Surely they have better things to do than search the world for the next big 'hero' to shag. I'd like to think they have more self respect than that.
Stick with new romances, or romancing old companions who were never ever romancable. Like Shayle, who's probably a hot sexy dwarf again.

And then we'd also get into a situation where a player is angry because they're betraying their old PC, and violating headcanon-- which, quite frankly, would give us all of two seconds hesitation if it weren't for the other point. Why tweak the people who would be all weird about it, when it's not something that would particularly excite us in the first place?
I'm really happy to hear this.

Of course, my Hawkes would have probably been just as happy with Donnic. They were never to have normal, healthy relationships, I guess.
