Should past Love interest be locked out in Da3 for saves with ultimate sacrifice wardens?

Considering how much time has passed between Origins and Inquisition, some of the characters arguably have changed a lot if only by time alone. Dragon Age II was only ten years later, III could be fifteen, or twenty, or longer. We don't know yet, only Mr Gaider knows that.

That makes two statements the way I see it.

1. A revisited romance could give us a closer look into the events that shaped their lives since Origins. Leliana has been involved in some of the biggest events on the continent since Origins. And Morrigan has gone out further than any living person in Thedas. When we see her again, she might be completely different

2. After so many years, the Origins LIs might be too old for conventional romance(Leliana, Zeran, and Morrigan were probably in her mid to late twenties in Origins, by DAIII's time, they could be pushing fifty.) Unless you're like Jiro Toshiwa from Mass Effect: Ascension, that ain't going to fly. I think DA's writers like to keep romances within a relative age range.

God I hope we're back on topic now. If so, then... well... I've already said my piece. If the Warden's dead and an old LI returns, then they should have a tough time moving on if they were romanced.

If the Warden's alive, then they shouldn't be romanceable.

But I'd just as soon rather have new LIs as opposed to old ones.

Someone who isn't Emzam, who will just confuse things further, explain what is even going on here.

I don't think it can be explained, aside from a poster not having a clue of what he/she is talking about.

Would creating a group called "Posters Confused by Emzamination" where we work together to figure out what the hell she's talking about in any given thread be against the site rules?

I'd join that group.

Sorry word of gaider doesn't hold the same weight as written text in a dispute between fourmites as you can go either way.

You may not believe someone when they come and tell you I've said something previously, that's fine.

When *I* come and tell you I've said something previously and that your bullying of your fellow posters is based on false assumptions, treating me like I'm some poster who doesn't know what he's talking about is sheer arrogance.

You are on your last leg here. Choose your next words carefully.

I stand by my previous statements, Gaider. If you're going to ban me then do it, I'm not some bootlicking fanboy intimidated by you.

You don't have join with a Fade spirit to become someone else over time, though. Things change, people change.

Sure.

Or we could write a brand new romance story for someone different, someone who doesn't have baggage.

I'm not saying we'd never do it-- violating headcanon en masse would be rather fun-- but I can think of better ways to spend my time writing than figuring out how to reinvent a romance.

I was actually sort of interested in Dragon Age 3, but reading quotes like this makes me think I'd be better off spending my $60 on a game developed by people who don't think it's funny to screw with me...

All stories are meant to screw with you. Some do it by gentle caressing, and others give a good hard mind ****.

If you don't like having expectations subverted in unexpected ways, though... why are you bothering with new fiction at all?

All the strong, capable, emotionally healthy women are taken. Isn't that always the way?

Of course, my Hawkes would have probably been just as happy with Donnic. They were never to have normal, healthy relationships, I guess.

I dunno. My 'date' with Donnic was possibly the most awkward thing I've ever experienced in a video game. Of course that was one of my favorite moments.

well.

none of my wardens did ultimate sacrifice (after the first one, my elven-mage-warden, was "tricked" into it, by being told he was not going to die (he was still pissed of, that his live-expectancy got reduced by the taint and he was forced to join the wardens, when he wanted to be a free mage, without ties to anyone))...so they do not have the problem...on the other hand, all of them "left" their LI behind at the end of DA:O (no LI was in Awakenings- at least only as a cameo...and after that they got left behind (cassandra says that in DA2, that the warden vanished!)) and after that, the wardens (no matter what warden you played) vanished!

so, their LI(s) are alone and have been for some time (10+ years) so why not "offer" them up for romance again (even if the warden was the best, i am sure they are over him/her...at least they should be)...even more so as:

everyone of my wardens would not like their LI being all alone because they still pine over him/her and I am sure that dead wardens would not want their LI alone, would they? - if so:

heartless bastards I say!

greetings LAX

No way!! I mean... Hawke and Mahariel kind of already shared a "romance" with Isabella, and Zevran for that matter! lol

I think it could be awesome!

Romancing Leliana again? Perhaps comforting her over the loss of a certain Warden? Hmmm .. Salacious!!

Any previous LIs who come back and are in a romance with the Warden or Hawke should be locked out. Any previous LIs who come back and are not in a romance should be fair game.

I dont want the DA3 hero to be all "Hey Morrigan, forget that Warden and come over here!" and Morrigan to say "Ok. And by the way, I'm bisexual now."

Keep calm and play Dragon Age.
Pro-Tip: Don't live it, you'll just get hurt. xD

Back on thread, as long as the writing is good and full of shocking stuff, I can handle everything I guess.

I don't want to romance the same characters. As much as I love Fenris & Alistair, they are with their (my) respective PCs.

If you chose the Ultimate Sacrifice ending and you're unhappy with the results then replay your ending, that's all I can say. I don't even understand what you're upset over, since you seem to be arguing for Leliana being blocked FROM YOURSELF. If DA:I Leliana was in love with an NPC regardless of your involvement, okay, fine, but you're talking within the context of a player-initiated romance. Unless you're schizophrenic, can't you make the decision not to pursue a romance if you find it distasteful that she can move on?

I'm not going to lie and say I didn't get irrationally irritated in the ONE playthrough I didn't romance Fenris & he has that sex conversation with Isabela, but these people have lives outside of my character - in the end it was MY choice to make.

Uhm no, I have seen stories that don't try to screw with you. I agree with Krukow about that if devs think its fun to screw with their fans I don't really think its worth spending time and money on. Since trolling fans will always come back to bite you in the ass, but I'm sure Bioware has learned that now from ME 3.
