That may no longer be an option.David has inadvertently solidified isabela's return. - Link

And that does not in any way confirm she'll be a companion. She might just come and say "I hate pants and my real name is [insert name]" and never be seen for the whole game.

Isabela is not the type of character to give private information such as her name to anyone she's not extremely close with.It took her nearly 10 years just to admit she liked hawke.

It wouldn't bother me if they were available for romance.

But there's no point in doing so unless there was a different take on the romance than there was in the previous game.

If I get DA3 I am hoping to have all new LI and any cameos by returning characters who were past LI will not be LI in the new game

That may not necessarily mean she will return. He could have been referring to that revelation being in the comics. Or maybe a codex entry in a future game. Information doesn't constitute a cameo, unfortunately.

Of course, but couple that with the fact that she can not die by any means in Da2.

By that logic, I guess Aveline, Varric and Sebastian are guaranteed to return. My point is that there are no guarantees, nothing has been "solidified." How the story seems to be staged thus far does not mean it will take the predicted path.

Aveline and Sebastian weren't at the same level of importance as Isabella and Varric.I can't believe the writers would go out of their way to make you pander to isabela just to keep her if they didn't have every intention of bringing her back. The tide seems to be flowing strongly a certain way.

You don't think the Divine's (left/right) hand or Flemeth's daughter will be right there in the trenches fighting with the protagonist that's supposed to save the world?

Define "trenches." Arl Eamon was in "the trenches," was he an LI?

Arl eamon was on the side lines throwing mean looks in the bannorn. He wasn't in the thick of battle cutting down darkspawn or loghain soldiers.

What is it that you see as "level of importance?" Do you define that as being a catalyst for events?

So too, the writers didn't make players "pander" to Isabela. You don't even have to recruit her to finish the game. She is a pivotal figure, yes, but one that you don't even have to engage if you don't care to.

Nope, it'll require a [Persuade] or [Intimidate] option, like with everything other person who doesn't trust us. And who say's she will tell us? Someone who might have known her might spill the bean. I think you're making a lot of assumption from just one sentence.

Isabela is deeply intertwined with the qunari who will undoubtedly be back.Varric...while varric was important because he was a narrator...I can't see him as important enough to bring back.

It's irrelevant whether you can finish the game with her or not.The point is that unless you meet a certain quota on the F/R bar by a certain point she leaves for good so she remains unkillable and even if you give her to the qunari, she shouts her imminent return.

Well I have only 1 playthrough of it and haven't played it since it came out. And this isn't my main profile anyway.

You're making a lot of assumptions here. Just because her story is intertwined with the Qunari and what happened in Kirkwall doesn't mean that she will reappear if and when they do. They existed, and battled with much of Thedas, before she was introduced.

It seems fitting that if you don't chat with her or handle her quests, and thus raise the proper level in friendship or rivalry, that she will leave the party. The PC hasn't given her a reason to stay at that point. And if you hand her over to the Qunari, it also fits her character that she would escape. But her escape, and being apparently "unkillable" doesn't mean she'll come back. It may not be for the purpose of some return to Thedas proper.

I would love to see her character in another game, bearing the same swagger and quick retort, but there's no way I can look at anything that has been said, or how the game was staged, and consider it a done deal.

lol. The most important fight in the entirety of the game, yes. I should have thought it was painfully obvious that there are plenty of roles for plot important characters that don't necessarily include being so close to the PC that they'll want to scrog, but apparently you just want to nitpick your way away from that fact.

Chicka what? He fights in the Battle of Denerim, the battle to stop the blight before it destoryes Ferelden and personally helped slay the archdemon in the thick of battle cutting down darkspawn. That's not one small, insignificant fight so no, he wasn't on the side lines at all like you first asserted.

You're forgetting that if you let them take her she steals the book and escapes again therefore initiating another woman hunt.

Sorry kikyou but if the devs were being fluid with isbela's fate, they would've let you kill her like they did with anders who had an even bigger role. There is a reason they made her unkillable and it wasn't just to cater to role playing. The facts and evidence are with me.

You haven't played from enough viewpoints especially if isabela was unromanced in that playthrough. You are arguing on very low ground.

But the point of this thread was if previous LI should be available to new PC. Not about how much I understand Isabella. Plus your topic title talks about Dead Warden so how I don't know how we got Isabella involved.

He appeared at the top of fort draken killing darkspawn aided by an army while the warden took out the archdemon. That is not fighting in the trenches and in the thick of battle. The warden fought thousands of darkspawn/dragons ect all across ferelden with only his/her few companions.

We could learn her name through future comics via a dialogue with Varic or something. I don't see how that Q/A confirms she is coming back via video game.

Isabela is a previous LI as she can be romanced by hawke in Da2
