for the breath scene? Do u think that with the right dlc will unlock the 5000 ems ending? (anything is possible with EA at the helm) seems uncessary to reduce the ems required unless that is what fans wanted.

Because they listened to the fans. You don't have to play multiplayer to get the sequence where Shepard survives.

Probably because most fans want Shepard to live, but not that many of them got that ending, so they wanted to make it easier for fans to get a happier ending, without having to play Multiplayer, make particular choices, or buy added content.

To make MP 100% optional, I am grateful for that. You needed at least 4000 EMS for the breath scene before EC, that means 8000 TMS without MP. I do not know if this is possible without DLC at all, but I only got less than 7500 in my "perfect" playthrough.

From what I remember, it wasn't possible originally to get the breath scene without multiplayer, hence the reason it was changed.

Because you couldnt get the "best" possible ending without Multiplayer, something bw refused to admit for a long time.

Its a bad attempt to reduce the backslash.

Another possibility is that the puzzle theory is truth (if you want another ending, I'll make it but it will cost u 50 bucks) and this is in order to make this possible.

because they half-listened.

They figured if tehy just lowered the requirement from the breath scene, they could get away without actually clarifying anything about it.

So we wouldn't have to play multiplayer to get the best endings.

Who's trolling?  This is my stated opinion.

If they'd truly listened, they'd have elaborated on the breath scene further.  You know, add "clarity and closure"

Have you tried using a pen and paper to do what they asked you to do? You have clarity, they asked you to make your own closure.

Try it, it'll help.

If you truly wish to believe that Shepard died in high-EMS destroy, then that's your, in my opinion very cynical, prerogative.

A (tasteful) expansion on the scene would have been nice, sure. But the allusion is sledgehammer-subtle. I find it very difficult to come to any conclusion other than Shepard lived.

Part of that was because Bioware thought the "best" ending was Synthesis, which could be accomplished without MP. Unfortunately for them, the fans believed the "best" ending was the breath scene, which wasn't possible without MP.

Because someone realised that Bioware's earlier promise about MP being optional turned out, unsurprisingly, to be yet another lie.

Part of that was because Bioware thought the "best" ending was Synthesis, which could be accomplished without MP. Unfortunately for them, the fans believed the "best" ending was the breath scene, which wasn't possible without MP.

The breath scene had the highest EMS requirement. Assuming that you can get the highest EMS requirement without playing MP is the only sensible way to interpret the statement about MP being optional.

Because no one wants to grind through multiplayer for the sake of seeing their Shepard breath.

Also, what Alex said.

This is more or less the answer.  I think they thought the "breath scene" was more an easter egg than actual ending, so they said you could get the "best" ending (in their minds synthesis) without multiplayer.  When the backlash against synthesis and the endings in general came, and the breath scene was discovered to only be accessible with multiplayer, they had to find a way to fix that.

The Breath Scene still requires the most EMS, 3100.

Synthesis needs only 2800.

EMS sucks, you shouldn't think about it.
