Here's hoping we get rapiers and thrusting animations.
And also just one handed weapons, without shields - variety is good - player choice is good. No more magical shields or daggers that just pop up out of no where...

It looks cool, especially in more action-oriented games, but it wouldn't actually be that useful, unless an arcane warrior can channel spells through his free hand.
I love your suggestion. That reminds me of Skyrim and Bioshock.
Plasmids in one hand, wrench in the other hand.
Or spell effects in one hand and melee weapon in the other hand.

(well, the second duelist I think of, not the one with spiky hair)

I don't see why they shouldn't have this. I think it would have been more common in ancient times to see someone using one single handed weapon rather than dual wielding.
Normally, it was a two-handed sword or a sword and shield.

Would you like to see the above style of combat in Dragon Age 3?

No decapitations, then?

The trouble with real life fencing, is that it's too polite and friendly. Certainly no decapatitions. Also if they are going to thrust, the need to cut a little deeper. Slices have to be slices. Hacking needs to be proper hacking. Otherwise, fencing is a fantastic addition.
Inquisitor: Touche.
Darkspawn King: Damn it. That's the second touche. Please can I have a rematch?
Inquisitor: Absolutely.
[inquisitor has a slight error in technique and lunges forward to much, allowing the Darkspawn king to make the next point]
Inquisitor: Shall we make it best of three?
Darkspawn King: Sure thing.
[30 seconds later]
Darkspawn King: Looks like you win this time. Tommorow we have another session. Same time.
Inquisitor: Indeed.
Darksapwan King: It was a most delightful match we had today. It seems like you put an end to my winning streak. Tommorow I shall prepare to engage in another exuisite battle.
Inquisitor: I shall look forward to it.

Exactly! This is the kind of thing I'd like to see. The sword isn't quite so giant, it looks good, and it seems pretty practical to me.

That is pretty cool.
Aragon rocked that 2 hand sword.
Wouldn't it be great if you could have a rogue rock a 2 hand sword?

Fencing is a sport full stop, it's not restricted to the physically disabled.I know that fencing is a paralympic sport.
Single Weapon Style would be nice to see again - Whether it's for Warriors or Rogues I don't really care. Longswords have often be used with a two handed technique, Rapiers were often used with a one handed technique. It's a style that would suit either of the Melee classes in Dragon Age Origins.
Perhaps more defensive for Rogues, centering around parries, thrusts and counter attacks. More aggressive for warriors - lacking the full strength of two handed weaponry - granting faster, yet slightly weaker, offensive assaults.
Though a one handed style would be unlikely for Warriors, they'd use a two handed grip.

Remember how the rogues could use longswords, and axes in DAO? I seriously miss that along with the dual wielding warrior.Abraham_uk wrote...

@Fiacre - Demon's, and Dark Souls are the only RPGs i can remember that allows you to use a two hand style for a longsword.
