So the main question I have is will the game look better than it did on the 360?  I have played through ME1 at least 9 times over the years and after seeing the grapichal evolution over the course of the series I was blown away at how aged the game looked on the play through I just finished.  I just bought a ps3 a few months ago and I can honestly say everything looks better on it.  This leads to my next question, will the game function like an emulator or will they have to build it up in assembly code and will either one of these processes result in more polished graphics?  I will buy it either way but it would be great to see this game get the full HD treatment many older classics have gotten on the PS3.  Anyone understand the process well enough to explain it?

Which is cheaper? :P Actually I don't mind the look of ME1 all that much on my PC once the film grain is turned off. Would be pretty cool for the PS3 mob to get something better looking to make up for the five year wait but if they were going to redo almost from scratch just for PS3 wouldn't you hope to have mines with non identical walls and more variety of buildings to check out and spaceships to board instead of spending all the effort making the looks of the graphics more like ME2/3?

Guess it will be running on the same engine with some me2 PS3 upgrades. Saw an article at examiner .com that said they were using Edge Of Reality to dev the PS3 version. Bummer. Hopefully the upgrades will this truly great game look as good as it deserves to.

I did some research it looks like Edge of Reality (the studio behind the console port of Dragon Age: Origins) is behind the PS3 port of ME1. Hoping the port will come out very good and shiny like how ME2 for PS3 came out really good.

Full HD treatment? What are you talking about? The game already has HD resolution so how can it get any kind of HD treatment? People like to throw around HD a lot these days, but I just don't think they know what it means.

I spent a few hours earlier on my Xbox trying to make up a new FemShep for when the PS3 Trilogy comes out, and although I love it to death I really hope Edge of Reality addresses the framerate, and texture loading on the PS3 version of ME1.

in the blog it said they were matching performance of the xbox version. Don't know how well it will turn out considering its a 6 month (if that) port.

Mass Effect 1 on PS3 is just blasphemy, does not belong on it. Mass Effect as a franchise does not belong Playstation in itself.

guys, i think the bigger question is: Has Mass Effect 2 been updated to import ME 1 save files? Because if they didn't update ME 2, then I'm not buying the trilogy whatsoever.

So you would have Mass Effect fans on PS3 miss out on the start of Shepard's story just so ME1 can stay as an exclusive for your favourite console? Alrighty then. That's not unfair in the slightest...

Yes, when the Mass Effect Trilogy edition and the digital download of ME1 are released on PS3, Bioware will release a patch for Mass Effect 2 that lets you import your ME1 save file and all of the decisions and choices that come with it. :)

I expect a faster framerate and less texture pop-in than the Xbox version, but that's just assumption on my part. The reason I say that is for the same reason that ME2 runs more smoothly than ME1.

It'll be better. Not perfect, but things like a faster framerate & polished visuals are what I expect.

BioWare said that? If so, that's good & all but did they?

Yes, I can't find Bioware's original post, but here's a tweet: https://twitter.com/...210438225948672 from one of the developers working on the PS3 version of ME1 that confirms it. :)

Yeah, they also said the PS3 version of ME3 would run the same as it's 360 counterpart. So, I'll believe it when I see it.

Nevertheless, I can't wait to play it :D

Its confirmed for same old ME1 engine but has the improved tweaks and lightning effects from ME2 PS3. Sounds like it will have less texture pop ins and a more stable FPS compared to xbawks. I can't wait!

so what happen if Metal Gear Solid 4 get a 360 port, are you going to buy it but complain about Mass Effect 1 shouldn't be on PS3.  That would be hypocritical of you.
