I'm trying to get into the Alienage section of Denerim for the quest "Unrest in the Alienage"...

Okay, so I have used all of the treaties to recruit all possible allies (have a trophy saying so!)

I've talked to Arl Eamon, Queen what's-her-face, Alistair, etc... I've talked to everybody in the Arl's estate and then some. Spent the last couple of hours searching the internet for answers, spent a while before that running all around the game to do side-quests and see if anything happened and nothing has!

I'm really getting annoyed, so can anybody offer up some advice as to what little detail I am apparently missing? <_<

Your help will be loved beyong belief. :wub:

Have you tried going to the city map and going there?

Yes ><;; I'm thankfully not quite that dull...

It's "grayed out", just won't let me enter it.

How about talking to the guard outside the Alienage gates maybe?

The guard is gone... Has been for quite a long time, should the guard be there?

(Haha, I just looked at my play time... I've sat in Denerim for 4 hours trying to figure this crud out xD!)

Well, I just know before I zone in I talk to the guard there, and he will say that it's open now and I'm free to go in. The area behind where he normally stands isn't a zoneable area for you?

Well, I can go to The Pearl and 2 back alleys. That's it =/ Aside of course from the Arl's estate and marketplace.

I mean in the Marketplace, where the gate is usually closed. You can't enter it from there? Turns mouse into a arrow if you are on PC version.. I suspect consoles don't get a cursor and just have to run into it to transition

Yeah, I'm on ps3 and you just run up to the large gate and it automatically brings up the map of Denerim.

But The Alienage is just gray, makes that funny sound when you click on it that means you can't go there or use that item, etc...

I'm just annoyed because I have a quest saying I need to go in there to look for proof to Lorghaine's bad doings or whatever, but I've read a lot of things saying you have to start the landsmeet before it opens for you. Which it won't let me start the Landsmeet until I have proof of the guy's bad doings ><;;

Hmm, unfortunately all of my characters are either past that part or nowhere close so I can't be very helpful with specifics.

If there's no dialogue with Arl Eamon to start the landsmeet or w/e, then I'm not sure. Maybe bugged then and you'll have to load a earlier save. I can't be sure either way since I can't load up that part of the game myself :( All I remember from memory is going to the tavern, talking to a bunch of nobles, rescuing Anora, choosing a side to support and then going to the Alienage.

I rescued Anora, she screamed that I was kidnapping her, I almost won the fight against that stupid mini-army of guards (Lol drained 40 of my 72 health poultices but I took out all but 2 guards and the main women before I died), escaped from the jail, went back to Arl Eamon, talked to him so much there is no dialogue left, talked to everybody else in his estate to the point of no [relevant] dialogue being left, chose to support Alistair and not queen Anora, and I still can't get in ><;;

And I hope it didn't bug on me... I have no earlier save =/ I always use the same slot and just save over it each time lol ^.^;;

Did you finish the Rescue the Queen quest? The gate to the Alienage should open automatically when that quest is completed.

I started a new character because I was getting to annoyed with it, so I figured I'd spend some time starting him off (My new, 'evil' character -- for the trophies, ya know?)

I would think the quest has been considered finish, do you have to do anything after getting her back to Arl Eamon's estate and talking to her about her 'deal' with supporting her for queen?

From what I remember you rescue Anora, then you go to the estate and talk to the Arl and Anora is there. At the end of that discussion she tells you to come and see her in her room. When you go to her room she talks about supporting her and regardless of what you decide to do she tells you about the Alienage and when you leave the estate the gate should be open. If it's not after doing all that then you are bugged.

Lame... So... I guess this is a game-breaking bug then? I have to scratch the character and start over?

Just one more reason to keep multiple saves. I know I always do. I just never feel comfortable having only one save. You never know when something like this will happen.

Haha, 'Twas my first time playing through and I hated having all the saves, it felt so... Cluttered ><;;

(I'm part clean-freak/perfectionist, though only on things that don't matter and are better left alone lol)

I always have a ton of hard saves, mainly because thats the only way to update your characters on this site, lol

Haha... I'll keep that in mind from now on.

Alright, thanks for your help everybody ^.^ I'll just delete that character and start anew...

Already started anew I guess to be honest, though it will suck starting anew again after this just to finish off the 'nice-guy' trophies of the game lol!

Oh well, 'Twon't be so bad, I'm a nice-guy in real life so it's something I'm use to at least (=
