I really love the talking moments in quests, I really hope DA3 has more rather than less.

Fighting is okay, but its not why I play dragon age.

Oh and no autodialogue with the lots of talking - its fun because I am involved.

Oh and I don't want long winded conversations about nothing, I want every word to mean something, but I want there to be lots of somethings to mean :P

I think there's a fine line to walk between a good amount of dialogue to help you connect with the characters and the lore, and just way too much talking. While I don't primarily play Bioware games for the action, I do enjoy shanking various creatures and I don't want the quality of that experience to suffer.

True, its all about hitting beats, but I would prefer to be immersing myself in a world of characters then grinding.

That depends. I'm fine with having lots of conversations, as long as the characters use the minimum amount of words needed to make whatever point they're making. DA:O's interminable monologues were terrible, and they don't reflect the way that conversation really works.

I want full text. I want to know every single word my character is going to say and nothing more. And I alone will decide what it sounds like and what the tone is in my mind.

Apparently this is only possible and fully realized with a silent protagonist, which Bioware seems to have completely rejected in favor of the expensive audio and limited dialogue wheel with the poor paraphrases.

I believe StElmo "fixed" the OP, adding Bekkael's suggestion, not the latter's post.

Not so much in quests, but I'd love the chance to talk to companions more often

Ohh, my mistake. I'm just so used to people using that sort of construction to "fix" each other's posts... you know, even though it's against the rules and all.

Er, I mean... sure. Dialog is good and autodialog is bad. I have contributed to this topic.

It really did, you had a few options for showing your approval few for you anger some neutral - i didnt like being forced into these 3 for every responce.

Don't get me wrong, I love the concept of placing an "intent" icon next to dialogue, since intent is hard to convey with just text (especially incomplete text).  However, there are more than just 6 or 7 different "intents."  If you are going to do it, then do it right.  Sometimes the intent is simply to convey information.  For example, if I need to tell an NPC "If you cut that wire, the bomb will explode," maybe my only intent is to effectively convey that information so that the NPC understands the situation.  In DA2, you would have 3 options:'

Please listen to me.  I know we've had our differences but cutting that wire is a mistake!
Go ahead and cut that wire, so long as you're ok with being heretofore described as "extra crispy."
Don't you dare cut that wire!  I'll chop your head off if you even think about it!

I won't be happy until I can have deep philosophical and moral debates / discussions with all my crew.

..but yes - more dialogue - none of it auto would be grand.

You should be able to if they map the dialogue wheel correctly.

I love the amount of dialogue in BioWare games but sometimes I get bored.
There were lots of moments in ME2 where I just wanted to get to the shooting bits - although I think that's sorta mood dependant.

I support the less auto-dialogue for definite though.
I think the amount of dialogue is just about right.
