@ShadyKat:  Did you read the quotes by David Gaider I reposted in this thread? Because your assumptions seem off in a number of respects.

It may not be the argument the devs themselves use, but some posters still really like using it.

Doesn't change the fact that this is a troll thread, saying humans are boring in DA and then adding the untrue **** of how most people play humans because they can't bear the thought of playing as anything other than a white man (implying racism).

Dalish Elves think themselves superior to everyone else (the shortlived children), so do dwarfs, the only ones that seem to value ability above race are the Kos... the Qunari, so all of the condescending jerks can go and shove their preferences in their ass.

Don't want to play as a human? Don't play them, vote with your money!!! If your opinion is relevant at all then the sales will take a drastic hit and the developers will change things on the next installment, if you aren't willing to even do that then shut the **** up and enjoy the game as it is; attacking what other people like just show that you are truly a minority and in the great sheme of things, in democracy minorities are ignored.

Deal with it.

Most boring race? Meh... Poor argument if you ask me. The human race is the most variable one and not one human being is the same. There's so much individuality, different traits, behaviours that I don't find my own race boring. I don't like playing small characters and I don't find it appealing to have pointy ears. Elves in DAO were simply human beings with sharp ears, in my honest opinion.

Are people trying to turn what I said into a racist comment? Let me clarify what I said. I said most games tend to have white males as the hero, because a majority of games are white males. They tend to relate more easily with who they are. That isn't a indictment on the game industry, it's just the truth. This thread itself kind of proves it. Most people in this thread claim, they play as humans instead of elves and dwarves, because they relate better. No one is saying this is a bad thing. Just that some people would like to see something different from the norm.

The ME board had this same thing pop up. Many people were asking why no female Shepard in any of the advertising? Because most gamers are male, and relate more to seeing males as leads in action games. Do people honestly believe this isn't true? If you think so, you're a little bit naïve.

This is assuming we are forced into being a human. If thats not the case I will be pleasently surprised, and proceed to jump back on the BioWare train.

The OP posted that it's not confirmed, he just wants to talk about why DA2 forced the player to play as human and discuss whether it should happen in DA3. It came across a little weird, but a lot of people were disappointed by this fact. Even if the OP is trolling, or whatever, this could be a real thread with a good discussion.
I HATED playing as only a human in DA2. But there were even more problems with it than just that. Choices that didn't change anything, the railroading plot and ending, etc. So I wouldn't say that it was boring, but disappointing.
I wanted to play as an Elf, preferrebly Dalish, or a dwarf. It's a fantasy setting, I wanna see some fantasy.

Even if we can only play as one race, what makes humans the most boring? Did you find Loghain to be a boring character? He was one of the deepest and most interesting characters in Origins as far as I'm concerned, and he was human.

That said, I do definitely support multiple races in DA3. In fact, I support any kind of CC with more depth to it than race and class choice.

They could identify better with humans, not because they are white male, but simply because they are humans themself. That has nothing to do with the skin color or the gender since you could be a white male with any other race in DAO.

The combination of II's pc being human only and no news on III's I suspect.

I liked Logian as a character, DuskWarden. But deep and complex? He wanted power, and killed his king to gain it. Wasn't much else to it. He was the classic "Judas" style villain.

Loghain didn't want power.

Frankly I'm shocked I didn't participate in that thread.  I was certainly around at the time.  Huh.

I'm kind of irritated that they don't expect us to play the game more than once.  From my perspective, replaying the game is kind of the whole point.  It is only through a desire to replay that I really appreciate a game, so if I never want to replay it then I never really appreciate it.

The point - in context, iirc - is that the metrics are evidence that most players do not.  It does not necessarily follow that they are therefore designing their games around a single playthrough experience.  In fact the implication would seem quite the opposite to me, seeing as he said it was a plus and not a nonfactor.

I don't know what it is specifically about the DA universe, but I enjoy being a human above the other options. Maybe it's because humans are typically cast as tyrants or upstarts, and I feel I must "represent" the best of my race?

Something about the DA elves (in general) always bothered me...that "woe is me, I'm oppressed" trope.

Human character wasn´t special, yet every origin of DA:O had great backstory in each way dominating to DA2. My personaly favourite were the Dwarf Noble and Town elf, but others were also very good - only poor one which was for me weak was in general mage story - it wasn´t bad at all but i was missing something...

I played the Human Noble in DA:O and enjoyed it, it fit very well with the overall storyline (But WTF was with your brother? Build up and then just thrown in, felt a bit tacked on)

My problem was that humans had no variety in choice, what if the human wante dto be something eles? A gutter rat/orphan? Something different. The other races had more of a choice.

Then DAII that choice was completely stripped from you.

I hope with DAIII they give us back origin choices.

That is... pretty much the opposite of Loghain's character.

Also, the wording on the white male human part was kinda poor. I know what you meant now, but it did come off quite differently in the original post. (Besides, one must not be a hite male to prefer rping a (white) male human. I'm not male, but when I play an RPG I vastly prefer playing male characters.)
