Why are we forced to play as the most boring race?

The other is voice.

By having a set race they can have a fully voiced character (Shepard, Hawke etc) - otherwise to do that would require 6 separate voice actors for Human, Elf, Dwarf. You would also need to have a greater amount of dialogue for the player character taking their race into affect.

You know what would fix that? A silent protag, like Origins. Less work for them, and we get to imagine our character sounding like we want and we can get more dialogue choices.

Indeed - my next paragraph down said exactly that. Silent protagonist all the way is my preferred way to play.

Aww look at that - it rhymed.

In real life I'm common Human. I'll happy if I have a chance to become Human Noble (especially Royal Family)  in DAIII

And F.Y.I. Human is always my favourite (Elf is OK, but I prefer Human)

Obviously, none of you'll have experienced the pure joy of playing a dwarf.

I don't think the other races are inherently more interesting, so I dispute your "most boring" premise emphatically.

If you take out the origins and the odd piece of dialogue here or there in the game - there was very little impact on the game as a whole.

...but those Origins were damn fine.

Oh and should mention, having a voiced protagonist is not a hurdle towards multiple races in games. Word of God says so.

They'd just share the voice.

There would not be a need to record six voices, just the usual two.  This could mean the options would be something like... human, city elf, surface dwarf.  But there are your racial choices right there.

TVTropes term, basically means "writer said so."

Link

Though given what he said it would have been more accurate for me to say that player voices is not the hurdle, it is a hurdle, just not the primary one.

 Title. Seriously, lets review

-Human Noble was the most boring Origin Story. Literally every other Origin was fantastic and I'd put HN as good at best.
-There isn't any flair to being a human.
-We are humans in our every day life. Why be one in a video game?

Seriously. Why?
This is assuming we are forced into being a human. If thats not the case I will be pleasently surprised, and proceed to jump back on the BioWare train.

Because 80% played humans in Origins.

I personally hated the noble dwarf origin...I prefered dwarf Commoner.

They want the game to SELL.

I believe we should have a choice but they will NEVER remove the human origin because its the most popular.

I thought the Human Noble origin was the best of the bunch.

It was the most tied in with the main plot, and it gives a personal angle for wanting to bring down Howe and Loghain that isn't present in most of the other origins.

They could have easily made connections like that for the other races. Human Nobles are to Dragon Age as Liara is to Mass Effect. "Writer's Pet" I believe the correct term would be.

Nobody is forcing you to play it.

The fact remains MORE people played humans above all the other classes.

And the Liara comparison is really ridiculous.

I think, if it is really a human, then for the same reason Mass Effect 3 is called Retake Earth and not Retake Palawan or Tuchanka.

I only played as a human noble to marry Alistair and be queen.

And 99% of my humans went off to be Wardens with Alistair.

Everyone has choices and thats what made the game great.

Pretend you're an elf irl and then playing a human will feel exotic. *runs away*

You might be on to something, maybe we should all try being furries before DA3 release for a couple of weeks.

Edit: Or better yet - Cosplayers.

Because the other races are not really worth it. Especially when not playing as a Grey Warden.

Elves are second class citizens and would be prevented from being involved in most things simply because they are elves.

Dwarves are....well.... boring and mostly limited to underground. Compared to humans, they don't offer much anything else different .

The Humans are versatile. They're a jack-of-all-trades. And they're everywhere.

I would have no problem if Bioware just decides to leave out the other races and concentrate on humans to give a more interesting experience.

On a purely aethestic level, I get you.  That's why I play as a Sylvari in GW2.  Pwetty colors!

As a dwarf or elf in DA:O, I just felt like that odd duck that interacted with humans a lot and got slightly different dialogue at particular points in the game.  Other than that, I felt like the origin stories were simply based on preference.  I liked..all of them.  They each had that moment of emotional impact for me.  However, I played the city elf the most.

One of the worst points for DA2 in my opinion was that they shoe horned you into being human. One of the tenets of a good RPG is character customization and amazing story. If both of those cannot be had, one can be sacrificed in the name of making the other better (The Witcher 2 is a good example of sacrificing character customization for one of the best current generatoin RPG stories). But, for me, the story was not remotely good enough in DA2 to excuse the lack of character customization. So for DA3, there either needs to be an amazing story (one of the best that Bioware has ever written, if not THE best), or the customization present in DA:O needs to be reintroduced.

I find HN repulsive from now on ever since it was confirmed that you're forced to be racist at the beginning. But I personally am for playing elves all the way in any case.

races and concentrate on humans to give a more interesting experience.

I support leaving out humans and only letting nonhumans become the Inquisitor.

If we hadn't had the option to play as more races before, I probably wouldn't mind being forced to be human so much, but having had them and lost them, it feels like the new games are incomplete without those options.

While I don't care for how it's worded, I have to agree with the OP. I personally felt the Human Noble was the weakest origin in DA:O (along with the Human Mage; seriously, elves have a greater effinity for magic and have the double-prejudice RP potential, so I saw no reason to be human), and Hawke was not much better for essentially being Human Noble 2.

Not only do I not care for role-playing humans in fantasy games (I role-play a human in real life, so why would I do so in a game?), but any interest I might have had in DA humans was diminished by my distaste for Andrastian human culture. If we got to be a Chasind or a Rivaini Seer, I could almost live with it, but so far, every human DA protagonist just has not done it for me.

I'm sorry BioWare, but one size does not fit all.

I waited to play HN last since it sounded too cliched to me. I was really pleasantly surprised when I played it and found how deeply I loved the Couslands (and my sweet revenge against Howe, who was a pretty minor bad guy before then).

Still, here's the thing - I appreciate playing a human more when I have the choice not to.

More options = better than less options. Playing an elf who's mistreated by humans made me understand human culture better. Play a dwarf who has no need for those worthless topsiders made me understand human culture better. Playing a Dalish who blames every human for every misfortune that's ever befallen my people made me appreciate the human niche in Thedas better.

So I'm not for taking human PC's out, but I don't want to be stuck with one as my only option either.
