Because this was a serious problem in DA2 on the consoles unless you had a giant HDTV, and even though I don't plan on buying Dragon Age 3 for my 360 (partly because of this very issue)  I don't want anyone else to suffer from this.

After all it really was a drastic size change from DA:O to DA2 :

Let me emphasize that this really did make a difference playing Dragon Age 2 for me, I rarely ever bothered with the codex for example because it was impossible to read it, and pratically ever other font on the screen.  Subtitles?  Yeah right, better hope you can understand what everyone is saying.   Paraphrases? Barely ever bothered with those so thank god for the  icons.

So as a concerned player who likes to sit a healthy distance away from her television I have to beg the devs to go back to a more pratical font size for Dragon Age 3.

EDIT: With that said I do in no way want the pc version of the game to have to change its font size. I consider this a console only issue.

Yeah this is an issue on the consoles as you sit further away from the tv. I remember this being an issue when i was playing mass effect 2 on my 360. It is easily doable and a reasonable request.

Seriously? I thought it was just me and my crappy tv...I was even planning on saving up and buying a much better one before the release of da3 (cos I love reading the codex) probably still will anyway but I support this.

The only tv I didn't have an issue reading the text on was one my grandma's 60" HDtv. :pinched:

Just a heads up, they sell 360 video cables that can hook up to PC monitors. Assuming you have a relatively modern HD one. I went out and got one when my dog decided to knock over and destroy my HDtv. Was 40ish bones or so.

This, absolutely this. I loved reading the codex in DA:O, and being unable to do so in DA2 because of text size was yet another reason to be frustrated with it.

Make the text size bigger.

Appreciate the suggestion, but we really shouldn't have to go and buy something like that play one videogame when we have perfectly good tvs and really comfy sofas and beds.  It's not like this is something very diffcult for them to implement.

Sorry about  your tv.

I've got a 42 inch Flat Panel HD Television, and I still support this.

Reason being, prior to that I had a 13 inch standard definition television.

Playing games with small ass text would aggravate me.

Size matters!

I remember I used to have a pretty crappy TV when ME2 came out. Reading the paraphrases (and the subtitles) was beyond difficult at times. I imagine DA2's text was similar.

This doesn't just help console gamers either, but also PC gamers who want to play using tv-out. A friend of mine hooked his PC up to his TV via HDMI and tried to play DAO on it. He gave up pretty soon cause reading the small text of the DAO PC version when sitting a few meters away from the TV really hurt his eyes.

Replaying console DAO at the moment and it's not like I'm finding the larger font size to be detrimental to my experience. It's simply bigger.

Haha! Touche.

But this was actually thanks to the rise of HD television screens - although as a die hard PC gamer I would like to see the text a bit better too - playing at high resolutions on 4080p projectors or even at 2560x1600 or 2560x1440 the text can be a tad small.

Yeah this. Before my HD TV ME2 and DAII were crazy hard to read the text on. I bet ME3 text is hard to read on an SD TV too.

Still though, wasn't as bad as one unrelated game's text I played. Banjo Kazooie Nuts n' Bolts's text size... *shudders*

I approve of this.

Even if I wear my glasses and sit kind of close, I still can't see well. I'm kind of blind but not that much. I'd like to sit at a safe distance from the TV for once.

The console version themselves could be given the larger text size and not the pc version.  This is what they did for DA:O

But I guess that's because Bioware themselves didn't make the port.   Either way there really isn't an excuse for what happened with DA2 to happen with DA3

If I had to guess, most game developers (artists and QA included) have a setup like mine. Some sort of cubical desk, with HDTV on it. The developer sits roughly 1-2 feet from the TV. Thus, when they play/test the game, they are very close and the size of the font most likely doesn't register as something to take note of, especially if it is meant to be viewed from 6-10 feet away on a larger screen.

This sort of thing is typically handled by the lead UI artist and/or art director. I totally agree, though, and hope that they remember to make the font on consoles bigger, or at least adjustable.

This is a bigger deal than it might seem to players that haven't had to, in my case, go get their glass just to read the codex font, just for instance. I always play without sub-titles, so I was saved there.

In the case for people with sight issues I can certainly understand why this would be a pain. Anyone playing it on a small screen would no doubt have issues too. I'm fortunate that my TV is close to enough to where I'm sitting when I play. However if it was say on the other side of the room, I can't say with confidence I wouldn't have to strain to read DA2's small text on my current tv and I've 20/20 vision. It seems a simple option to give players control over the text size.
