YES
YES
DA:O's txt was very hard to read through my old TV, and sorting such an easily fixable and simple issue would make a big difference!

I honestly hope something is done about the ridiculously small font when playing on consoles. I play the Dragon Age & ME series on my PC but my brother plays on his PlayStation and when I see him play ME2+3 & the Dragon Age series I cringe. It is so difficult to read the text, only when standing closer to the screen could I even see the text. I don't know how he can stand playing those games on the PlayStation like that honestly. I would of gave up to be honest.
So hopefully a dev sees this & is able to do something about it as I think this is something very important as it effects the enjoyability of the game when your constantly squinting or have to sit on the floor to play the game because you can't read the text.

While it's common for PC gaming to be done 1-3 feet away from the monitor, it is not always done so. Why should text be smaller on PC? Nothing of high importance is going on while the dialogue wheel is being displayed, the game is paused while you're reading the codex... the only time I can see screen estate being a problem are the subtitles. But it's not like we need subtitles that take up half the screen or anything.Lenimph wrote...
The console version themselves could be given the larger text size and not the pc version. This is what they did for DA:O

This thread takes me back to when I first realized I couldn't play video games on my standard tv anymore. Mass Effect 2 and Modern Warfare2. I couldn't read the text even if I was sitting a couple of feet in front of the screen. Had to upgrade to HDTV. Now I play on a 54" screen. I can't comment on how I can read the dialogue because mostly I just choose; top-say something nice, middle-say something funny, bottom--say something that will tick everyone off. So, we really don't need to read in Dragon Age anyway.
I have a farely large standard tv (50" I think) and I sit ehh maybe like 6 or 7 feet away from it at most and Dragon Age 2 was the only game I had where this was really an issue. It wasn't really the samecase for any of the Mass Effect games for me anyway.
I like my tv... I think it still holds up after all these years. I don't want an upgrade. It has great speakers too.
I have a friend who has a small HDTV, I think it was a 30" or something and we had to sit on the floor to play the game and read the screen. It was worse then my standard set up at home. So it's not just an issue for standard televisions but smaller HDTV ones as well.

Please note that removing subtitles and going with all-audio is NOT a desirable solution to this.

I'm not saying I disagree completely but I do think the smaller text was more visually appealing on the pc version of DA:O and DA2 even though it would have never been pratical on the console version of the game. The font size used in the DA:O console version combined with the dialogue wheel of DA2 would probably look cluttered on most PC screens.

I am fine with the current size of the text but I am sure that there are many people who would want it larger or smaller.

Asked for this in ME3 as well. I ended up buying a bigger tv (which I needed anyways.. but still). Yes a text size option is needed or default to a larger text size on the console versions.

No, they should make the text scalable.

They shouldn't just make the text bigger, because that would annoy people who like the size DA2 offered.

Yeah this is an issue on the consoles as you sit further away from the tv. I remember this being an issue when i was playing mass effect 2 on my 360. It is easily doable and a reasonable request.
I wish you folks luck in your endeavor to get reasonably-sized text for your consoles, but please keep in mind I don't want GIANT WASTE OF SPACE text on my PC.
But, yes, a port (or different platform version) should be more than "which commands do we assign to which buttons" and take into account issues like this.

Could this not just be an option? Like, choose the text size from three pre-set options (Small, Normal, Large)?
I have a feeling it could be done rather easily, it just a matter of making the devs know this is an issue and that we need the option.

There are issues with it that involve certification. Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony all have checklists of requirements that must be adhered to, and text formatting and placement is a subcategory all its own. As one example, any text that clearly continues off the screen (in all shipped languages, which is usually EFIGS) will cause you to fail certification. It isn't a trivial task to reformat the screen UI for bigger text, but it isn't a hugely daunting one either. It just requires some time allocated for it for a UI programmer to work some magic.
I've done my share of making UI pass certification, and messing with the text can be frustrating. The german language in specific causes all sorts of problems.
