I'm wondering if there are some scripts that are widely liked/used by players here.

What I'm looking for is something that makes use of much of what's in my inventory and spellbook, but keeps it proportional to the threat level and situation -- i.e. it doesn't use that 3000 GP wand of awesomeness on a gibberling, or drop a fireball on top of the party -- but if you're poisoned and you have an antidote, you'll drink it.

Anyone? This game has been around so long I figure there are many options out there for scripts and script-editors -- by now there must be some consensus on which ones are better than others. I'm debating whether to find a good script someone has done or try to customize my own scripts.

The only scripts that people typically mess with at all are for the monsters. It's generally assumed that everyone turns off AI completely and runs the party themselves.

I know I always do. All of the default AIs are moronic.

Ditto on what Matuse said. I didn't answer originally because times may have changed since I played, but perhaps it's still a given that turning off the AI is the way to go. I turned it off after struggling to control the party in combat became an insane frustration. So much easier taking control of everyone and using pause liberally.

Yeah I tried running "SuperScripts" and immediately reloaded -- "it will keep your party alive" was the guy's justification for using every protection scroll regardless of threat and burning through spells on small targets.

I remember I wrote my own custom script 10+ years ago that I was happy with, but I don't have it now. Dunno if I want to sit down with the documentation and learn the scripting language again...
