Perhaps the Arishok situation will be like Wrex and Wreav. Depending on what happened it will either be the current Arishok or Sten who is Arishok.

Using only the power of my imagination which could be very very wrong....

Sten becomes the Arishok regardless. The Arishok failed in his duty to transport a book back home. He then overstepped his bounds by starting a small war/riot in the Free Marches. As such he is lowered a step or three and a new guy steps in.

Our Sten from Origins who I guess could be dead in your Origins save.... perhaps. But just leaving him in Lothering and not being there when the darkspawn arrive... who's to say what happened to that guy?

It is fully within the bounds of the Arishoks authority to start a war.. That's actually one of his prime roles.. And only in one case did he certainly fail to obtain the tome, but in that case he is dead anyway.

I have no authority here. All I'm going on is the fact that he repeatedly says it's not the demand on the Qun to educate and order Kirkwall... and then he loses his temper and starts doing it. Feels like he may have overstepped to me. But I have no idea what the Arishok is allowed to do. I know he's the head of the military and there's three leaders of the Qunari peoples.... and that's it.

He says that it isn't a demand of the Qun to fix Kirkwall's problems, because that is not why he was dispatched originally. The demand of the Qun was to obtain the tome. However if he would remain unable to obtain it, he would also be denied Par Vollen, since duty would require him to remain. So he instead decided to follow another Qunari doctrine. The one of conversion. If he would be unable to return home, he would make Kirkwall a Qunari outpost.

It's a central part of Mass Effect because it's a single story with a single main character. There's no reason Dragon Age needs the same. I'd argue it's a superfluous part that places unnecessary restrictions on the storytelling.

Fallout and Buldar's Gate didn't need save importing. The Witcher has minimal save importing.

They should just do what they did at the beginning of KotOR 2 or Mass Effect 2 and have an in-game form or conversation to set important states they want to reference.

The effects of DAO and DA2 have at least some sort of impact all of Thedas.

Wake up, wake up! It was just a draem.
DA2 consequences? Of what kind I ask you? I didnt notice Hawke's decisions to have any impact whatsoever.

Since were talking about importing effecting story.
I think there should get rid of importing.
Importing while a great idea, just seems to be to much work for Bioware to do properly.

Remember these are the people who value there "art" more than "your story"
