Probably a bit of an odd question, but at present we have a range of snippets from the various canticles within the Chant Of Light, revealed within the games, but nothing really approaching a cohesive whole.

Obviously I'm not expecting anything close the entire Chant to be recited anywhere within DA:III (as I recall it's supposed to take several weeks to recite in full) but I'd love to hear some more verses at some point.

I don't know about anyone else, but I personally find the few snippets we do have to be very well-written, evocative, mysterious, and rather compelling - despite the fact that most of my Dragon Age characters to date have tended to be, at best, apathetic toward the Chantry.

Any plans to expand the Chant of Light, and provide some more verses for us lovers of obscure lore?

I fully agree about the Forgotten Verses.

I'd imagine that it will take a few years for them to be properly, authenticated, checked, double-checked, passed around various Chantry scholars, studied, (and even possibly revised/edited should they contain anything that contradicts the current incarnation of the CoL) before being allowed into general circulation.

As for the Chant actually being a 'chant' rather than a recital, I guess I can see your point.. though I've always likened it to an actor reciting in blank verse, rather than somethng droned out in plain song.

I suppose it depends upon how literally you interpret the term 'chant'.

In DA:O it is said the only place the Chant is sung all the way through is in Val Royeaux, so maybe we will get to hear much more of the Chant of Light in the city streets or at the Grand Cathedral.

Does anybody else remember the sister outside the Denerim chantry reciting it with food substitutions? If they do it, I hope it's like that.

I would prefer a complete "In Pursuit of Knowledge: The Travels of a Chantry Scholar".

That thing has got to be half of the codex.

Yes.

Heck, if you ask nicely one of the developers might quote a verse at you. They've done it before.

"There was always music in Val Royeaux, streaming from the many windows -- quiet refrains and triumphant choruses... and always, floating above that all, the Chant, coming from the Grand Cathedral. It was magnificent."

"The Veal holds no uncertainty for her, and she will know no fear of death, for the Maker shall be her bacon and her shield"

Definitely my favourite section. I want more verses of Sister Theohild's interpretation. Posted Image

my fave is this
All men are the Work of our Maker's Hands,
From the lowest slaves
To the highest kings.
Those who bring harm
Without provocation to the least of His children
Are hated and accursed by the Maker.

I would be interested to see specifically where the Chant itself condemns blood magic.

For she has said to us, "Magic exists to serve man, and never to rule
over him." Therefore, I say to you, they who work magic which dominates
the minds and hearts of others, they have transgressed the Makers law.
Also, Our Lady said to us, "Those who bring harm without
provocation to the least of His children are hated and accursed by the
Maker." And so it is made clear to me, as it should be to us all: That
magic which fuels itself by harming others, by the letting of blood, is hated by the Maker.

So it doesn't seem to be explicitly condemned in the Chant.

Yeah that is the Divine's interpretation.  The Chant itself only seems to condemn the use of the blood of others.
