Since September 15th 2012, I have been unable to access either Single Player or Multiplayer.
Booting up the game, I press 'Any Key' to get to the Main Menu.
The Main Menu hangs for sometimes up to several minutes, and then takes me to a separate screen with an error message:
"Mass Effect 3 servers are unavailable at this time."
The only option is to press OK, which takes me back to the main screen where another error message comes up:
"Unable to authorize the listed DLC. Please log in to the Alliance Network with the account used to purchase the DLC.
Collector's Edition Online Pass Entitlement
From Ashes
Leviathan"
I am thus prevented not only from accessing Multiplayer, but I am prevented from accessing the main Single Player game as well, as my saves are dependent upon having my purchased content.
No settings have changed since my last play on Sept 15th 2012, but nonetheless here are all the steps I have taken to combat this problem:
- I have confirmed my ISP is not blocking any ports.
- I have ensured my router has UPnP enabled.
- I have ensured any firewalls are disabled.
- I have scanned my computer using TrendMicro's Housecall and confirmed no issues present.
- I have disabled any antivirus programs to prevent any conflicts.
- I have connected to my router via an Ethernet cable.
- Numerous PC reboots and Origin reboots have no effect.
- Origin is confirmed up to date.
- Origin's Repair Install utility confirms my local file integrity, and confirms my game is up to date.
- Origin's Update utility reconfirms my game is of the latest version.
- I have uninstalled and Reinstalled the game and all DLC to no effect.
I have called EA's support line and they have confirmed the server is working on their end. They also confirmed for me that my Origin ID was neither suspended, nor banned. Their only advice to me was to restart the computer and reinstall the game, neither of which had an effect.
I would also like to note that I asked the advisor if he had received any calls from customers experiencing similar problems. He told me I was his first one. I explained that before I called the support line I researched the problem on the Internet and it seemed to be a fairly widespread issue as I had seen it posted numerous times on the EA support forum itself. His response was a rather condescending "If you look hard enough you can find problems for anything on the Internet." He neglected to acknowledge that the documentation I was referencing I had, in fact, found on EA's support forums themselves.
I am, understandably, very upset with this problem. To the best of my ability I have ascertained the issue is not clientside. I will be calling back before their closing time tonight at 10PM GMT and will post the results, if any.

I have waited for the new ME3 patch before calling again, and it has not solved my problem.

even if your firewall is disabled you will still need ot add the allow entries to it before it will allow the required conections.
personally i am useing mcrapee (free with bt) and it has 4 entries purely for me3 which are
origin client service, origin, ea core server application, me3
theres a very good chance that utilizing a non ms cerrtified firewall product will cause conflicts if your useing vista or 7 as your os (you dont mention what sort of pc/os your on) so quite possibley you will aslo need ot add seperate entries in the windows built in firewall (if like me you also use mcrapee then you wont need ot wory about this providing you allowed it ot take control of the windows firewall when you installed it) now if your useing mcrapee you will however need ot disable its netgaurd feature (which just blocks anything thats in the process of changing) if your useing norton it has similar "issues"
you also need (after enabling your firewall) to go into the advanced settings and set it to spring a popup for all actions and each time ther eis an update you should see 3 or 4 "a program has changed block/allow popups" make sure your in widnowed mode on me3 for this to be visable if your useing win7 (you cna swithc back to fullscreen once the updates are installed
oh and after doing any updates make sure to exit origin then restart it before tryign to launch me3.
there are some other things if all that doesnt fix the problem also knowing what isp your on and if it happens all the time or just in peak hours (3pm>midnight weekdays for most uk isp's) and if you have access to your router check the upnp connections to see if when origin is running (and its hsowing you logged in) there is an entry for ea tunnel listed there.
if your online post back soon cos once the event starts i prolly wont be checkign on here to often (oh and tomorrow i'm out for most of the day as well )

I have the same issue starting October 4th. It started prepatch but still is there. I only got the DLC warning message once but the rest ist pretty much the same.
Yesterday it did work out by reclicking onto the multiplayer and thereby reconnecting. Usually it worked with the second try (Wich is annoying enough). But today I always get the ME3 Servers not available atm message
Edit: Now I get the DLC msg as well. I can't connect anymore at all

I am using Windows 7, my ISP is BT, I am on an Infiniti fibre optic connection and I routinely get 56mbps down, 26 up.
This problem is present 100% of the time. I can never connect regardless of time of day. I have tried at 7am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, 8pm, 11pm, 2am, and 4am all on different days. No dice.
The problem being with this is that my computer has been able to play ME3 Multiplayer and Singleplayer reliably up until an Origin update, which happened for me circa September 15th, which was the last date I was confirmed able to access the game. Coincidentally or not it was also the date I filed a report with EA regarding the Multiplayer store having "eaten" my Bioware points, not rewarding me any packs despite having used real money to purchase the items. I checked and rechecked my inventory for any new items or characters and had received nothing, but my points were gone, so I filed a report on September 15th. Nothing has been done regarding that issue and I have not been able to access my game since.
Currently I am able to play online with other games, utilise the Internet as normal, and go about my business. It is only Mass Effect 3 that is experiencing this problem, and again only after an Origin update. I have also confirmed that in my (disabled) firewall exceptions, Origin and ME3 are listed.

from the above i surmise that your useing the hh3a and failed ot change the protforwarding settings for origin>>>>
get a decent router that isnt completly junk (my personal preferance is for the billion bipac 7800, NOT the 7800n cos wifi for me is uselss) that doesnt require you to create specific rules for each game and refuse muliple uses for the same port, unlike the hh (any version) which has bt's useless single conected games device dropdown menu functions.
sad to say but its a user problem not something thats game or isp related, and yes origin changes port numbers on a regular basis because EA is a useless company that rather than contacting isp's to have there traffic unblocked /unfiltered as P2P attempts to circumvent things by adjusting port numbers >>>>>

I'm afraid I'm not really understanding as I have never had to create any exceptions on my router before in order to play any game. I have also played on this connection and other people's connections in the past without issue. I am able to play games online without issue, it is only ME3 experiencing this problem. Origin also connects to the Internet without issue.
No settings have changed at all since the last time I was able to access the game.

on the home hub's management interface (advanced setings) theres a bunch of different options.
theres a problem created by origin that it keeps changing the port numbers (internal/external) when it is updated, its not something you would necessarily know about unless you were looking/checking for it.
the homehub normally will just work howeer if you have more than one device connected ot it and you have the builtin firewall enabled it will probably be the cause of the problem and require you to create specific rules to allow origin and me3 acces to the internet there is a way to disable this function but its been more than 24 months so you would need ot consult the hh's manual, however be aware that when the thing downloads nad installs updates for itself (it used ot be every friday) then it will change your setting to whatever BT's updated software says it should be at.
when it starrted happening to me 4 years ago i bought a decent router and now only get the homehub out when i'm useing it to fault find, however i've changed router 3 times. it was a common problem for people who used xbox and also tried ot use steam wiht the hh2 and according ot what i've been reading on the bt comunity forums that hasnt changed wiht the introduction of the hh3.
as i said its not something you would of changed that caused the problem its a connection problem caused by the programs(s) AND the way the home hub routers work

Right, I see. That makes sense. I will have a look at this tomorrow when I am able to dork around with router settings. Thank you for explaining, I really appreciate it.
I will post back with any outcome.

Right... Is there any sort of guide on how to set up special rules for this thing? I can't find the ports I need to enter into the settings.
If I have to do it every week, then I have to do it every week.

On the subject of BT. Your HH isn't all to blame.
BT are working through a problem in the system that occurs around peak hours, cutting users off from EA content (and a few other websites too)

That is interesting.
I just tried creating a custom rule and forwarding ports 5659 and 6000 to absolutely no effect. I am still entirely unable to play my game. I can never connect, no matter the time of day.
