I had one run through where at the very beginning I told Merrill she was sweet. I didn't flirt with her again through all of act 1- and was already starting things with Isabella- when Merrill shows up on my doorstep telling me I'm pretty. My only options were "yes come be with me' or "you're a loony who should be locked up for her safety and the safety of others". I would have preferred "I like you as a friend" or "I'm only interested in Isabella" or something else.

I'm fine with the mean break ups, I just want the original flirts to be more subtle. Like in Origins there were some nice ones, but Hawke was just like "let's do it".

Beg your sincerest apologies, then. Perhaps you'd like to give us all a list over Acceptable Topics for Real Gamers that you'd rather have us discuss?

Wanting an RPG that lets you build your character? *gasp* Preposterous! How dare they!

Yeah, well, killing stuff is all nice and fun, but I'm not playing DA for the oh so... um, awesome combat and ****. Or fancy stat numbers. Or... any number of things that aren't about story, characters, and, you know, role playing the character I created.

gam·er[gey-mer]
noun
a person who plays games, especially computer or video games.

Video games are now a mass medium, widely enjoyed on a variety of platforms by a diverse audience. The ESA's 2012 Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Game Industry reveals interesting demographic facts about today's gamers and the games they play, including:
[*]The average gamer is 30 years old and has been playing for
12 years. Sixty-eight percent of gamers are 18 years of age or
older.
[*]Forty-seven percent of all players are women, and women over
18 years of age are one of the industry's fastest growing
demographics.
[*]Today, adult women represent a greater portion of the
game-playing population (30 percent) than boys age 17 or younger
(18 percent).
[*]Sixty-two percent of gamers play games with others, either
in-person or online. Seventy-eight percent of these gamers play
with others at least one hour per week.
[*]Thirty-three percent of gamers play social games.
[*]Gamers play on-the-go: 33 percent play games on their smartphones, and 25 percent play on their handheld device.
[*]Ninety percent of the time parents are present when games
are purchased or rented. Ninety-eight percent of parents feel the
Entertainment Software Rating Board rating system is helpful in
choosing games for their children. Seventy-three percent of
parents believe that the parental controls available in all new
video game consoles are useful.
[*]Parents also see several benefits of entertainment software,
with 52 percent saying video games are a positive part of their
child’s life. Sixty-six percent of parents believe that game play
provides mental stimulation or education, 61 percent believe games
encourage their family to spend to time together, and 59 percent
believe that game play helps their children connect with their
friends.
Source: www.theesa.com/facts/gameplayer.asp

I don't see any place where it says that to be a real gamer you have to not be interested in hairstyles or break up options. Actually- it seems like "gamers" are all over the board when it comes to demographics, likes, dislikes, and types of games played. According to most people who aren't you- a gamer is simply someone who likes games.  So just because we may have different things that are important to us in our games- it doesn't mean we're not gamers.

Exactly, umm, maybe you just showed up to Bioware games and haven't played any of them, but building your characters personality, looks and interactions with companions is a huge part of the game. And the reason people can still be playing five years after the games come out.  But still, lets see a more interesting topic for Mr. Garbage... Lets discuss the new companion armour set, oh wait, thats just discussing what outfits we want our companions to wear! Oh boy finding great discussion topic on these two bits of news we have isn't really easy.

Personally, I hate games. It's why I spend all this time playing them and the discussing them with others. Similarly, I hate breathing. It's why I spend all this time inhaling and exhaling. Just for the hatez!!

I really liked the option in DA:O of the "it's not you it's me" responses to breaking a romance with someone.  In DA2 seemed like the break up conversations were really harsh and cruel.  I'd like a "let them down easy" option for DA3.
