In a panel, one of the devs mentioned that a DA3 multiplayer would be like Baldur's Gate's multiplayer. Having never played the game, could someone tell me what to expect?

In short, campaign co-op.

Take over a companion, or make their own character?

You made your own char, the host decides who controls rest of the companions.

Wow you are right, I never used traps in the game, but setting them would work well with a semi horde mode.

Co op sounds nice, but that would eventually get boring if that is the only mode we get to play.

horde could be easy to implement, the addition of traps, objectives and one or another twist is bound to go pretty far if you ask me.

And MOBA style... Let's say I don't like the LoL comunity (or any of the others)

I would prefer none. I would prefer that the time, money, disc space and effort spent on creating an MP mpde for a universe that dosn't need it, where it dosn't fit and dosn't belong just to shill out some micro-transaction system at the bespoke of the Corperate Overlords to "tick box" instead be spent on making the single player awesome.

I know as a mere customer we matter little but yeah...

But.

What happens when I'm playing co-op with a friend and I pick multiple instances of heart dialogue with my LI.

Like. They better not get to see whatever happens before the fade to black, man.

(Don't worry, I'm joking.)

Edit: Maybe they can get a loading screen which comprises some pleasant music and an image of my tent.

Do you have a source? I'm both disappointed and happy at the same time. Disappointed because I was hoping for an original multiplayer mode, happy because I've always had a good experience with the co-op from previous Bioware games(plus this means toolset is likely available to players).

Seriously, if you like ME3 MP, than, you know, PLAY ME3 MP.

I am not sure why I still come over here. A lot of the posters that I enjoyed reading are over in the PE forums now. Add an OPTIONAL co-op mode if EA forces you, but COME ON.

I want a single player role playing game.

I would personally like co-op in a totally seperate campaign optimized for multiplayer.

Yes please. Preferably a short one, but with multiple difficulty levels. They could offer more campagins as DLC.

This Pretty much. I enjoyed ME3's MP, but I still think that while enjoyable it -really- didn't need it and took resources in development and disc-space which could have been used to beef up the Single player.

Since there is already going to be some online / multiplayer element – I would love one element of it to be it along the lines of a strategy element.

Sending spies and armies to claim locations and take out enemies – it could almost be a civilization style environment without the city building.

Otherwise – I wouldn’t mind being able to build a squad from various characters and then play them against other players – with my squad levelling up in multiplayer or having my squad made up of human players. Could be handled similar to ToRs Flashpoints with story based objectives and dialogue too.

This.

Also in regards to Mp, if they now need to add it for whatever reason, my only wish is that they dont do like the terrible decision in ME3  and let it affect the SP.

Capture the castle - I remember a game mode in time splitters future perfect in which you'd have 2 opposing teams (attacking and defending). The defending team would be defending their keep whilst the attacking team would attempt to take it and kill their commander. That was pretty fun, choosing which approach to take, tactics could be employed and of course it doesn't need to be competitive the enemy could be A.I. Could be fun.

I would prefer none, but since I'm thinking this is off the table, co-op with a seperate multiplayer campaign.

If I buy DA3 (IF is the key word...) I buy a single player game. I don't care for the multiplayer. It's a part of the game I'm not going to use, so if it's to be done, I want it to not touch the game. In any part. not like ME3.

The biggest worry I have regarding MP in DA3 is if it would inhibit modding the game. I use a lot of mods for DA:O and DA2 (From hair styles/color to Adonnay weapons, up to things like Dragon Age Redesigned, etc.

I hope they make MP so that we can still mod the SP Game.

The first part will be single player only. The second part, if you want to finish the story, will require co-op. It will also feature battlegrounds outside of the canon that are optional.

... or not.

(I would prefer optional co-op campaign only, but let's face it. EA won't accept that if other studios have ways of sustaining income with single products.)

I prefer purposefully not contributing to threads only to instead regurgitate my old and tired opinions no multiplayer at all.

There are only 2 types of MP modes that I like: PvP done right (Dark Age of Camelot, recently Assassin's Creed) and PvE co-op campaign done right (Borderlands).
Still, I won't buy DA3 with MP, even if it's good.

I'd prefer a co-op campaign, and for MP to have no effect on single player campaigns at all. The ME MP was fun and all but got boring after a while.

I will be very surprised if their MP is like BG multiplayer. I think people may be reading too much into that comment.

Because it is in all caps. Its a thing from the ME3 multiplayer board that someone said once and it kinda stuck. Thats all.
