I'm going to guess always intended. Their mesh is visibly bulkier than other geth units, and the way they close in on cover makes no sense unless they're meant to be cover busters.

I do hope this is paired with some background fixes though, since those pyros are going to be really lethal now.

Agreed.  They don't carry grenades, so their cover busters would in fact be the geth pyros.

Am I the only one who takes the developers at their word when they say something explicitly? I get that without extensive programming knowledge it's hard for most people to see things from their perspective (myself very much included), but calling them liars just because they say something you don't like is a little over the top.

Especially in regards to this discussion, I daresay the one and only armored (with solely close-quarters-combat capabilities) enemy in the game that you can grab over counters may not have been intended to possess such a vulnerability (and given the similar size as other grab-able enemies, it's easy to think that the basic "mook" model was used to create the Pyro with the oversight of having failed to remove its grab-ability, not a stretch given all the other glitches and oversights plaguing this game from the get-go).

A lot of people complain about glitches, and then complain more when something they didn't know was glitched gets fixed (or just call the developers liars and refuse to believe it was a glitch). And the arguments that the game wouldn't have been released as such if it weren't intended (or would have been fixed sooner) is ridiculous and utterly baseless given all the pervasive and widespread glitches, not to mention how hard and time consuming it's been to fix them all.

I agree that the Geth are ridiculous and this only makes them moreso, but just like with the Krysae being "nerfed" once again by this latest patch, it may well open up the Geth to further rebalancing in all the ways that really make them cheap (and not being able to grab Pyros is, in and of itself, entirely sensible and not in any way cheap; if anything it was cheap how easily they could be dispatched, and now it's been set to rights).

In conclusion, unlike most people here on BSN I don't assume the Developers are lying unless I've been presented with compelling evidence accordingly, and in this (as in most/all things they've posted) there is no such evidence and people should really stop whining and just deal with reality for a change, a drastic/impossible suggestion, I know... but I can dream.

Deterrent. Heaven forbid anything make this game playable without buying ultimately-useless space points.

Hopefully they'll nerf the Pyro at some point to make up for this...

People would be more inclined to take them at their word if they weren't throwing things like telling us the previous patch fixed ULM, that the Typhoon in its current state is a good weapon, etc.

If you should be complaining about anything regarding the Pyro it should be the flame animation vs their range.

As for the Pyro no grab change, this isn't a big deal at all outside of farming. It adds a new wrinkle to hack objectives vs Geth. You just have to prioritize Pyros while they are at range.

this is actually an effective way to stop FBW, while also not hurting legit players.

I don't know about the rest of you but the 1% of the time I play Geth, Pyros never even come within 30 feet of me. This "buff" changes nothing but FBWGG.

Who cares?

This. And even if I did care, Bioware has said that it was always intended, much like you can't grab Phantoms. Why would they lie about something so trivial? They're willing to nerf the Piranha despite the copious whining on the board, why would they have an issue being honest about this? I think people that assume conspiracy for things this little are overestimating their real impact.

People that think that Bioware's gone out of their way to bother to lie to us about something so trivial are paranoid and just plain silly.

Right, just like Prime headshots were a glitch that somehow got its own special animation.  No one's buying this.

Hehe. This is so true it made me laugh.

The problem with this reasoning is that it is baseless and completely inaccurate. Every unit in the game has (until this new patch) a single damage modifier for headshots. Rather than being a glitch, it was decided that it wasn't practical to leave this mechanic working as such (bosses have bigger heads/are slower moving, as such are easier to headshot). In the interim while they painstakingly gave every unit in the game its own individually set modifiers, they removed headshots from relevant enemies. That's all there is to it, and none of it has anything to do with this discussion.

You can farm against any faction on FBW

Geth are not the easiest, they are by far the most buggiest of them all.

Personally, i like reapers on Gold/Plat. Cerberus is fine, but those freaking Phantoms that are a bit OP with their palm blaster, especially when you have 3-4 on Gold/Plat shooting at you from across the map.

Either way, I hope those good-for-nothings ****ing scramble to kill the Pyro units before they get to the counters. I hope their farming experience becomes as miserable as ****ing possible, and as a result they either quit or toughen up to play legitimately. Meanwhile, we will continue to actually fight the Geth and other enemies as we always have, prospering in most games, while struggling in some others, having an enjoyable time throughout. We earn our Credits and Experience Points, and in turn we earn our Weapons and Characters.

As mystified as I myself am that they would think those things fixed without having actually fixed them, I remain inclined to believe that they believed what they were saying when they said it; this makes them incorrect in those instances, but it does not make them liars.

Sick of this "you can't fight ideas with bullets"-esuqe bull****. The point isn't to make farming 'impossible,' however the Hell you'd do that, but to make the activity so undesirable that they quit doing it.

If people actually read and considered these points, we could eliminate half of the whining threads on this board. Good post.

Agreed. The flame animation is a legit, tangible issue. There's no way to tell how far you need to move to dodge a Pyro without the animation properly reflecting the range of the weapon.

most of the Farming matches i have been in don't rely on grabs they just do enough damage that sure one or two pyros get through but they can be dealt with

Equip any weapon that can pierce objects with an AP mod and the newly buffed Disruptor Ammo. Shoot for the fuel tank. Pyro problem solved.

Alternatively, equip a high powered weapon with an AP mod/AP ammo and do the same.

Why does it matter? It's going to happen, as it should. These are the changes that should have been made to the Geth in the first place to prevent farming, not the stuff we've gotten so far. Hopefully Bioware scales back damage and whatnot in weekly balance changes, and introduce better ways (like this one) to make Geth harder to farm.

They should take away their dodge then. If they are too heavy to get grabbed, then they are also too heavy to skip. :D

Finally someone says this. I'm pretty sure they'll still be able to roll though.

>Too heavy to be grabbed
>Can still roll with a gas tank on its back

It's not a line of reasoning.  They told us it was a glitch and that's why they changed it.  They didn't say, "We changed our minds, boss headshots make the game too easy."  They told us that it was a mistake that bosses ever took headshot damage.  They lied then and they're lying now.
