Right, just like Prime headshots were a glitch that somehow got its own special animation.  No one's buying this.

Hehe. This is so true it made me laugh.

The problem with this reasoning is that it is baseless and completely inaccurate. Every unit in the game has (until this new patch) a single damage modifier for headshots. Rather than being a glitch, it was decided that it wasn't practical to leave this mechanic working as such (bosses have bigger heads/are slower moving, as such are easier to headshot). In the interim while they painstakingly gave every unit in the game its own individually set modifiers, they removed headshots from relevant enemies. That's all there is to it, and none of it has anything to do with this discussion.

It's not a line of reasoning.  They told us it was a glitch and that's why they changed it.  They didn't say, "We changed our minds, boss headshots make the game too easy."  They told us that it was a mistake that bosses ever took headshot damage.  They lied then and they're lying now.

Actually that's exactly what they said, paraphrased but accurate as I related it. It was explicit in their explanation that it was not a glitch (apart from Ravagers' entire bodies counting as a "head," that they said was a glitch). As I've already described quite accurately what their explanation was, I will refrain from doing so again.

FBW is the only map where you'd have a reasonable chance to actually grab a pyro anyway.

Well, maybe glacier as well. Either way, it makes sense that Has Armor = No Grab.

Geth are not nearly as hard as you make them out to be, especially considering they don't have grenades and they gave a couple races stagger resistance. Makes the Kroguard own geth even more! :D

You could grab pyros on:
White
Dagger
Ghost
Giant
Glacier
Reactor
Condor
Hydra
Jade
Vancouver
London

Vancouver is the easiet grabfest, the rest are dependent on opportunity provided.

Doesn't matter if it was intended or not after Thursday. Deal with itB)

And what difference does it make now if it was or not? After Thursday, you won't be able to. Your disbelief won't change the patch.

I'm writing on my phone, and whenever I try to delete a lot of text it flips out on me and deletes everything. I'm left with avoiding quotes altogether, or quoting and forming a pyramid with everyone who the person I'm quoting quoted, unfortunately no middle ground.

Either side have a quote as proof? Without that, it's just one word against another, so no point in arguing that. However, who the heck decided that Banshees and Brutes had bigger heads and are slower moving...? That's just absurd. Primes are the only ones with larger heads and are slower moving and an Atlas I would believe them saying it has no weak points as it has no head and is specifically made to soak hits.

So, bat to the point, if pyros never were meant to be grabbed, why didn't they fix this before and assuming they couldn't fix this before, why was it never even mentioned? That I have to say is rather far fetched.. and not the pokemon.

I don't for a moment believe they were never supposed to be grabbed, but that isn't my problem with this mess. My problem is they are in effect, buffing the geth again, even if it is a minor buff. The geth are the most overpowered faction, they are cheap and annoying, and I don't for a moment think this will slow down farmers.

It is just crap that they are buffing a faction that in no way needs or deserves any buffing. That is what is bugging the crap out of me.

they shouldnt change the geth to stop farming, they should take out the main FBW cover in the room where everyone farms. POOF. farming over.

Grabbing geth pyros over cover felt great and rewarding. Definitely one of my favorite things when it comes to fighting the geth.

Ah well, can't say I'm surprised that BioWare is still ruining multiplayer.

At least now I can headshot bosses.

Swarmers, husks, and geth turrets also don't have armor, and are obviously very light, but we can't grab those.. :wizard:

Why in the name of Urdnot Wrex on a bicycle would you want to grab a swarmer? It'd burst, spraying acid all over your firing hand.....

But yeah, there are too many farmers round here who are complaining too much. "Never supposed to be able to grab pyros" disbelief aside, people aren't complaining about how we still can't grab phantoms. Perhaps it WASN'T "originally" intended that pyros cannot be grabbed, but bioware perhaps have data, showing that only X% of the damage done to players, or that X% of killing blows on players are performed by pyros, and bioware think that they should be doing more damage or be more deadly, given that they probably cost more in terms of wave budget than hunters, and are "supposed" to be tougher and more deadly.

This, combined with how trivial and cheap grab sprees really are is why they made the changes, they want the game to be harder, and grabs make it EZ mode. Again, if you can't handle it, play a managable difficulty level, like Bronze!

This change has no effect for me, I never deliberately go for grabs, least of all use GRABBING as my entire strategy for dealing with pyros.

"They get close, then they shoot you" ....well shoot back? or shoot them before they get close? hurrrr, farmers are really stupid at times, the entire match doesn't have to be spent behind the kitchen counter of FBW....

TL;DR: in the grand scheme of things, this matters very little. People who are good enough to play gold, will still be playing gold. People who aren't good enough to play gold, but could get away with it by doing pansy áss farming techniques will now no longer reap the rewards for little or no effort.

At least this is gonna reduce the number of people getting killed through cover while waiting for a pyro to come closer. And people getting knocked out of cover by pyros exploding in their hands. I'll miss that.

Always intended. Geth were the only one lacking a pseudo-elite unit. The Reapers and Cerberus had Brutes and Atlases respectively. Otherwise, as I stated in another thread. This would be ineffectual in combating farming. I can say from experience grabbing Pyros on farm sessions was a rarity in the groups I teamed with. We used a Decoy or simply good lock down tactics. The "room of doom" on White is a better camping ground.

For what it´s worth, I don´t really care ¨how it´s called...fixing, buffing...what matters to me is that in practical way, geth are becoming once again slightly harder, which I think is somehow ridiculous at this point.

You do realize that the Prime's drones were supposed to shoot missiles right? If this really happened....Geth would be unstoppable. Geth rocket trooper double shot followed by drone rocket shot followed by a pyro shooting at you when you just got in cover with that hunter that just snuck up behind your cover.

for the same reason pull/singlarity/lift doesn't work on armored targets I assume it was an oversight to allow melee over cover. This just looks like a correction.

But more importantly, they altered the banshee's pathing so that you can't get them stuck in a teleport loop on FBW.

Am I the only one who takes the developers at their word when they say something explicitly?

People would be more inclined to take them at their word if they weren't throwing things like telling us the previous patch fixed ULM, that the Typhoon in its current state is a good weapon, etc.

As mystified as I myself am that they would think those things fixed without having actually fixed them, I remain inclined to believe that they believed what they were saying when they said it; this makes them incorrect in those instances, but it does not make them liars.

I operate on a three-strike system.

Bioware's used up all three, so I do not give the benefit of the doubt any longer.

Well, all I know is that sometimes i lived off of grabbing many geth from behind covers because they were always so silly in doing so. Now, that pyros are ungrabable it is gonna make things a lil more difficult.

No, it wont make anything more difficult they are slow walking enemies who move in a straight line most of the time and have an exploding tank to target on their back.

Here's a suggestion that would render any more buffing of geth irrelevant. Bioware should simply remove Firebase White from the map rotation and replace with a new map. farming problems solved or at the very least forces them to farm on a different map. Farmers need to change scenery anyway.

How does this change, that is supposedly to deter farmers, affect players who don't exclusively search FBW? It's insignificant.

Why is this receiving negativity? Some people are saying it's the principle that they gave us a possibly false reason for doing so. Some say it's the fact that they buffed the geth even though this "buff" is a non factor for most who don't farm FBW geth.

MP isn't going to become unplayable because a minor aspect of the cheesiest way to play the game has been altered.

Yeah, it's totally anti-farming.  Which is fine as long as they make it so geth aren't retarded as hell in a legit game.  Which I seriously doubt they'll do.
