Hi,

I'm currently romancing Leliana with my PC, got up to the part where I can either harden her or keep her as she is...

And considering it's taken me like 2 months to get this far in the game (lol I've done lothering, the circle & redcliffe village... and thats it.. lolz).. I'd like to know what consequenses / effects in the end hardening her will have. Trying to get an ending I want/like... and don't want to have to replay a massive portion of the game because I went the wrong path..

My chaacter is not Human Noble, so is not aiming to become Queen of Feraldin.. I plan on doing the ritual - whiny baby can sow some wild oats for the good of us all.. so I'm not planning on a death,.

Just wondering.. to have an ending where I "keep" or "stay" with Leliene.. do I need to harden her or not?

Also, would hardening her remove the dissaproval when you let Jowan free in the castle?
And will she still dissapprove if you have some "fun" in The Pearl?

Hardened - she will join you in the fun at the Pearl, she will still force you to choose between her and any other companion you may be seeing on the side, she will gladly accept gifts and they will raise her approval normally and she will travel with you after the blight is ended, "for a time" .. which is pretty vague and could mean for a 100 years, for all I care!

Not hardened - everything just the same but the fun at the Pearl! (and of course, her reaction to different situations where you may take a darker option, will reflect in her approval)

To stay with the girl, you just need to keep her satisfied. The ritual doesn't cause any major trouble.

For the fun in the Pearl: do get her hardened before that, and make sure to bring Zev as well. Still waiting for someone to make a sequence mod for that part here.

If you're in a romance with Leliana, she'll always travel with you after the blight is ended so it doesn't matter if you harden her or not.

It simply affects some of her dialogue and her response to some of your actions. Personally I always harden her because I think it makes her a more interesting character.

I did not harden her and she stay with my character unconditionally. However some people have gotten endings where she stayed with them only for a while. I suspect that being 100% faithful is the difference. IOW do not even think about having an affair with anyone else.

It might also depend on what your ultimate choice is.

I've only finished a Zevran playthrough lately, but if I told Alistair I was staying with the Gray Wardens, Zevran stayed by my side unconditionally. When I told Alistair I was going to travel for awhile, Zevran stayed with me (in the words of the epilogue) "for a time."

In my epilogue, my character and Leliana stay in Ferelden "for a time" to rebuild the Ferelden Grey Wardens but then continue on together to travel on to other things. I am wondering if people are not confusing the time in Ferelden with the time together. It appears that the romance is until death due you part and the "for a time" is for only staying in Ferelden. This makes more sense as it sets up the situation for a sequel. There is a whole wide world to explore.
