 Hey there guys,

So, I've recently stumbled upon this page on the wiki:

http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Ignacio's_Dagger

I didn't even know there was such an amazing weapon! And now, of course, I want to get my hands on it for my rogue! Problem is I simply don't know how. I've just finished all quests for Ignacio, I'm at that point where you go back to talk to him for the very last time and get Red Jenny Seekers. According to the wiki, you can steal it from him or loot it from his body after you kill him. I prefer the former, since I don't want to lose access to his "special stock".

I'm playing a rogue, and I have four points in stealing, master stealth and 62 cunning at the moment. However, it doesn't matter what I do, I can't get it. I reloaded many, many times, to no use. The best I've got was about 6g, but no dagger. I've also killed him a few times, but he only dropped a tier 1 crow dagger.

I don't know what else to do. Is it really possible to get this dagger? Did someone here get it? If so, how?

Thanks guys, I appreciate any help!:)

looks like its a very rare drop i.e. fade wall or warden tower shield (from sophia). I'd say your best bet is to save right before going in and reload until you get it...or get the lucky axe and kill him with that equipped.

That dagger is not meant for use by the PC or any of his/her companions. Only Ignacio is supposed to use that. The 'toolset' description of the item makes it clear - "This is for NPC use only. The player will never get this".

Although it can be made stealable and/or droppable via the toolset, the bonuses of that dagger is obviously way too overpowered.

First time i saw it was when i decided to kill him,
(in other words i got it at my first attempt)
also when the quest was about to end.

It's as easy as anything else to get it with siramods "add any item visual deluxe"
http://forums.steamp...34&postcount=22

The hard part is to make those 2 runeslots appear !
Any suggestion that lead to a re-producable runslot appearance is much appreciated

...btw my version is too low to allow 'toolset', -alas i aint got none,
it is lootable right off the shelf

btw 2: i saw some weapon with "lucky"  attribute,
what is that ?

The lucky attribute doesn't actually do anything. Much like messy kills, weakens darkspawn, morale, increases hostility and intimidation, etc.

EDIT: And on topic, it should be obvious from the dagger's stats that it's not meant to be acquired by the player. It'd certainly unbalance things somewhat...

 Heys guys,

Thank you for all the input. Yes, I know that the dagger isn't supposed to be obtainable, but it seems that some people actually got it, like keeneaow. I've reloaded many times and couldn't get it, so I finally gave up.

Maybe it's a rare glitch or bug and only a few people can get it. But I'll keep my eyes open on future playthroughs, and maybe I'll get lucky someday.

I think you should try and kill him a few times,
perhaps the probability goes up that way, or even is the only way.
Pity it isn't possible to save in the middle of a battle,
so you could quick-save just seconds before he goes down.
I trade away Ceasar's special stock any day for this dagger.

And in any case, siramods "add any item visual deluxe"
will get you both the poison recipe & the dagger in a heartbeat.

The only way to get it is by cheating. You add the item via console command or mod (your choice). :wizard:

It must be because of some glitch, or probably because of some mod that changed the game resources. It is neither droppable nor stealable in the vanilla game, at least in the PC. Bioware never intended it for PC use.

Because Ignacio is wearing noble clothing, the dagger he is carrying is making up for the loss of armor and defence which would otherwise make him a ridiculously easy opponent.

There are several NPC-only weapons in the game, mostly without special properties though, this is just one of them.

I'll second this.

It would have been even easier to just give him extra stats ( dex & con)
instead of making & implementing a unique weapon

Not necessarily. One can create a new weapon with the toolset with just a few clicks. While adding extra attribute points to only a certain NPC has the potential to be game-breaking by messing out with the universal level progression system, in the same way that using the developer console comes with a risk. I'm not saying the developers couldn't have done that, they surely can, but what I'm thinking is why mess up a seamless leveling system, when just adding another item is much easier using the game engine. I may be wrong.

I got this dagger drop twice, and i only use mods that change visual appearances and fix glitches (DA Redesigned and Fix Pack, as well as some hairstyle and aesthetic mods etc).

First time on my arcane warrior, it was on my first kill of ignacio

Second time was on my rogue. I finished the quest chain of Trial of Crows, came back to ignacio, looted the red jenny seekers, quicksaved in front of him and kill him about 10 times. I was starting to believe it was a glitch i got on my AW but it looks like its really just a random drop for the vanilla game. I use auto-loot also btw, maybe that has something to do with it. Im not sure this dagger would appear in a loot window.

Btw, this dagger isnt at all overpowered for a rogue that plays with a party that has a tank. You actually gimp yourself out by using this, because you would do alot more damage with a dagger with 3 sockets and 3 +5 runes in them. This weapon is entirely defensive, and really cool for a rogue that wants to solo the game, makes you a bit tougher but not tough enough for it to be easy. I suggest you get this at the beginning ASAP.

In all seriousness, its not +15 defense and +12 armor thats going to make your rogue any better in a party. And if you loot this nearing the end of the game, your rogue should be doing 100 dmg backstabs already, which IMHO is already a game breaker to begin with. This game is wayyyyyyy too easy at nightmare. It needs some kind of Legendary mode meant for people who want to be abused by the game. I plowed through this game twice in a row with 2 different classes and it was not challenging at all. Except maybe uhhhh... the spider queen. Which is a really dumb and annoying fight, but challenging still.

Bioware isnt all that great about making games difficult. Nightmare makes a couple encounters really tough, but the rest of the game is a breeze. Oh well, I <3 you Bioware anyway, great game.

A 3 slot crow dagger gives you 15% crit/backstab damage and 15 elemental damage that only procs for every second frontal autoattack (talents don't do elemental damage at all, while backstabs always use the right-hand weapon). Igacio's gives you the same 15% crit/backstab, as well as +5 damage and +2.5 AP that is applied to every hit, including talents and backstab. Offensively it's the second best dagger in the game, only behind the rose's thorn.

Regardless, the obvious overpoweredness comes from the fact it makes your character nigh invulnerable (aside from on a rogue, keep in mind it's also usable by a SnS tank. Or even a DW warrior). And yeah tanks are nice at taking aggro, but needing to do that still restricts what your rogue can do.
