I miss game manuals. The ones for RPGs like DA:O or Oblivion were epic. Even the shorter ones were still pretty decent and filled with heaps of lore, like the first Halo's manual which had info on all the Covenant and weapons and stuff, it was awesome. Now a days all you get is a single page that basically says "insert game, play".

I get that it's a cost cutting thing and saving the trees and all that but still, I miss them. I'm always disappointed when I get a new game and see the manual.

Yeah, having a thick manual with some lore and fully documented gameplay mechanics would be great.

Though I'd kind of like to have a 'lore manual' all on its own, to contain all of the codex entries and maybe some additional gameworld info. Maybe the CE could come with two codexes, a gameplay codex and a lore codex. That would be neat.

Pretty much this. There was mention of something like that in a thread in the Bioware Store section of the forums and the more I think about it, the more I like it. You might add your voice there if you want to see such a product... you never know. :3 I would buy such a thing outright. I mean, Dragon Age is so rich with lore and I'm the sort of person who loves to read every codex entry, so having a ink-and-paper version that I could browse without having to be at the game would be awesome! I don't have an e-reader or a fancy phone, but a version there would at least be something if it'd be too much to print. Perhaps with a seperated section/back of the book for entries from DA3 so as to minimize spoilers?

I pretty much expect my CE to come with at least a soundtrack or map or artbook or some combination of those, though a figure would be lovely so long it's not going to drive the price up too much. I start to get strained past the triple-digit threshhold.

In-game content would also be appreciated, though I prefer things like DA2's Dog and 'DLC' codes over, say, items. Dog and Shale, for example, have a bigger draw to me due to the fact that they can be interacted with in more than just combat.

TL,DR: Lore book, soundtrack, art/map, figures, in-game content that is not just items.

i'm all for more physical additions. :) DLC is all well and good but I love collectable props and or books/manuals. Stuff you can see and hold in your hands, put in your room etc. So yes i like your idea :)

Well that book thing about Thedas is coming out soon. Perhaps bundle that with the CE?

I partly agree. I think that you should get DLC for CE/Pre-order etc. but I also think you should get DLC out of the box for new purchases as an insentive to buy new. and I don't just mean some bullsh*t "online pass". in DA1 we got DLC in the box (Shale/Blood Dragon Armour). in DA2 we got DLC in the box ( the Black Emporium and Dog). in ME2 we got DLC in the box ( the Cerberus Pack,+Zaeed). Then for ME3 we got. nothing. nadda. there was no insentive whatsoever to buy the game new other than the "online pass" for multiplayer. which though I have used I could easily have done without and just bought the game used if Id know there was no DLC.

So basically you are saying...

"I was fine with the DLC that came with DA1, DA2, and ME2...but I didn't like the fact that I got stuff in ME3 too that I forgot about."

ME 3 CE came with the Prothean character. It also came with little things like the dog (which I admit I was disappointed with), and the N7 Hoodie.  Then again I also wound up playing the Kingdom of Almamar demo which gave me Reckoner Knight Armor and the Chakarm Launcher.

A couple of items that help at the start of the game (for every class) is all I ask for with Pre-Order/CE. Anything extra I would like to be set to be put in the game more then any outside trappings.

Why make up separate stories rather than just giving us the codex entries in book form. I would read a lot more of them if I didn't have to do it on my computer screen, and it would certainly make me consider buying the Collector's Edition.

I'd like to see a creepy Bann Teagan marionette so that true fans could relive that scene with Connor at Redcliffe at any time.

To the topic though, I'd like a lore intestive book that also has details on the combat mechanics (resistances, combos, calculations, etc).  The lore side might be covered by the Dark Horse project.  I feel I'm probably in a minority on wanting the combat details.

I'm a fan of trinkets and such. A soundtrack is what I'm really after. I also like decent sized books that are well made. The tiny ones always get shoved in a drawer. I liked the one that came with the Skyrim LE. Statues are always cool too, as long as they don't triple the price. I would also love it if DA3 gave you another cloth map. I was sad when I missed out on the first one. :( That's something I would hang on my wall.

I have no problem with a physical map or artbook being included in the Collector's Edition, but I really hate statues being included, if they want to sell one to us I think the BioWare store is the best place for those for the increased cost for a single item isn't something I am interested in. Besides it always isn't a guarantee to sell for I remember the HALO 3 Legendary edition with the helmet case sticking around for a long time, I think I might have saw it through a major layer of dust the other day.

I would pass on the statues, I'd be up to three statues (two of dragons, because, you know, "Dragon" Age?)

I would LOVE a map. And a lore book (with concept art, some more extensive codices, with a feel that you can't always get in the wiki)

I agree with this. And one of those cool Skyrim paper maps of Thedas to hang on the wall. In fact a booklet about the cultures, histories, and what-not and a paper map would be incentive enough for me to grab the Collector's Edition.

It was supposed to be cloth.

I'm still bitter.

It should come with a Sandal plushy and English to Qun-lat dictionary.

Assuming what Bioware devs said is true, which means From Ashes is a leftover idea that originally couldn't make it into the game.

According to some posts here, CE is supposed to have exclusive content that makes it stand out from the standard edition, like From Ashes.

...and this means, according to these posts, even if Bioware do not have such ideas that do not make it into the game, they are obliged to cut something off from the main game, make it a DLC and satisfy some people who order CE. What's wrong with you guys...
