Hi I have both the PC version and the PS3 version of the game (that's how much i love it!). I've completed it twice on the PS3 version and just started my second play through on the PC version. I decided to mod it like crazy and i must say, I love what I've created. I played the PC version non stop for the past week and decided to go back to the PS3 version to complete my third playthrough... but I can't help but feel that something is missing... the i realised, it was those mods that I had so cherished on the PC.

Will mods come to the PS3? There certainly has been loads of rumours!

Thanks
Mike

No, Sony has complete control over what can be released on their ps3.

They are not going to allow community made mods to be released for the ps3.

Any DLC that bioware creates has to go through certification from Sony before it can released on the ps3.

The same goes for XBOX360, as far as I am aware. Mods will in a sense be exclusive to PC(/Mac?), as there are the certification process on both console platforms making it harder for user-generated content to be deployed on those systems. It's not impossible, but it would be limited at the very least on the consoles, with pre-defined hard-coded things you would be allowed to do (think Little Big Planet style). Who knows, perhaps BioWare will develop some sort of console editor editor for the consoles in the future.

I got a bit confused about your text though, OP. You completed it twice in PS3, then started on a second playthrough (that'd be third, right?) on the PC, then you went back to the PS3 to finish your third playthrough (fourth?). I am confused :-S

Really?! That is so annoying, Sony have let me, and surely many others down, on that one.

Thanks for the reply.

I think he means he played it twice on the PC, and is on the third playthrough on the PS3 version.

You are talking about 2 seperate things here.

Yes official DLC from Bioware (i.e. Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner, etc) needs certification from Sony.

Mods (changing of level cap, user made level) don't.  It has been done with Unreal already.  Granted the title wasn't very popular, but all you had to do was copy the PS3 compiled file from the PC to PS3 in the right place and there you have the mod and Sony was no where to be seen.  Plus, you have Sony made games that require to a certain extent user input, mods if you will, "Little Big Planet" and the upcoming "ModNation Racers"

If anything, it's my guess, that mods for the consoles are not happening for two reasons.  One, the compiler released cannot generate the proper files for the consoles and two, Microsoft, since Live is a completely closed system they, not Sony, want complete control over what is floating around on their network.  And since Bioware is trying to remain console neutral, as much as possible, with this release, if one can't get it the other can't either.

That's pretty fail. That mods for DAO aren't compatable on another platform other than PC that is. It's the same way with TESO IV (The Elder Scrolls of Oblivion 4). But they're two completely different companys, or, I believe they're completely different. I at least know they're different...

Anyway, TESO IV is created by Bethesda Softworks. DAO, Bioware. Don't flame me plawks. :3

Sony should ease up on those rules; modding skins isn't cheating. I can see them doing that crap to stop gameshark and codebreaker ect. But for a skin modding app come on wtf...

It is upsetting for the PS3/Xbox 360 players. Too bad Bioware created an ordinary game, from the perspective of the game players, that needed modifications and not an extraordinary game that came with the already installed mods... Hmmm. Oh well, guess we just have to deal, unfortunately.

I don't understand the reasoning for no mods. I can hook up a keyboard and mouse to my PS3 just like a computer, why couldn't I have an added application that will effect just one specific game?

I don't see how modding a game is the same as modding a console.

You'd think that Bioware wold have taken a hint and given purchasable DLC that gave console players the mods pc players have...the marketing was already done for them on youtube...I'd pay to see my wedding w/ Alistair! I'd pay to do a lot of what Ive seen on youtube from pc mods. I guess I'll have to buy it DA:O for pc one day and learn how to do the mods.

You can mod the ps3 version to a certain degree. I have DAO for the PC and PS3. From my personal experience, it seems that the ps3 version can only read the PC versions .uti files. I've renamed certain in game items and made them for my player only and they have worked. I play as a Rogue and have modded the normal dagger and gave it massive stats. I also added 4 rune slots to it . I of course had to create the override folder as well. Your ps3 must be on cfw.

I would like to know if you can mode your charcters in DA:O to wear the Mass Effect 2 clothes. Samara's armor on Morigan would make her one HOT WITCH.
